CAR PROTECTION SYSTEM FAILURE - LANCIA CODE
Turning the key to MAR the warning light on the dial shall flash only
once and then go off. If with the ignition key at MAR the warning
light comes on with fixed light (together with the message on the
display), this indicates a possible failure (see “The Lancia Code
system” in section “Dashboard and controls”).
IMPORTANT The turning on at the same time of the
UandYwarning lights indicates a failure of the Lancia CODE system.
If with the engine running the failure message is displayed, contact
Lancia Dealership.
If with the engine running the
Ywarning light flashes, this means
that the car is not protected by the engine inhibitor device (see “The
Lancia Code system” in section “Dashboard and controls”). Contact
Lancia Dealership to have all the keys memorised.

“DUALDRIVE” ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILURE
(where provided)
Turning the ignition key to MAR the warning light on the dial turns
on, but it should go off after few seconds.
If the warning light stays on (together with the message on the
display), you will not have steering assistance and the effort on the
steering wheel will be increased, steering is however possible. Contact
Lancia Dealership.
DIESEL FUEL FILTER SENSOR FAILURE
The warning light on the dial comes on (together with the message on
the display) when diesel fuel filter sensor failure is detected. Contact
Lancia Dealership as soon as possible to have the fault removed.
GLOW PLUG WARMING FAILURE (Multijet versions)
The warning light on the instrument panel flashes for about 30
seconds after starting the engine (together with the message on the
display) when there is a failure in the glow plug warming system.
Contact Lancia Dealership to have the fault eliminated.

ABS SYSTEM FAILURE - System unavailable
Turning the ignition key to MAR the warning light on the dial turns
on, but it should go off after few seconds.
The warning light turns on (together with the message on the display)
when the system is inefficient or unavailable.
In this case the braking system keeps its effectiveness unchanged, but
without the potential offered by the ABS system. Drive carefully and
contact Lancia Dealership as soon as possible.
RAIN SENSOR FAILURE
The warning light on the dial turns on (together with the message on
the display) when the rain sensor is faulty. Contact Lancia
Dealership.

AIR BAG FAILURE
Turning the ignition key to MAR the warning light on the dial turns
on, but it should go off after few seconds. The warning light stays on
glowing steadily (together with the message on the display) if there is
a failure in the air bag system.

The failure of the ¬warning light (warning light off) is also indicated by the
flashing for more than the normal seconds of the passenger’s front air bag deac-
tivated warning light

If warning light ¬does not come on when turning the key to MAR or if it stays
on when travelling it could indicate a failure in restraint systems; in this case air
bags or pretensioners could not trigger in the event of an accident, or in a
restricted numbers of cases they could trigger accidentally. Stop the car and
contact Lancia Dealership to have the system checked immediately.

EOBD - ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM FAILURE (petrol versions)
In normal conditions, turning the ignition key to MAR, the warning
light turns on, but it should go off when the engine has started.
The initial turning on indicates that the warning light is working
properly.
If the warning light stays on or turns on when travelling
(together with the message on the display):
❒glowing steadily- means a fault in the supply/ignition system
which could cause high emissions at the exhaust, possible lack of
performance, poor handling and high consumption levels.
In these conditions it is possible to continue driving without however
requiring heavy effort or high speed from the engine. Prolonged use of
the car with the warning light on may cause damages. Contact Lancia
Dealership as soon as possible.
The warning light goes off if the fault disappears, but it is still stored
by the system.

❒flashing- indicates the possibility of damage to the catalyst (see
“EOBD system” in section “Dashboard and controls”).
If the light flashes, it is necessary to release the accelerator pedal to
lower the speed of the engine until the warning light stops flashing;
continue the journey at moderate speed, trying to avoid driving
conditions that may cause further flashing and contact Lancia
Dealership as soon as possible.U

or flashing when the car is travelling (on certain versions together with the message on the display),
contact Lancia Dealership as soon as possible. Warning light
Uoperation can by checked by traf-
fic agents by proper equipment therefore, comply with laws and regulations in force in the country
where you are driving.
GENERIC FAILURE INDICATION
The warning light on the dial comes on when the engine oil pressure
sensor is faulty and, for Multijet versions with modal instrument
panel, also when a failure is detected in diesel fuel sensor. Contact
Lancia Dealership as soon as possible.
