Theuseofinfantorchildrestraintsisrequiredbylawinall50statesoftheU.S.andallCanadianprovinces.ThechildrestraintsystemshouldbeonethatcomplieswithU.S.Federal/CanadianMotorVehicleSafetyStandardsandshouldbesecuredbyalapbeltorlapbeltportionofalap-shoulderbeltorforchildseatsequippedwiththeLATCHsytem(LowerAnchorageandTetherforChildren,alsoknownasISOFIX)totheLATCHanchorages.Astatementbytheseatmanufacturerofcompliancewiththisstandardcanbefoundontheinstructionlabelontherestraintandintheinstructionmanualprovidedwiththerestraint.

Activatingtheautomaticlockingretractor
1.Ifachildrestraintsystemmustbefastenedtothepassenger’sseat,adjustthepassenger’sseatasfarawayfromtheairbagaspossible.
2.Fastenchildseat.
3.Pullthesafetybeltretractorcompletelyout.Atthispointthelockingmechanismisactivated.
4.Insertthesafetybelttongueintothebuckleandmakecertainthatitisproperlylatched.Makenomoreadjustmentstotheseat.
5.Allowthesafetybelttoretractuntilitistightonthechildrestraintsystem.Youmayfurthertightenthebeltbypullingonittoallowmoreofittoretract.Makesurethatexcessiveseatbeltforcesdonotoccurbymovingtheseatwiththechildseatinstalled.
Releasingthesafetybelt
1.Unbucklethesafetybeltlatch.
2.Thenmakecertainthatthebelthasfullyretracted.Atthispointtheautomaticlockingfeaturewillbedisengaged.SeekappropriateadvicefromyourauthorizedPorschedealeraboutthepossibleinstallationofaPorschechildrestraintsystem.

TheRolloverProtectionSystemontheCabrioletconsistsoftwosupplementalsafetybarsthattogetherwiththefrontwindshieldframehelptocreateoccupantsurvivalspaceincaseofrollover.Becauseoftheextremeandunpredictableforceswhichcanbeencounteredinarollover,itisnotpossibletoguaranteethatoccupantswillbeprotectedfromallcontactwithexteriorobjectsortheground.However,theRolloverProtectionSystemisdesignedtomaintaintheoccupantsurvivalspace.

Distributionoftheenginepowerisdependentuponthewheelspeeddifferencebetweenthetwoaxles.Theviscousmultiple-discclutchalwaysdeliverssufficientdrivepowertothefrontwheels(approx.5%to40%)toensureoptimumtractionevenonapoorroadsurface.
IncombinationwiththePorscheStabilityManagement(PSM),four-wheeldriveimproveshandlingandincreasesdrivingstability.

TheABSsystemrepresentsamajorcontributiontotheenhancementofactivesafetyinyourvehicle.Thissystempreventsthewheelsfromlockinginapanicstoponalmostallroadsurfaces.
WiththeABSsysteminyourvehicle,the
followingareasareenhanced:
Steering,vehicleremainssteerableunderallbrakingforceswhenABSisengaged.
Gooddirectionalcontrol,noswervingcausedbylockingofwheelsunderbrakingconditions.
Shorterstoppingdistance,stoppingdistancesareusuallyreducedbecausecontrolledbrakingismaximized.
Preventionofwheellockup,nobrake-inducedslidingandthusnolocalizedtirewearfromemergencybraking.

Ifbrakingforcesapproachthewheellock-uppointforallwheels(panicbraking)theABSsystemwillintervenetoprovidearapidrythmicbraking.TheproperoperationofABSisperceivedbythedriverasapulsatingbrakepedalinconjunctionwithaudiblenoiseandperhapssomevibration.
Ifyouexperiencethesesensationswhiledrivingoraroadsurfacewithquestionabletraction,reducevehiclespeedappropriatefortheprevailingroadconditions.
Iffullbrakingshouldbenecessary,pressthebrakepedalallthewaydownthroughouttheentirebrakingprocedure,regardlessofthepulsatingpedal.Donoteaseuponpressureappliedtothepedal.
