AMBIENT LIGHTING
Your vehicle is equipped with warm
and welcoming ambient lighting.
A soft orange light is emitted.
Operation
When starting the engine, with the
vehicle lights on, lights located along
the dashboard are activated. Central console
The lights are located on the roof
console, near the front interior lamp.
They light up the central console.

These lights are activated with the
automatic switching on of the lights,
when the exterior light is poor. They
are deactivated when the instrument

The intensity of the lighting varies

rear interior door opening controls.
The rear door opening controls light-
ing is deactivated if child safety is
activated.

TRAJECTORY CONTROL SYSTEMS
Anti-skid regulation (ASR) and
electronic stability programme
(ESP)
T h e a n t i - s k i d r e g u l a t i o n o p t i m i s e s
t r a c t i o n t o p r e v e n t s k i d d i n g o f t h e
wheels, by acting on the brakes of the
driving wheels and on the engine.
T h e e l e c t r o n i c s t a b i l i t y p r o g r a m m e
acts on the brake of one or more
w h e e l s a n d o n t h e e n g i n e t o k e e p
the vehicle on the trajectory required
by the driver. Activation
These systems are activated auto-
matically each time the vehicle is
started.
T h e y c o m e i n t o o p e r a t i o n i n t h e e v e n t
o f a g r i p o r t r a j e c t o r y p r o b l e m . T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y fl a s h i n g
of this warning light on the
i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l . Disarming
I n e x c e p t i o n a l c o n d i t i o n s ( s t a r t i n g a
vehicle which is bogged down, stuck
in snow, on soft ground...), it may
be advisable to disarm the ASR and
ESP systems, so that the wheels
c a n m o v e f r e e l y a n d r e g a i n g r i p .
Press the "ESP OFF" button, lo-
cated in the centre of the fascia.
If this warning light comes
o n o n t h e i n s t r u m e n t p a n e l
and the indicator light on the
button comes on, this indi-
cates that the ASR and ESP
systems are disarmed.
Snow driving assistance
(SNOW MOTION)

This automatic system continuously
c h e c k s f o r s i t u a t i o n s o f d i f fi c u l t s u r -
face adhesion that could make it dif-
fi c u l t t o m o v e o f f o r m a k e p r o g r e s s
o n d e e p f r e s h s n o w o r c o m p a c t e d
snow.
In these situations, the SNOW
MOTION system takes over from
the ASR s y s t e m b y o p t i m i s i n g t h e
a m o u n t o f w h e e l s l i p t o p r o v i d e t h e
best traction and trajectory control,
even without snow tyres and with or
without chains. For vehicles with Hydractive III+
s u s p e n s i o n , m a n u a l a d j u s t m e n t o f
ground clearance to the intermediate
p o s i t i o n i m p r o v e s f u r t h e r t h e a b i l i t y
t o m a k e p r o g r e s s i n d e e p s n o w ( s e e
t h e r e l e v a n t p a r a g r a p h ) .
I n e x t r e m e l y s e v e r e c o n d i t i o n s ( s n o w
o n t o p o f i c e , s a n d , d e e p m u d … ) , i t
can be useful to deactivate the
ESP/
ASR systems to allow a degree of
w h e e l s p i n a n d s o r e c o v e r g r i p .

ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE
The electronic parking brake com-
bines 2 operational modes:
- AUTOMATIC
Automatic application when the engine stops and automatic re-
lease on use of the accelerator
(automatic operation by default),
- MANUAL
Permanent manual application/ release of the parking brake is
possible by pulling control A
while pressing the brake pedal. Automatic operation
Application with the engine off
With the vehicle stationary, the park-
ing brake
is automatically applied
when the engine is switched off.
The application of the parking brake

With the engine running and the ve-
hicle stationary, in order to immobi-
lise the vehicle you need to manually
apply the parking brake by
pulling
on control A .
The application of the parking brake

Before leaving the vehicle,
check that warning lamp P
on the instrument panel is
permanently lit.
Never leave a child alone inside the
vehicle with the ignition on, as they
could release the parking brake.

panel display.

The electronic parking brake releases
automatically and progressively
when you press the accelerator:
with a manual gearbox ( fi r s t
gear or reverse gear engaged),
press down fully on the clutch
pedal then press on the accel-
erator pedal and move off.
with an automatic gearbox , ac-
celerate with the selector in posi-
tion D , M or R .
Full release of the parking brake is
c o n fi r m e d b y : - the extinction of warning lamp P on control A and
on the instrument panel,
- the display of a message "park- ing brake released" on the instru-
ment panel display.
When stationary, with the engine
running, do not press the accelera-
tor pedal unnecessarily (particularly
when starting the engine, including
in neutral), as you may release the
parking brake. Activation/Deactivation of the
automatic functions
The automatic application when the
engine is switched off and the au-
tomatic release when you press
the accelerator can be deactivated.
Activation/deactivation is performed
u s i n g t h e c o n fi g u r a t i o n m e n u o f t h e
instrument panel display. To do so,
s e l e c t " P e r s o n a l i s a t i o n / C o n fi g u r a t i o n /
D e fi n e t h e V e h i c l e p a r a m e t e r s / D r i v i n g
assistance/Automatic handbrake".
The deactivation of these

cold conditions (ice) and
during towing (breakdown,
