Special position of the
windscreen wipers
In the minute following switching off
of the ignition, any action on the stalk
positions the wipers in the centre of
the windscreen.
This action enables you to position
the wiper blades for winter parking,
cleaning or replacement.
To park the wipers after this has
been done, switch on the ignition
and operate the stalk. For optimum and lasting wiping of
t h e " fl a t - b l a d e " w i p e r b l a d e s , i t i s
advisable to:
- handle them with care,
- clean them regularly using soapy water,
- change them approximately every 6 months,

Front courtesy lamp In this position, the courtesy
lamp comes on gradually: Permanently off.
Permanent lighting.
In permanent lighting mode, differ-
ent lighting times are available:
- with the ignition off, approxi- mately ten minutes,
- in energy economy mode, ap- proximately thirty seconds,
- with the engine running, unlim- ited.
- when the vehicle is unlocked,
- when a door or the boot is opened,
- when the key is removed from the ignition,
- when the remote control locking button is activated, in order to lo-
cate your vehicle. It switches off gradually:
- when the vehicle is locked,
- when the ignition is switched on,
- 30 seconds after the last door is
closed.

With the ignition on, press the
corresponding switch.

It also comes on when the ignition
is switched on, then switches off ap-
p r o x i m a t e l y t e n s e c o n d s a f t e r t h e
e n g i n e i s s t a r t e d .
T h e c o n t r o l i s l o c a t e d o n t h e d r i v e r ' s
door, with the electric window con-
t r o l s . A n y o t h e r s t a t u s o f t h e i n d i c a t o r
lamp indicates a malfunction of the

DIRECTION INDICATORS
Lower the lighting stalk fully
when moving to the left.
Raise the lighting stalk fully when
moving to the right.
HAZARD WARNING LAMPS
A visual warning by means of the
direction indicators to alert other
road users to a vehicle breakdown,
towing or accident.
Automatic lighting of hazard
warning lamps
When braking in an emergency,
depending on the deceleration, the
hazard warning lamps come on.
They will switch off automatically the
fi r s t t i m e y o u a c c e l e r a t e .
If they do not, press button A to
switch the direction indicators off. HORN
Audible warning system to alert other
road users to an imminent danger.
Selection of the left or right direc-
tion indicators to signal a change of
direction of the vehicle.
Press the button, the direction
i n d i c a t o r s fl a s h .
They can operate with the ignition off.
A s a s a f e t y p r e c a u t i o n i n a t r a f fi c j a m ,
switch on the hazard warning lamps
if you are the last in the queue.
Press at the lower part of the

wheel.

- immediate danger,
- approaching a location lacking visibility.

TRAJECTORY CONTROL SYSTEMS
Anti-skid regulation (ASR) and
electronic stability programme
(ESP)
The anti-skid regulation optimises
traction to prevent skidding of the
wheels, by acting on the brakes of
the driving wheels and on the en-
gine.
The electronic stability programme
acts on the brake of one or more
wheels and on the engine to keep
t h e v e h i c l e o n t h e t r a j e c t o r y r e q u i r e d
by the driver.
Activation
These systems are activated auto-
matically each time the vehicle is
started.
They come into operation in the event
o f a g r i p o r t r a j e c t o r y p r o b l e m . T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y fl a s h i n g
of this warning lamp on the
instrument panel. Deactivation
I n e x c e p t i o n a l c o n d i t i o n s ( s t a r t i n g a
vehicle which is bogged down, stuck
in snow, on soft ground...), it may be
advisable to deactivate the ASR and
ESP systems, so that the wheels
can move freely and regain grip.
Press the "ESP OFF" button,
located in the centre of the fascia. Reactivation
These systems are reactivated
automatically each time the ignition
is switched back on or from 30 mph
(50 km/h).
Press the "ESP OFF" button again
to reactivate them manually.
If this warning lamp comes
on in the instrument panel
and the indicator lamp on the
button comes on, this indi-
cates that the ASR and ESP
systems are deactivated. Operating fault
If this warning lamp comes
on, accompanied by an
audible signal and a mes-
sage on the multifunction
screen, this indicates a malfunction
of these systems.
Have the systems checked by a
CITROËN dealer.
T h e E S P / A S R s y s t e m s o f f e r e x c e p -
tional safety in normal driving, but
this should not encourage the driver
t o t a k e e x t r a r i s k s o r d r i v e a t h i g h
speed.
The correct functioning of these
systems depends on observation
of the manufacturer's recommen-
dations regarding the wheels (tyres
and rims), the braking components,
the electronic components and the
CITROËN assembly and operation
procedures.
After an impact, have these systems
checked by a CITROËN dealer.
