T h e d e fl a t i o n d e t e c t i o n s y s t e m i s a
driving aid, but which does not ab-
solve the driver from the need to be
v i g i l a n t a n d r e s p o n s i b l e .
T h i s s y s t e m d o e s n o t d i s p e n s e w i t h
the requirement to check the tyres
on a regular basis (see "Vehicle
i d e n t i fi c a t i o n " ) , t o m a k e s u r e t h a t
the vehicle is behaving correctly
a n d t o a v o i d p r e m a t u r e t y r e w e a r
arising from driving too fast etc.
D o n o t f o r g e t t o c h e c k t h e p r e s s u r e
i n t h e s p a r e w h e e l .
A n y r e p a i r o r r e p l a c e m e n t o f a t y r e
o n a w h e e l t h a t i s e q u i p p e d w i t h
a sensor must be carried out by a
CITROËN dealer.
The system may suffer from tem-
p o r a r y i n t e r f e r e n c e c a u s e d b y r a -
dio transmissions on neighbouring
frequencies.

LANE DEPARTURE WARNING SYSTEM
System which detects the involun-
t a r y c r o s s i n g o f l o n g i t u d i n a l t r a f fi c
lane markings on the ground (con-
tinuous or discontinuous line).
S e n s o r s , fi t t e d b e l o w t h e f r o n t
bumper, trigger a warning if the vehi-
cle drifts (speed higher than 50 mph
(80 km/h)).
This system operates to its full
potential above all when used on
motorways and main roads. Activation
Press button A , the indicator light
comes on.
Deactivation
Press button A again, the indica-
tor light switches off.
The status of the system remains
in the memory when the ignition is
switched off.
Detection
Y o u a r e w a r n e d b y t h e v i b r a t i o n o f
the driver's seat cushion:
- on the right-hand side, if the marking on the ground has been
crossed on the right,
- on the left-hand side, if the mark- ing on the ground has been
crossed on the left.
No warning is transmitted while the
direction indicator is active and for
approximately 20 seconds after the
direction indicator is switched off.
A warning may be transmitted if a
direction marking (e.g. arrow) or
n o n - s t a n d a r d m a r k i n g ( e . g . g r a f fi t i )
is crossed. Operating fault
In the event of a malfunction, the
service warning light comes on, ac-
companied by an audible signal and a
message on the multifunction display.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
The lane departure warning sys-
tem cannot, in any circumstances,
replace the need for vigilance and
responsibility on the part of the
driver. The detection may be disrupted:
- if the sensors are dirty (mud,
snow...),
- if the markings on the ground are worn,
- if there is little contrast between the markings on the ground and
the road surface.

PARKING SPACE SENSOR
System which measures the parking
space available between two vehi-
cles or obstacles. It measures the
size of the space and gives you in-
formation on:
- t h e p o s s i b i l i t y o f fi t t i n g i n t o a free space, depending on the
dimensions of your vehicle and
the distances necessary for your
manoeuvring,
- t h e l e v e l o f d i f fi c u l t y o f t h e m a - noeuvre to be performed.
The system does not measure spac-
es which are clearly much smaller or
larger than the size of the vehicle. Displays on the instrument
panel
The parking space sensor function
warning lamp can have three differ-
ent statuses:
-
off: the function is not selected,
- o n fi x e d : the function is selected
but the conditions for measuring
are not yet met (direction indi-
cator not operating, speed too
high) or the measuring phase is
terminated.
- fl a s h i n g : the measuring is in
progress or the message is be-
ing displayed. Y o u c a n s e l e c t t h e " p a r k i n g s p a c e
sensor" function by pressing button
A. T h e fi x e d l i g h t i n g o f t h e w a r n i n g
lamp indicates that the function is
selected.
During the measurement, the mes-
sage "Measurement in progress -
Vmax 20 km/h (12 mph)" is displayed
on the instrument panel screen.

Operation
Y o u h a v e i d e n t i fi e d a p a r k i n g
space:
Press button A to select the function.
Activate the direction indicator
on the side where the space is to
be measured.
During the measuring, go for-
ward the length of the space, at
a speed less than 12 mph (ap-
prox. 20 km/h), to prepare for
your manoeuvre.
The system then measures the size
of the space.
The system informs you of the
l e v e l o f d i f fi c u l t y o f t h e m a n o e u -
vre via a message on the instru-
ment panel display accompanied
by a gong.
Depending on the message is-
sued by the system, you may or
may not be able to perform the
manoeuvre. The function displays the following
types of message:
Parking YES
P a r k i n g d i f fi c u l t
Parking NO The function deselects itself auto-
matically:
- when you engage reverse gear,
- when you switch off the ignition,
- if measuring is not requested,
- w i t h i n fi v e m i n u t e s o f s e l e c t i o n o f
the function,
- if the vehicle speed exceeds the threshold of 45 mph (approx.
70 km/h) for one minute.
If the lateral distance between your
vehicle and the parking space is too
large, the system may not be able
the measure the space.
The function remains available after
each measurement and thus can
measure more than one space dur-
ing your search.
In bad weather conditions or in
winter, make sure that the sensors
are not covered by dirt, or by ice or
snow.
The parking space sensor function
deactivates the front parking assist-
ance during the space measuring
phase when you are in forward gear.

verse gear is engaged, an audible
signal (long beep) indicates that the
sensors may be dirty.
Press button A again, the warn-
ing light switches off, the system
is reactivated.
"HYDRACTIVE III+" ELECTRONIC SUSPENSION
The suspension automatically and
instantly adjusts to different driving
s t y l e s a n d t o t h e p r o fi l e o f t h e r o a d ,
providing the best compromise be-
tween occupant comfort and vehicle
road holding.
It allows you to alternate between
s o f t a n d fi r m s u s p e n s i o n s e t t i n g s ,
maximising comfort at the same
time as permanently guaranteeing
the highest level of safety. It also
automatically corrects road holding,
according to the vehicle load and
driving conditions.
Also, the "Hydractive III+" suspen-
sion gives you the possibility of
choosing between two modes of
suspension.
A change of suspension mode can
be made either when the vehicle is
moving or when stationary, by press-
ing on button A . Display on the instrument
panel
The suspension mode selected is
displayed on the instrument panel
display.
Normal mode
This mode favours soft damp-
ing for maximum comfort.
If the speed authorised for a
particular position is exceed-
ed, the vehicle reverts auto-
matically to the normal road
position.
SPORT mode This mode favours dynamic
driving.
The warning lamp on but-
ton A comes on in addition
to the message on the in-
strument panel display.
SPORT mode is retained when you
switch off the engine.

DRAINING THE DIESEL FUEL FILTER
Protective cover
Removal of the cover Draining water from the fuel
filter
Drain regularly (at each oil change).
To drain the water, slacken the bleed
screw or the water in diesel fuel sen-
s o r , l o c a t e d a t t h e b a s e o f t h e fi l t e r .
Continue until all the water has
fl o w e d o u t .
Then retighten the bleed screw or
the water detection sensor.
HDi 110, HDi 173 and V6 HDi 208
engines

to remove it.
HDi 138 engine
Remove the protective cover by
fi r s t u n c l i p p i n g a t 3 , then 1 and 4.
Unclip at 2 by pulling towards
you, then lift up. R e fi t t i n g
Firstly clip in at 2 .
Lower and centre the cover.
Clip in at 3 and 4 , pushing verti-
cally and gently from the rear.
Clip in at 1 pushing vertically.
