The seat belt reminder consists of an audible signal, an indicator light\
above the rearview mirror, and a
symbol in the instrument panel (see
page 51) that alert the driver and front seat passenger if their seat
belts are not fastened.
NOTE
The function is active for a total of 6 minutes from the time the igniti\
on is switched
on.
During the first minute:
The seat belt reminder function only reacts if the driver has not fasten\
ed his/her seat belt.
l The indicator light above the mirror and the symbol in the instrument pa\
nel will light up and stay lit
until the seat belt has been fastened.
l A chime will sound for 6 seconds. The frequency of the chiming increases\
with the speed of the car.
After one minute has elapsed:
The seat belt reminder reacts if the driver and/or the front seat passen\
ger have not fastened their seat belts.
l The indicator light above the mirror and the symbol in the instrument pa\
nel will light up and stay lit
until the seat belt(s) have been fastened, or until the remaining 5 mi\
nutes of the 6-minute cycle have
elapsed.
l The chime will sound for 6 seconds, at 30-second intervals. The frequenc\
y of the chiming increases
with the speed of the car.
After 6 minutes, the chime will no longer sound and the indicator lights\
will go out.
Seat belt maintenance
Check periodically that the seat belts are in good condition. Use water \
and a mild detergent for cleaning.

A child seat should never be used in the front passenger seat of any veh\
icle with a front passenger
airbag - not even if the "Passenger airbag off" symbol near the rear-vie\
w mirror is illuminated (on
vehicles equipped with Occupant Weight Sensor). If the severity of an a\
ccident were to cause the airbag
to inflate, this could lead to serious injury or death to a child seated\
in this position.
WARNING
Always refer to the child restraint manufacturer's instructions for deta\
iled information on securing the
restraint.

WARNING
l An infant seat must be in the rear-facing position only.
l The infant seat should not be positioned behind the driver's seat unless\
there is adequate space for
safe installation.
2. Attach the seat belt to the infant seat according to the manufacturer\
's instructions.
3. Fasten the seat belt by inserting the latch plate into the buckle (l\
ock) until a distinct click is audible.

WARNING
It should not be possible to move the child restraint more than 1 in. (\
2.5 cm) in any
direction.
The convertible seat can be removed by unbuckling the seat belt and lett\
ing it retract completely.
