DRIVING
EASY mode (automatic mode)
Select position E u s i n g t h e g e a r l e v e r .
The gear engaged is displayed on
the instrument panel screen.
The gearbox continuously selects
the most suitable gear.
Manual mode
P l a c e t h e g e a r l e v e r i n p o s i t i o n M ,
then change up or down through the
g e a r s b y p r e s s i n g :
- r e a r w a r d s , "+" to change up,
- f o r w a r d s , "-" to change down.
The gear engaged is displayed on
the instrument panel screen.
I n t h e e v e n t o f u n d e r - r e v v i n g , t o p r e v e n t
a n y r i s k o f s t a l l i n g , t h e g e a r b e l o w i s s e -
lected automatically.
I n t h e e v e n t o f o v e r h e a t i n g o f t h e
clutch, position N i s s e l e c t e d a u t o -
matically and the symbol N fl a s h e s
accompanied by an audible signal. Operating fault
Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine, you
can change to position N to be in
neutral.
In all cases, it is essential that you
apply the handbrake to immobilise
t h e v e h i c l e . With the ignition on, the
lighting of this warning light
i n d i c a t e s a g e a r b o x m a l -
function.
On a slope, use the brake to
i m m o b i l i s e t h e v e h i c l e a n d
p l a c e t h e g e a r l e v e r i n p o s i -
tion N , E or R .
D o n o t k e e p t h e v e h i c l e i m m o b i l i s e d
using the accelerator. It is compulsory to press the
brake pedal while starting
the engine.

In all cases, it is essential to
a p p l y t h e h a n d b r a k e t o i m -
m o b i l i s e t h e v e h i c l e .

CHECKING THE LEVELS
There are two marks
on the dipstick:
A = maximum
I f y o u fi l l p a s t t h i s
mark, contact a
CITROËN dealer.
B = minimum
Never allow the lev-
el to fall below this
mark.
Dipstick
Oil change
According to the information given in
the servicing booklet. Changing the brake fluid

the intervals stated, according to the
manufacturer’s servicing schedule.

Windscreen wash level
For best quality cleaning and for your
safety, we would advise that you
use products recommended by your
manufacturer.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
Viscosity selection
In all cases, the oil selected must meet
the manufacturer’s requirements. Cooling system
Used oil
Avoid prolonged contact of used oil
with the skin.

very corrosive.
To maintain the reliability of
engines and emission control
systems, the use of additives
in engine oil is prohibited. Slacken the cap by 1/4 of a
turn to release the pressure
to prevent any risk of scald-
ing. When the pressure has
dropped, remove the cap and top up
the level. O n l y u s e t h e fl u i d r e c o m m e n d e d
by the manufacturer.
Otherwise, you risk seriously
damaging your engine.
Do not dispose of used oil,
b r a k e fl u i d o r c o o l a n t i n t o
drains or into the ground.
Empty the used oil into the
containers provided for this
purpose in the CITROËN
network.
Oil level
Check the level regularly and top up
between changes. The maximum
consumption is 0.5 l per 600 miles
(1 000 km).
Check the level with the vehicle level,
engine cold, using the dipstick.
When the engine is warm, the tem-
perature of the coolant is controlled
by the engine fan. As this fan can op-
erate with the ignition key removed
and because the cooling system is
pressurised, wait for at least one hour
after the engine has stopped before
carrying out any work.

CHECKS Oil filter
C h a n g e t h e fi l t e r r e g u l a r l y , i n a c c o r -
dance with the servicing schedule. Only use products recom-
mended by CITROËN or
products of equivalent quality
and characteristics.
In order to optimise the op-
eration of units as important as the
braking circuit, CITROËN selects
a n d o f f e r s s p e c i fi c p r o d u c t s .
In order to avoid damaging the elec-
trical units, high pressure washing
to clean the engine compartment is
strictly prohibited.
To check the main levels and certain
components, in accordance with the
manufacturer’s servicing schedule,
refer to the pages of the servicing
booklet which correspond to your
vehicle’s engine.
Battery
At the start of winter, have your battery
checked by a CITROËN dealer.
Air filter and passenger
compartment filter
H a v e t h e fi l t e r e l e m e n t s r e p l a c e d r e g u -
larly.
If you drive in dusty conditions,
change them twice as often.
Brake pads
Brake pad wear depends on the style
of driving, in particular for vehicles
which are used in town, over short
distances.
Disc and drum wear status
For any information relating to disc
and drum surface wear, contact a
CITROËN dealer. Manual gearbox
Have the level checked in accordance
with the manufacturer’s servicing
schedule.
RUNNING OUT OF FUEL (DIESEL)
It may be necessary to check
the thickness of the pads,
even between services.
If the engine stops, it is pos-
sible to restart it to drive a
short distance by operating
the pump at least 10 times.
If you run out of fuel, the circuit must be
reprimed:
- fi l l t h e f u e l t a n k w i t h a t l e a s t fi v e litres of diesel,
- squeeze and release the manual repriming pump at least 10 times.
This is located under the protective
c o v e r w h i c h m u s t fi r s t b e u n c l i p p e d
and then removed,
- operate the starter until the engine starts.
Notes: if the engine does
not start after approximately
15 seconds of attempts, op-
erate the repriming pump
a g a i n a p p r o x i m a t e l y fi f t e e n t i m e s b e -
fore trying again.
If the emission control warning light has
come on, it will only switch off after your
vehicle has been used several times.
Handbrake
Where the handbrake travel is too
great or there is a reduction in the
performance of the system, the
handbrake should be adjusted, even
between services.
Have the system checked by a CITROËN
dealer.

Parking the vehicle
As far as possible, immobilise
the vehicle on level, stable, non-
slippery ground.
Apply the handbrake, switch
o f f t h e i g n i t i o n a n d e n g a g e fi r s t
gear, reverse or position N for the
"SensoDrive" gearbox. Tools
The following tools are installed in a
carrier, located in the centre of the
spare wheel:
1. Wheelbrace
2. Jack with handle
3. Removable towing eye
Access to the spare wheel and
the jack in the boot
Remove the carpet then the
plastic cover using the handle. Tyre pressure
This is indicated on the label posi-
tioned on the interior pillar of the left
d o o r , s e e " I d e n t i fi c a t i o n " .
CHANGING A WHEEL
If necessary, chock the wheel
diagonally opposite the wheel to
be changed.
It is imperative that you ensure
that the occupants get out of
the vehicle and wait in a safe
location.

Disconnect the connector.
Remove the rubber C .
Push the tab D on the side.
Remove the bulb holder and
change the bulb.

the light:
open the boot,

remove the light unit by pulling
outwards,
unclip the harness,

(Four W 5 W bulbs)
U n s c r e w t h e 2 fi x i n g b o l t s A .
Release the lamp unit by pushing
the two tabs B inwards.
Disconnect the connector and the
rear wash-wipe pipe.
Remove the bulb holder.
Remove the bulb and change it.
W h e n r e fi t t i n g , p r o c e e d i n t h e r e v e r s e
order and ensure that the lamp unit seal
and the rear wash-wipe pipe have been
put back in place correctly.
Do not tighten the bolts more
than is necessary at the risk
of breaking the light.
remove the bulb holder moving
aside the four tabs B ,
remove the bulb and change it.
Note: w h e n r e fi t t i n g , p r o c e e d i n t h e
reverse order and take care to posi-
tion the bulb holder, the tabs and the
light correctly. Number plate lights (W 5 W)
Pass your hand under the
bumper.
Remove the bulb holder turning it
one quarter of a turn.
Remove the bulb and change it.
