system.
If this comes on, it indicates the
occurrence of a fault in the en-
gine management system.
I f i t fl a s h e s , i t i n d i c a t e s t h e o c c u r r e n c e
of a fault in the emission control sys-
tem.
Low fuel level. If this comes on, it indicates that
you only have enough fuel left
to drive approximately 30 miles
(50 km).
The capacity of the tank is approximately
50 litres.
Coolant temperature.
If this comes on, it indicates that
the temperature in the cooling
system is too high.
Stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe
to do so.
Wait for a few minutes before switching
off the engine.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
After a few minutes driving, the tempera-
ture and the pressure rise in the cooling
system.
Air bags.
If this comes on, it indicates the
occurrence of a fault in one of
the air bag or seat belt preten-
sioner systems.
Power steering
If this is displayed, it indicates
the occurrence of a fault in
the power steering. Get to a
CITROËN dealership as safely
as possible.
Door open.
A door or the boot is open:
Battery charge.
If this comes on, it indicates
the occurrence of a fault in the
battery charging circuit (dirty or
loose terminals, slack or cut alternator
belt...). Engine oil pressure.
If this comes on, it indicates the
occurrence of a fault in the en-
gine lubrication circuit. Stop the
vehicle as soon as it is safe to
do so.
To top up the level:
wait for the engine to cool down,
unscrew the cap by 2 turns to allow
the pressure to fall,
when the pressure has fallen, re-
move the cap,
top up the level to the "MAXI" mark.
Seat belt not fastened/
unfastened.
If this comes on, it indicates
that the driver and/or the front
passenger has not fastened or has un-
fastened his seat belt.
It also indicates that one or more rear
passengers have unfastened their seat
belt.

if the speed is below 6 mph (10 km/h),
this warning light comes on continuously.
- if the speed is higher than 6 mph (10 km/h), this warning light comes on
continuously, accompanied by an audi-
ble signal.

MONOCHROME SCREEN A Controls
Displays on the screen
This displays the following information:
- the time,
- the date,
- t h e o u t s i d e t e m p e r a t u r e ( t h i s fl a s h - es if there is a risk of ice),
- the status of the accesses (doors, boot, ...),
- the audio sources (radio, CD ...),
- the trip computer (refer to the end of the section).
Warning messages or information mes-
sages may appear temporarily. These
can be cleared by pressing the "ESC"
button. General menu
Press the "MENU" button to gain
access to the general menu , then
press the " " or " " buttons to
scroll through the various menus:
- radio-CD,
- v e h i c l e c o n fi g u r a t i o n ,
- options,
- display settings,
- languages,
- units.
Press the "OK" button to select the
menu required.
From the audio equipment control
panel, you can:
press the "MENU" button to gain
access to the general menu ,
press the " " or " " buttons to scroll
through the items on the screen,
press the "MODE" button to change
the permanent application (trip com-
puter, audio source ...),
press the " " or " " buttons to
change a setting value,
press the "OK" b u t t o n t o c o n fi r m ,
or
press the "ESC" button to abandon
the operation in progress. Radio-CD
With the audio equipment switched on,
once the "Radio-CD" menu has been
selected you can activate or deactivate
the functions linked with use of the radio
(RDS, REG) or the CD (introscan, shuf-
fl e , C D r e p e a t ) .

Place the head restraints in the low

Pull control A , to release the seat
back which folds easily onto the
seat cushion.
This manoeuvre is accompanied by an
automatic recoil of the seat cushion.

To put the seat back in position once
again:
Move the seat back backwards until
it locks in place.
Position the seat cushion as re-

A d j u s t i n g t h e h e a d r e s t r a i n t s
T h e 1 / 3 - 2 / 3 r e a r b e n c h s e a t i s fi t t e d
with head restraints.
They have a high position (for comfort
and safety) and a low position (for rear
visibility).
They may be removed; to do so:
pull the head restraint upwards as
far as possible,
then, press on the lug A .
When you are carrying rear pas-
sengers, never drive with the head
restraints removed. They must be
secured in place in the high posi-
tion. When putting back in position, be
careful not to jam the seat belts. E n s u r e t h a t t h e y a r e c o r r e c t l y fi x e d
to the seat back before any ma-
noeuvre.
E a c h fl a p i s fi x e d t o t h e r e a r o f
the seat by two removable plastic
clips.
T o d e t a c h t h e fl a p s f r o m t h e r e a r o f
t h e s e a t b a c k , p r e s s fi r m l y o n t h e
upper part of the two plastic clips,
downwards, to release them.
To avoid any risk of breaking, they
recoil if subjected to excessive
force.

