1.Inthiscase,unlockthedriver’sdoorwiththekeyatthedoorlock.Leavethedoorclosedinordertopreventthealarmsystemfrombeingtriggered.
2.Pressbutton1ontheremotecontrol.

Thecapacityandabilityofthebatterytostorepowerdecreasesatlowoutsidetemperatures.
Additionally,morepowerisconsumedwhilestarting,andtheheadlights,heater,rearwindowdefogger,etc.,areusedmorefrequently.
LetyourPorschedealertestthebattery’scapacitybeforewintersetsin.
Thebatterywilldischargemorequicklyifyourvehicleisnotdrivenonadailybasisoveradistanceofseveralmiles.Themoreoftenyoudriveyourvehicle,andthelongerthedistancedriveneachtrip,themoreopportunitythevehicle’schargingsystemwillhavetorechargethebattery.
Replacingthebattery
Theservicelifeofthebatteryissubjecttonormalwear;itdependsgreatlyoncare,climaticcondi-tionsanddrivingconditions(distances,loads).
OnlyuseanoriginalPorschebatterywiththecorrectpartnumber,asareplacement.
Pleaseobservethedisposalinstructionsforbatteries.
Puttingvehicleintooperation
Afterthebatteryisconnectedorafteracom-pletelydischargedbatteryischarged,themul-tifunctionalPSMlightlightsupontheinstrumentpanelandamessageappearsontheon-boardcomputertoindicateafault.
Thisfaultcanberemediedwithafewsimplesteps:
1.Starttheengine.
2.Withthevehiclestationary,performafewsteeringmovementstotheleftandrightandthendriveashortdistanceinastraightlineuntilthemultifunctinalPSMlightgoesoutandthemessageontheon-boardcomputerdisappears.
3.Ifthewarningsdonotdisappear,then:DrivecarefullytothenearestauthorizedPorschedealer.Havethefaultremedied.
4.Afterthewarningsdisappear:Stopthevehicleinasuitableplace.
5.Performadaptionofthepowerwindows:

Ifthebatteryisdischarged,e.g.inwinterorafterthecarhasbeenparkedforalongtime,thebatteryofanothercarcanbeusedforstartingwiththehelpofjumpercables.Makesurethevoltageofbothbatteriesisthesame.Bothbatteriesmustbe12volttypes.Thecapacity(Amperehours,Ah)oftheboosterbatterymustnotbesubstantiallylessthanthatofthedischargedbattery.Thedischargedbatterymustbecorrectlyconnectedtothevehicle’selectricalsystem.

Connectjumpercablesinthefollowing
sequence:
Alwaysobservethesequencebelow:
1.Connectthepositivelead(red)tothepositiveterminalofthedischargedbatteryfirst,thenconnectittothepositiveterminalofthedonorbattery.
2.Firstconnectthenegativecable(black)tothenegativeterminalofthedonorbattery,thenconnectittoasuitablegroundingpointonthevehiclewiththedischargedbattery.Thisgroundingpointmustlieasfaraspossiblefromthebattery.Forexample,asolidmetalpartortheengineblockaresuitablegroundingpoints.Ifnosuitablegroundingpointsaretobefoundoneithervehicle,thenegativecablemustcarefullybeconnecteddirectlytothenegativeterminalofthebattery.Ifasuitablegroundingpointistobefoundonlyonthedonorvehicle,thenegativecablemustfirstbeconnectedtotheterminalofthedischargedbattery,thentothegroundingpointofthedonorvehicle.
3.Runtheengineofthedonorcaratahigherspeed.
4.Starttheengine.Anattemptedstartusingjumpercablesshouldnotlastmorethan15seconds.Thenallowawaitingperiodofatleastoneminute.
Note
Beforedisconnectingthejumpercables,electricalloadssuchastheheatedrearwindowandtheheatingfanblowershouldbeswitchedon(thevehicle’slightsmustnotbeswitchedon).Thisreducesvoltagepeakswhichmayoccurwhendisconnectingthejumpercables.
5.Withtheenginerunning,removebothjumpleadsinreverseorder.
