6. Detach the steering gear to power steering All vehicles

7. Remove the steering gear heat shield.
9. Disconnect the power steering lines from the
steering gear valve body.
I. Remove the retaining bolt.
2. Rotate the clamp plate.
Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable
container.
Discard the O-ring seals.
10. Remove the steering gear to power steering
fluid cooler return hose.
Installation
1. N0TE:Make sure that the collar on the hose
is fully inserted into the quick release
coupling.
N0TE:Check the power steering lines to steering
gear valve body O-ring seals for damage or fatigue.

N0TE:Note the position of the steering gear Install new O-rin~ seals as necessary. - to power steering fluid cooler return hose to
aid installation. To
install, reverse the removal procedure.

Removal 2. Lower the power steering fluid cooler. '-..
I. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional

2. Disconnect the power steering fluid cooler
quick release couplings.
1. Press the power steering fluid cooler hose
quick release coupling locking tangs.
2. Disconnect the power steering fluid cooler
hose quick release coupling.
Allow the fluid to drain into a suitable
container.
3. Remove the radiator splash shield.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Remove the power steering fluid cooler.
I. Remove the retaining bolt.
Installation
1. N0TE:Make sure that the collar on the hose
is inserted fully into the quick release
coupling.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
2. Fill and bleed the power steering system. For
additional information, refer to: (211 -00

Intake Manifold(21 183 0)
Removal 6. Remove the intake manifold lower retaining
bolt.
A WARNING:Do not smoke or carry lighted
tobacco or open flame of any type when
working on or near any fuel related
components. Highly flammable mixtures
are always present and may ignite. Failure
to follow these instructions may result in
personal injury.
1. Release the fuel system pressure. For
additional information, refer to
Section
31 0-00 [Fuel System - General
Information].
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For
additional information, refer to
Section

4. Detach the power steering fluid reservoir

it to one side.

8. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation
(PCV) hose from the PCV.

16. Connect the evaporate emission (EVAP)
hose to the EVAP valve.
17. Connect the brake booster vacuum line to
the intake manifold.
19. Connect the engine wiring harness
electrical connector.
20. Install the intake manifold lower retaining
bolt and the generator bracket retaining
bolts.
18. Connect the positive crankcase ventilation
(PCV) hose to the PCV.
21. Install the accessory drive belt. For
additional information, refer to
Section
303-05 [Accessory Drive].
22. Attach the power steering fluid reservoir to
the bracket.
23. Install the air cleaner. For additional
information, refer to Section
3031 2 [Intake
Air Distribution and Filtering].