ACCESS
REMOTE CONTROL KEY
System which permits central unlock-
ing or locking of the vehicle using the
lock or from a distance. It is also used to
locate and start the vehicle, as well as
providing protection against theft.
Unfolding the key
First press button A to unfold the key.
Unlocking the vehicle
Press the open padlock to
unlock the vehicle. U n l o c k i n g i s c o n fi r m e d b y r a p i d fl a s h i n g
of the direction indicators for approxi-
mately two seconds. According to version, the exterior mirrors
unfold at the same time.
Unlocking using the remote control
Locking the vehicle
Press the closed padlock
to lock the vehicle.
Locking using the key
Turn the key to the right in the driv-
er’s door lock to lock the vehicle
completely.

According to version, the exterior mir-

Locking using the remote control
If one of the doors or the boot is still
open, the central locking does not
take place.
When the vehicle is locked, if it is
unlocked inadvertently, it will relock
automatically after thirty seconds
unless a door is opened. The folding and unfolding of the
exterior mirrors using the remote
control can be deactivated by a
CITROËN dealer.
Deadlocking using the remote
control
Press the closed padlock to lock the
vehicle.
Press the closed padlock again

vehicle.
Deadlocking using the key
Turn the key to the right in the
driver’s door lock to lock the vehicle
completely.
Turn the key to the right again within
fi v e s e c o n d s t o d e a d l o c k t h e v e h i c l e .

ing of the direction indicators for ap-
proximately two seconds.

Unlocking using the key
Turn the key to the left in the driver’s
door lock to unlock the vehicle. Deadlocking renders the exterior and
interior door controls inoperative.
It also deactivates the manual cen-
tral control button.
Therefore, never leave anyone
inside the vehicle when it is dead-
locked.

If the vehicle is locked from the out-

and button A is inactive.
In this case, use the remote
control or the key to unlock the
vehicle.
If one of the doors is open, the au-
tomatic central locking does not
take place.
If the boot is open, the automatic
central locking of the doors is
active.
Manual centralised
control
System which provides full manual
locking or unlocking of the doors from
the inside.
Locking
Press button A to lock the vehicle.
The red indicator light on the button
comes on. Automatic centralised
control
System which provides full automatic
locking or unlocking of the doors and
the boot while driving.
You can activate or deactivate this function.
Activation
Press button A for more than
two seconds.

multifunction display, accompanied by
an audible signal.
Unlocking
Above 6 mph (10 km/h), press but-
ton A to unlock the doors and the
boot temporarily.
If one of the doors is open, the cen-
tral locking from the inside does not
take place.
Unlocking
Press button A again to unlock the
vehicle.
The red indicator light on the button
switches off. Locking
When the speed exceeds 6 mph
(10 km/h), the doors and the boot lock
automatically.
Deactivation
Press button A again for more than
two seconds.

Emergency control
System which locks or unlocks the
doors mechanically in the event of a
malfunction of the battery or of the
central locking.
Insert the key in the lock, located on
the edge of the door, then turn it one
eighth of a turn . Opening
After unlocking the vehicle using the
remote control or the key, pull the
handle and raise the tailgate.
BOOT
- when the engine is run-
ning, this warning light
comes on, accompanied
by a message on the mul-
tifunction display for a few
seconds,
- when the vehicle is moving (speed
above 6 mph (10 km/h)), this warn-
ing light comes on, accompanied by
an audible signal and a message on
the multifunction display for a few
seconds. Tailgate release
System for mechanical unlocking of the
boot in the event of a battery or central
locking malfunction.
Unlocking
Fold back the rear benchseat to
gain access to the lock from inside
the boot.
Insert a small screwdriver into hole A
of the lock to unlock the tailgate.
Locking the driver’s door
Insert the key in the lock, then turn it
to the right.
Unlocking the driver’s door
Insert the key in the lock, then turn it
to the left.
Locking the front and rear
passenger doors
Unlocking the front and rear
