BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE)

Removal and Installation of BCMNKS00344
REMOVAL
1. Remove the dash side finisher (LH). Refer to EI-38, "BODY
SIDE TRIM" .
2. Disconnect BCM connector.
3. Remove bracket mounting screws (3) to remove BCM and fuse block with bracket.
4. Raise the pawl of fuse block and remove bracket from fuse block to remove BCM.
INSTALLATION
Installation is the reverse order of removal.
NOTE:
When replacing BCM perform initialization of NATS system and registration of all NATS ignition key IDs.

Longitudinal Clearance and Surface Height Adjustment at Front End
Loosen the hinge mounting bolts. Raise the front door at rear end to adjust.
REAR DOOR
Longitudinal Clearance and Surface Height Adjustment at Front End
1. Remove the center pillar upper garnish and center pillar lower garnish. Refer to EI-38, "Removal and
Installation" .
2. Accessing from inside the vehicle, loosen the mounting nuts. Open the rear door, and raise the rear door at rear end to adjust.

REMOVAL
1. Remove front seat and rear seat cushion. Refer to SE-97, "Removal and Installation" and SE-104,
"Removal and Installation" .
2. Remove center console assembly. Refer to IP-10, "
INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY" .
3. Remove front and rear kicking plate. Refer to EI-38, "
Removal and Installation" .
4. Remove front and rear body side welt. Refer to EI-38, "
Removal and Installation" .
5. Remove center pillar lower garnish. Refer to EI-38, "
Removal and Installation" .
6. Remove footrest screw, cover and foot-rest.
7. Remove dash side finisher. Refer to EI-38, "
Removal and Instal-
lation" .
8. Remove foot-grille (RH/LH).
9. Remove NAVI control unit. Refer to AV- 1 5 5 , "

Installation of NAVI Control Unit" .
10. Remove carpet hook.

HEADLINING

REMOVAL
1. Remove front pillar garnish. Refer to EI-38, "Removal and Installation" .
2. Remove kicking plate (front/rear). Refer to EI-38, "
Removal and Installation" .
3. Remove body side welt. Refer to EI-38, "
Removal and Installation" .
4. Remove seat belt shoulder anchor (front/rear). Refer to SB-4, "
Removal and Installation of Front Seat
Belt" and SB-6, "Removal and Installation of Rear Seat Belt" .
5. Remove center pillar garnish (lower/upper) and luggage side finisher assembly and rear pillar upper gar- nish assembly. Refer to EI-38, "
Removal and Installation" and EI-45, "Removal and Installation" .
6. Remove assist grip caps and screw. Remove assist grip.
7. Remove sun-visor (RH/LH), and disconnect harness connector with lamp model.
8. Remove sun-visor holder.
9. Remove DVD display rear. Refer to AV- 1 7 2 , "
Removal and Installation for DVD Display Unit" .
10. Remove roof console.
11. Remove LDW camera unit. Refer to DI-104, "
Removal and Installation for LDW Camera Unit" .
12. Disconnect harness connector at front left side of headlining.
13. Put front seat to front most and recline seat back to backward.
14. Remove headlining, turn and take out from back door. CAUTION:

Always remove or install in a pair.

Cover surroundings with waste to avoid scratches or damages.

Do not bend headlining too hard.
15. Remove following parts after removing headlining.

1. Remove passenger-side kicking plate, dash side finisher, and glove box. Refer to EI-38, "BODY SIDE
TRIM" and IP-10, "INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY" .
2. Disconnect engine room harness connectors at unit sides TCM, ECM and other.
3. Disengage intermediate fixing point. Pull out engine room harnesses to engine room side, and temporarily secure them on engine.
CAUTION:

When pulling out harnesses, take care not to damage harnesses and connectors.

After temporarily securing, cover connectors with vinyl or similar material to protect against for-
eign material adhesion.
Vehicle Underbody
1. Remove A/T fluid cooler hoses and power steering oil pump oil cooler hoses.

Install plug to avoid leakage of A/T fluid and power steering fluid.
2. Remove exhaust front tube and center muffler. Refer to EX-3, "
EXHAUST SYSTEM" .
3. Disconnect steering lower joint at power steering gear assembly side, and release steering lower shaft. Refer to PS-13, "
STEERING COLUMN" .
4. Remove tunnel stay. Refer to RSU-5, "
REAR SUSPENSION ASSEMBLY" .
5. Remove rear propeller shaft. Refer to PR-7, "
REAR PROPELLER SHAFT" .

After disconnection, plug the opening on transmission assembly side.
6. Disengage A/T control rod at control device assembly side. Then, temporarily secure it on the transmis- sion assembly, so that it does not sag. Refer to AT- 2 2 9 , "
SHIFT CONTROL SYSTEM" .
7. Remove rear plate from oil pan (upper). Then remove bolts fixing drive plate to torque converter. Refer to EM-30, "
OIL PAN AND OIL STRAINER" and AT- 2 6 6 , "TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY" .
8. Remove transmission joint bolts which pierce at oil pan (upper) lower rear side. Refer to AT- 2 6 6 , "
TRANS-
MISSION ASSEMBLY" .
9. Remove front stabilizer. Refer to FSU-16, "
STABILIZER BAR" .
10. Separate steering outer sockets from steering knuckle. Refer to PS-18, "
POWER STEERING GEAR AND
LINKAGE" .
11. Separate transverse links from suspension member and vehicle body. Refer to FSU-14, "
TRANSVERSE
LINK" .
Removal Work
1. Use a manual lift table caddy (commercial service tool) or equiv-
alently rigid tool such as a transmission jack. Securely support
bottom of suspension member and the transmission assembly.
CAUTION:
Put a piece of wood or something similar as the supporting
surface, secure a completely stable condition.
2. Remove rear engine mounting member bolts.
3. Remove front suspension member mounting nuts. Refer to FSU-6, "
FRONT SUSPENSION ASSEMBLY" .

7. Disconnect harness connector from transmission assembly and transfer assembly.
8. Disengage A/T control rod at control device assembly side. Then, temporarily secure it on the transmis- sion assembly, so that it does not sag. Refer to AT- 2 2 9 , "
SHIFT CONTROL SYSTEM" .
9. Remove rear plate from oil pan (upper). Then remove bolts fixing drive plate to torque converter. Refer to EM-30, "
OIL PAN AND OIL STRAINER" and AT- 2 6 6 , "TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY" .
10. Remove bolts fixing the transmission assembly to lower rear side of oil pan (upper). Refer to AT- 2 6 6 ,
"TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY" .
11. Remove front stabilizer. Refer to FSU-16, "
STABILIZER BAR" .
12. Separate steering outer sockets from steering knuckle. Refer to PS-18, "
POWER STEERING GEAR AND
LINKAGE" .
13. Separate transverse links from suspension member and vehicle body. Refer to FSU-14, "
TRANSVERSE
LINK" .
Removal Work

REMOVAL
1. Remove the front pillar garnish. Refer to EI-38, "BODY SIDE TRIM" .
2. Partially remove the headlining (front edge). Refer to EI-43, "
HEADLINING" .
3. Remove the front wiper arms. Refer to WW-37, "
Removal and Installation of Front Wiper and Washer
Switch" .
4. Remove the cowl top cover. Refer to EI-23, "
COWL TOP" .
5. Pull the molding using the pliers.
6. Apply a protective tape around the windshield glass to protect the painted surface from damage.
After removing moldings, remove glass using piano wire or power cutting tool and an inflatable pump bag.
