o The SRS can function only when
the ignition key is in the "ON" position. If the SRS SRI does not come on, or continuously re-mains on, after flashing for about 6 seconds when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position, orafter the engine is started, or comes on while driving, the SRS is not working properly. If thisoccurs, have your vehicle imme- diately inspected by your Hyundai dealer.
o Before you replace a fuse or dis- connect a battery terminal, turnthe ignition key to the "LOCK"position or remove the ignition key. Never remove or replace the air bag related fuse(s) when theignition key is in the "ON" posi- tion. The passenger's front airbag can be deactivated by the passenger's frontairbag ON/OFF switch (1) if a child restraint is installed on the front passenger's seat or if the frontpassenger's seat is unoccupied by a person. To ensure the safety of your child, thepassenger's front airbag must be deac- tivated when it should be necessary to install a rearward facing child seat onthe front passenger seat in exceptional circumstances. (1)
To deactivate or reactivate the passenger's front airbag To deactivate the passenger's front airbag, insert the master key into the passenger's front airbag ON/OFF switchon the right side of the crash pad and turn it to the "OFF" position. The passenger's front airbag OFF indicatorwill illuminate and stay on until the passenger's front airbag is reactivated. To reactivate the passenger's front airbag, insert the master key into the passenger's front airbag ON/OFF switchand turn it to the "ON" position. The passenger's front airbag OFF indicator will go out.

!WARNING:
o The driver is responsible for the proper position of the passenger's front airbag ON/OFF switch.
! CAUTION:
o If the passenger's front airbag ON/ OFF switch is not working prop- erly, the SRS warning light on the instrument panel will illuminate. If this occurs, have an authorizedHyundai dealer inspect the passenger's front airbag ON/OFF switch, the pre-tensioner seat beltsystem and the SRS airbag sys- tem as soon as possible.
o If the SRS airbag warning light
does not illuminate when the igni-tion key is turned to the "ON" position, or if it illuminates while the vehicle is being driven, have an authorized Hyundai dealer in-spect the passenger's front airbag ON/OFF switch, pre-tensioner seat belt and the SRS airbag system assoon as possible.o Deactivate the front passenger'sairbag only when the ignition switch is switched off, or the malfunction may occur in the SRSCM (SRSControl Module). And there may be a danger that the driver's and/or passenger's front and/or side airbagmay fail to trigger, or not trigger correctly during a collision.
o Never install a rearward facing child seat on the front passenger'sseat. The infant or child could be severely injured or killed by anairbag deployment in case of an accident.
o Even though your vehicle is equipped with the passenger'sairbag ON/OFF switch, do not in- stall a child restraint system in thefront passenger's seat. A child re- straint system must never be placed in the front seat. Childrenwho are too large for child re- straint systems should always occupy the rear seat and use theavailable lap/shoulder belts. Children are afforded the most safety in the event of an accidentwhen they are restrained by a proper restraint system in the rear seat. The purpose of the airbag is to provide the vehicle'sdriver and/or the front passenger with additional protection than that offered by the seatbelt alone. The air bags are not designed to deploy in all side impact situations.

WARNING:
When the Passenger Front Air Bag system is not deactivated – Do not install a child restraint system in the front passenger seat position. Theinfant or child could be severely injured or killed by the air bag de- ploying in case of an accident.

! CAUTION:
When installing a container of liquid air freshener inside a vehicle, do notplace it near the instrument cluster not on the instrument panel pad surface. If there is any leakage fromthe air freshener onto these areas (instrument cluster, instrument panel pad or air ventilator), it may damagethese parts. If the liquid from the air freshener does leak onto these ar- eas, wash them with water immedi-ately.
WARNING:
o When the SRS is activated, there may be a loud noise and fine dustwill be released throughout thevehicle. These conditions are nor- mal and are not hazardous. How- ever, the fine dust generated dur-ing airbag deployment may cause skin irritation. Be sure to wash your hands and face thoroughlywith lukewarm water and a mild soap after an accident in which the airbags were deployed. o The SRS can function only when

o Should at any time a fault develop in the passenger air bag system whilst the front passenger air bag is deactivated, the passenger front air bag OFF indicator warning lightwill immediately go out and the SRS service reminder warning light will be displayed.
o Should this condition happen the rear facing child seat must be re-moved as soon as possible fromthe front passenger seat and the vehicle should taken to the near- est Hyundai Authorised Repairerto have the SRS air bag system checked out.
The passenger front air bag deactiva-tion system is intended to reduce un- necessary repair costs for the replace-ment of the passenger air bag system as a result of collision damage when the passengers seat is unoccupied andalso to facilitate for the fitting of a rear facing child seat in the front passenger seat position.
To Deactivate Or Reactvate the Passengers Front Air Bag. To deactivate the passengers front air bag, insert the ignition key into the ON/ OFF switch located on the left side ofthe crash pad and turn it to the "OFF" position. The passengers front air bag OFF indicator light located within theinstrument cluster will illuminate and stay on until the passenger front air bag is reactivated. To reactivate the passengers front airbag, insert the ignition key into the ON/OFF switch located on the left sideof the crash pad and turn it to the "ON" position. The passenger’s front air bag OFF indicator light located within theinstrument cluster will not now be illumi- nated.

CAUTION:
When a rear facing seat is fitted to the passenger front seat position the following must be adhered – the
passenger's front air bag must be deactivated, the passenger seat mustbe located in its rear most position and only a Hyundai approved rear facing child seat must be fitted.

The purpose of the airbag is to provide the vehicle's driver and/or the front passen-ger with additional protection than that offered by the seat belt alone. o When a fault develops in the Passenger's Front Air bag Deacti- vation/ Reactivation system the SRS Control Module puts the sys- tem into its 'safe' mode which willautomatically reactivate the pas- sengers front air bag system which is why the passenger's front airbag OFF indicator goes out, the fault in the system is then indi- cated by the SRS service reminderlight being displayed.
o SHOULD A COLLISION OCCUR
THE PASSENGER’S FRONT AIRBAG COULD THEN INFLATE, EVEN IF THE DEACTIVATION SWITCH IS SET TO THE 'OFF' POSITION.
! CAUTION:
If the SRS service reminder warning light does not illuminate when theignition key is turned on, or if it illuminates whist the vehicle is be- ing driven, then the vehicle shouldbe inspected immediately by a Hyundai Authorised Repairer to have the SRS air bag system checked out.
!WARNING:
It is the driver's responsibility for the correct usage of the passengers front
air bag switch. Deactivate the passenger's front air bag only whenthe ignition is switched off, or a malfunction may occur in the SRS Control Module. As soon as deacti-vation is no longer needed, reacti- vate the passenger's front airbag.
