Scrapping of your Lexus
The SRS airbag and seat belt pretensioner devices in your Lexus contain explosive
chemicals. If the vehicle is scrapped with the airbags and seat belt pretensioners left
as they are, this may cause an accident such as fire. Be sure to have the systems of
the SRS airbag and seat belt pretensioner removed and disposed of by a qualified
service shop or by your Lexus deal er before you scrap your vehicle.
Leak detection pump (for the U.S.A. and Canada)
This pump performs fuel evaporation leakage check. This check is conducted sev-
eral hours after the engine is turned off. You may hear a sound coming from under-
neath the luggage compartment for several minutes, however this does not indicate
a malfunction.
CAUTION
■General precautions while driving
Driving under the influence: Never drive your vehicle when under the influence of
alcohol or drugs that have impaired your ability to operate your vehicle. Alcohol
and certain drugs delay reaction time, impair judgment and reduce coordination,
which could lead to an accident that will hurt or kill you, your occupants or others.
Defensive driving: Always drive defensively. Anticipate mistakes that other drivers
or pedestrians might make and be ready to avoid accidents.
Driver distraction: Always give your full at tention to driving. Anything that distracts
the driver, such as adjusting controls, ta lking on a cellular phone or reading can
result in a collision with resulting death or serious injury to you, your occupants or
others.
■General precaution regarding children’s safety
Never leave children unattended in the vehi cle, and never allow children to have or
use the key.
Children may be able to start the vehicle or shift the vehicle into neutral. There is
also a danger that children may injure themselves by playing with the cigarette
lighter, the windows, the moon roof, or othe r features of the vehicle. In addition, heat
build-up or extremely cold temperatures inside the vehicle can be fatal to children.

Safety information for the Lexus Link System
Important! Read this information before using the Lexus Link System. ■Exposure to radio frequency signals
The Lexus Link System installed in your vehicle is a low power ratio trans-
mitter and receiver. When the ignition switch is in the “ON” position, it
receives and also sends radio frequency (RF) signals.
In August 1996, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)
adopted RF exposure guidelines with safety levels fo r mobile wireless
phones. Those guidelines are consistent with the safety standards previ-
ously set by both U.S. and international standards bodies.
● ANIS (American National Standards Institute) C95.1 [1992]
● NCRP (National Council on Radi ation Protection and Measurement)
Report 86 [1986]
● ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Pro-
tection) [1996]
Those standards were based on comp rehensive and periodic evaluations
of the relevant scientific literature. Over 120 scientists, engineers, and
physicians from universities, government health agencies, and industry
reviewed the available body of resear ch to develop the ANSI Standard
(C95.1).
The design of the Lexus Link System complies with the FCC guidelines in
addition to those standards.

your plan. They are easily billed to a credit card that is kept on file so no
separate phone bill is needed.
Personal calling universal voice recognition commands:
• “Help” The system will provide a list of available commands.
• “Clear” When you are entering digits, this command will erase the last
digit entered.

recognize your voice command proper ly. Say the command slowly again.
After the third time this happens, the system will try to guess the command
you are requesting. If correct, say “Yes”. If not, say “No”, and the system will
prompt you with its next-best guess.
• “Slower please” The system responds with this message if you say a com-

be recognized because of substant ial background noise. Try to wait
slightly longer before speaking.
■ There are 5 ways to make a call.
Dialing a specific number
