This indicator normally comes on f or
a f ew seconds when you turn the
ignition switch to the ON (II)
position.
If itcomesonandstaysonatany
other time, or if it does not come on
when you turn the ignition switch to
the ON (II) position, there is a
problem with the VSA system. Take
your vehicle to a dealer to have it
checked. Without VSA, your vehicle
still has normal driving ability, but
will not have VSA traction and
stability enhancement. See pagef or more inf ormation on the
VSA system. This indicator comes on when you
turn on the cruise control system by
pressing the CRUISE button (see
page ).
This indicator comes on when you
set the cruise control. See page
f or inf ormation on operating the
cruise control.
This indicator has three f unctions:
Itcomesonasareminderthatyou
have turned off the vehicle
stability assist (VSA) system.
It flashes when VSA is active (see
page ).
It comes on along with the VSA
system indicator if there is a
problem with the VSA system.

In certain weather conditions,
temperature readings near f reezing
(32°F, 0°C) could mean that ice is
f orming on the road surf ace.
When the temperature reaches the
outside temperature displayed.
NOTE: The temperature must be
stabilized bef ore doing this
procedure.
If the outside temperature is
incorrectly displayed, you can adjust
it 5°F in U.S. models ( 3°C in
Canadian models) warmer or cooler.
This indicator displays the outside
temperature in Fahrenheit (U.S.
models) or Centigrade (Canadian
models). To see the outside
temperature, press and release the
temperature is displayed.
The temperature sensor is in the
f ront bumper. Theref ore, the
temperature reading can be af f ected
by heat ref lection f rom the road
surf ace, engine heat, and the
exhaust f rom surrounding traf f ic.
This can cause an incorrect
temperature reading when your
speed is under 19 mph (30 km/h). Select the outside temperature
indicator, then press the Select/
Reset knob f or 10 seconds. The
f ollowing sequence will appear f or 1
secondeach:0,1,2,3,4,5, 5, 4,
3, 2, 1, 0 (U.S.) or 0, 1, 2, 3,
3, 2, 1, 0 (Canada).
The sensor delays the display update
until it reaches the correct outside
temperature. This may take several
minutes. If your f uel f ill cap is loose or
missing, a ‘‘CHECK FUEL CAP’’
message appears on the information
display af ter you start the engine.
Turn the engine of f , and conf irm the
f uel f ill cap is installed. If it is, loosen
it, then retighten it until it clicks at
least once. When you restart the
engine, the message appears again.
The message goes of f af ter several
days of normal driving once you
tighten or replace the fuel fill cap. To
scroll to another display, press the
CONT INUED

You can also open both power
windows from outside the vehicle
with the remote transmitter (see
page ).
Press this button once
to unlock the driver’s door. Push it
twice to unlock the passenger’s door.
Some exterior lights will f lash twice
each time you push the button.
The ceiling light (if the ceiling light
switch is in the door activated
position) will come on when you
press the UNLOCK button. If you do
not open either door within 30
seconds, the lights f ade out. If you
relock the doors with the remote
transmitter before 30 seconds have
elapsed, the lights will go of f
immediately.
Press this button once to
lock both doors. Some exterior lights
will f lash once.
When you push the LOCK button
twice within 5 seconds, the lights will
flash and the horn will beep to verify
that the doors are locked and that
the security system has set. The
LOCK button will not work this way
if either door is not f ully closed.
When the key is in the ignition
switch, the f unctions of each button
are disabled.
Press this
button f or about 1 second to open
the trunk.
Press and hold this
button for about 2 seconds to attract
attention: the horn will sound and
the exterior lights will f lash f or about
30 seconds. To cancel panic mode,
press any other button on the remote
transmitter, or turn the ignition
switch to the ON (II) position.
If you do not open either door within
30 seconds, the doors automatically
relock and the security system sets. 92

The f ront ceiling light has a two-
position switch; Door Activated and
OFF.In the Door Activated position, both
ceiling lights come on when you:
Turn on a spotlight by pushing the
lens. Push the lens again to turn it
of f . You can use the spotlights at all
times.
Open either door.
Unlock the driver’s door with the
master door lock switch, lock tab,
key, or the remote transmitter.
Remove the key from the ignition
switch.
Af ter both doors are closed tightly,
the light(s) dims slightly, then f ade
out in about 30 seconds.
If you do not open either door af ter
unlocking the driver’s door or
removing the key from the ignition
switch, the light(s) f ades out in
about 30 seconds.
If you leave either door open without
the key in the ignition switch, the
ceiling light(s) will go of f af ter 3
minutes.

The courtesy light in each door
comes on when the door is opened,
and goes out when the door is closed.Your vehicle also has a courtesy light
in the ignition switch. This light

If you are
traveling far from home and can no
longer receive your preset stations,
you can use the auto select feature to
find stations in the local area. You will see a ‘‘0’’ displayed af ter
pressing a preset bar if auto select
cannot f ind a strong station f or every
preset bar.

A. SEL (auto select) button. This
restores the presets you originally
set.
Press the A. SEL button. ‘‘A.SEL’’
f lashes in the display, and the system
goes into scan mode f or several
seconds. It stores the f requencies of
six AM, and twelve FM stations in
the preset bars.
If you do not like the stations auto
select has stored, you can store
other f requencies on the preset bars
as previously described.Press the SOUND button repeatedly
to display the bass (BAS), treble
(TRE), f ader (FAD), and balance
(BAL) settings.
The system will return to the audio
display about 5 seconds af ter you
stop adjusting a mode.Adjusts the bass.

If you select an empty slot in the
magazine, the changer will search
f or the next available CD to load and
play.
If there are no CDs in the changer,
the display will f lash, and you will
have to select another mode.
Press the eject button ( ) to
remove the CD. If you eject the CD,
but do not remove it f rom the slot,
the system will automatically reload
the CD af ter 15 seconds and put it in
pause mode. To begin playing, press
the CD/AUX button.
Press the AM/FM button to switch
to the AM/FM radio while a CD is
playing. To play the CD, press the
CD/AUX button.
If a tape is in the optional tape player,
press the CD/AUX button to switch
to the tape while a CD is playing.
Press the CD/AUX button again to
switch back to the CD player. To select the CD changer, press the
CD/AUX button. The disc and track
numbers will be displayed. To select
a dif f erent disc, use the preset 5
(DISC ) side or preset 6 (DISC )
side of the preset bar. To select the
previous disc, press the preset 5
(DISC ), or preset 6 (DISC ) to
select the next disc in sequence.
If you turn the system of f while a CD
is playing, either with the AUDIO
PWR knob or by turning of f the
ignition, the disc will stay in the drive.
When you turn the system back on,
the CD will begin playing where it
left off. An optional six or eight disc CD
changer is available f or your vehicle
f rom your dealer.
This disc changer uses the same
controls used f or the in-dash CD
player or the radio.
Load the desired CDs into the
magazine, and load the magazine
into the changer according to the
instructions that came with the unit.
