Two switching off modes are provided:
❒when closing all doors, the 3-minute
timing will go off and a 10-second one
will start. This timing will go off when
turning the key to MAR;
❒when locking the doors (by both re-
mote control or key into driver’s door
lock), the ceiling light goes off.
On Emotion and Dynamic versions, ceil-
ing light will switch on and off gradually;
the ceiling light will switch off automati-
cally 15 minutes after turning the engine
off.BOOT LIGHT fig. 54
For versions fitted with boot light, the bulb
comes on automatically when opening the
tailgate and it will go off at closing. Ceiling light timing
(transparent central position)
Three different switching on modes are
provided:

time a door is opened;
❒approx. 10-second timing will start
when removing the ignition key within
two minutes from turning the engine
off;
❒approx. 10-second timing will start

WATER IN DIESEL
FUEL FILTER (Multijet
versions -
amber)
Turning the ignition key to MARthe
warning light turns on, but it should go off
after few seconds.
The warning light cturns on when there
is water in the diesel fuel filter. On certain
versions warning light èwill turn on.
On certain versions the dedicated mes-
sage is displayed.

The presence of water in the
fuel circuit may cause serious
damage to the entire injec-
tion system and cause irreg-
ular engine operation. If the warning
light cturns on (on certain versions
the warning light ètogether with the
message on the display) contact Fiat
Dealership as soon as possible to have
the system relieved. If the above indi-
cations come on immediately after re-
fuelling, water has probably been
poured into the tank: turn the engine
off immediately and contact Fiat Deal-
ership.
EXTERNAL LIGHT
FAILURE (amber)
The warning light turns on
when one of the following lights is failing:
– side/taillights
– brake lights (third brake light excluded)
– rear fog lights
– direction indicators
– number plate lights.
The failure referring to these lights could
be: one or more blown bulbs, a blown
protection fuse or an electric connection
cut-off.
The dedicated message is displayed.

REAR FOG LIGHTS
(amber)
The warning light turns on
when the rear fog lights are turned on.
HEATED REAR
WINDOW (amber)
The warning light turns on
when switching the heated rear window
on.

FIAT CODE
(amber)
Turning the key to MARthe warning light
shall flash only once and then go off.
If with the ignition key at MAR, the warn-
ing light stays on, this indicates a possible
failure (see “Fiat Code system” in section
“Dashboard and controls”).
IMPORTANT The turning on at the same
time of the Uand Ywarning lights in-
dicates a failure of the Fiat CODE system.
If with the engine running the warning light
Yflashes, this means that the car is not
protected by the engine inhibitor device
(see “Fiat Code system” in section “Dash-
board and controls”).
Contact Fiat Dealership to have all the key
memorised.

WHEN NEEDING
TO CHANGE A BULB
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
❒Before changing a bulb check the con-
tacts for oxidation;
❒ Burnt bulbs must be replaced by oth-
ers of the same type and power;
❒Always check headlight aiming after
changing a bulb to ensure they are safe;
❒When a light is not working, check that
the corresponding fuse is intact before
changing a bulb: for the location of fus-
es, refer to paragraph “If a fuse blows”
in this section.
Alterations or repairs to the
electric system not carried
out correctly and without taking into
account the system specifications
may cause failures and the risk of fire.
WARNING
Halogen bulbs contain pres-
surised gas, in the case of
breakage they may burst.
WARNING
Halogen bulbs must be han-
dled touching only the metal-
lic part. If the transparent
bulb is touched with the fin-
gers, its lighting intensity is reduced and
life of the bulb may be compromised.
If touched accidentally, rub the bulb
with a cloth moistened with methylat-
ed spirit and allow to dry.

TYPES OF BULBS fig. 20
Various types of bulbs are fitted to your
car:
A All glass bulbs: these are pressed on.
Pull to remove.
B Bayonet type bulbs: press the bulb,
then counterclockwise to remove this
type of bulb from its holder.
C Tubular bulbs: free them from their
contacts to remove.
D Halogen bulbs: to remove the bulb,
release the clip holding the bulb in
place.
E Halogen bulbs: to remove the bulb,
release the clip holding the bulb in
place.

Where possible, it is advisable
to have bulbs changed c/o Fi-
at Dealership. The correct
operation and aiming of the
outer lights are vital to the safety of the
car and its passengers and the subject
of specific laws.
IMPORTANT The headlight inner surface
might be slightly misted: this should not be
considered irregular but a natural phe-
nomenon due to low temperature and the
air humidity level. Misting will disappear as
soon as the headlights are turned on.
Drops inside the headlight mean water in-
filtration: contact Fiat Dealership.

proceed as follows:
❒release clip A-fig. 21and remove cap
B;
❒turn the bulb-holder D-fig. 22and re-
move it (it is pressure-fitted);

FRONT LIGHT UNITS
To change the bulb, proceed as follows:
❒release clip A-fig. 21 and remove cap
B;
❒turn the bulb-holder C-fig. 22and re-
move it (it is pressure-fitted);
❒remove the burnt bulb E-fig. 23 and fit
the new bulb;
❒refit by reversing the above mentioned
operations.

SIDE DIRECTION INDICATORS
To change the bulb, proceed as follows:
❒push the transparent cover A-fig. 27
towards car running direction (it is
pressure-fitted);
❒remove connector G-fig. 25;
❒release the bulb holder catch H;
❒remove the burnt bulb I-fig. 26and fit
the new bulb;
❒refit by reversing the above mentioned
operations.
