IMPORTANT The presence of warning lights may vary according to the engine version and fittings.
The warning lights come on in the following circumstances:
Warning Messagelight on panel on display
ENGINE COOLANT TOO HOT (red)
Turning the key to MAR the warning light on the dial turns on, but it should go off after about 4
seconds.
The warning light turns on together with the message when the engine is overheated. If the warn-
ing light comes on while the car is moving, stop the car and keep the engine running. Accelerate
slightly to favour a better circulation of coolant. If the warning light does not go out in the follow-
ing two or three minutes, stop the engine and contact a Fiat Dealership.
LOW BRAKE FLUID LEVEL AND/OR HANDBRAKE ENGAGED (red)
Turning the ignition key to MAR the warning light on the dial turns on, but it should go off after
about 4 seconds. The warning light turns on together with the message when the level of the brake
fluid in the reservoir falls below the minimum level, due to possible leak in the circuit and when the
handbrake is engaged.

u
If the warning light xturns on when travelling, check that the handbrake is not
engaged. If the warning light stays on with the message and the handbrake is not
applied, stop immediately and contact Fiat Dealership.WARNING

DOORS OPEN (red)
The warning light on the dial turns on together with the message when a door or the tailgate are
not properly shut.
FRONT BRAKES PADS WEAR (red)
The warning light on the dial turns on together with the message when pressing the brake pedal if
front brake pads are worn; in this case have them changed as soon as possible.
IMPORTANT Since the car is fitted with wear sensors for the front brake pads, when changing
them, check also the rear brake pads.
LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE (red)
Turning the key to MAR the warning light on the dial turns on, but it should go out as soon as
the engine is started.

ABS (WHEEL ANTI-LOCKING SYSTEM) FAILURE (red)
Turning the key to MAR the warning light on the dial turns on, but it should go off after about 4
seconds.
The warning light turns on together with the message when the system is inefficient. In this case
the braking system keeps its effectiveness unchanged, but without the potential offered by the
ABS system. Caution is advisable, particularly in all cases of less than perfect grip. It is therefore
necessary to contact Fiat Dealership.
ELECTRONIC BRAKEFORCE DISTRIBUTOR (EBD) FAILURE
The car is fitted with an electronic brakeforce distributor (EBD). Warning lights >and xand the
message at the same time, with the engine running, indicate a failure concerning the EBD system.
In this case violent braking may be accompanied by early rear wheel locking with the possibility of
skidding. Drive the car extremely carefully to the nearest Fiat Dealership to have the system checked.
ESP SYSTEM (ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM) (where provided) (amber)
Turning the ignition key to MAR, the warning light on the dial comes on but shall go off after few
seconds.
If the warning light does not go off or stays on when travelling, contact Fiat Dealership.
Warning light flashing when driving indicates that the ESP system is active.

WARNINGWarning light >turning on together with the message when the engine is running,
normally indicates a failure concerning the ABS only. In this case the braking
system is still efficient, though without the anti-locking device. Under these
conditions, performance of the EBD system may be reduced. Also in this case, you
are advised to go immediately to the nearest Fiat Dealership, driving in such a way
to avoid sharp braking to have the system checked.

BUMP STARTING
Never bump start the engine by pushing, towing or
coasting downhill.
This could cause fuel to flow into the catalytic
converter and damage it beyond repair.
IMPORTANT Remember that the servobrake and
electrical power steering system are not operating
until the engine is started, a greater effort will
therefore be required to press the brake pedal or turn
the steering wheel.IF A TYRE IS PUNCTURED
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
For versions/markets where applicable, the car can be
fitted with a quick tyre repair kit called FIX & GO,
replacing the usual tool fitting, the spare wheel lifting
winch and the space-saver spare wheel.
Normal spare small wheel, or (where provided)
normal size spare wheel, can be supplied on request;
for its use, follow what indicated below.
VAN versions are fitted as standard with a spare
wheel with steel rim of the same type and size as the
standard wheels mounted on the car.
Wheel changing and correct use of the jack and space-
saver spare wheel call for some precautions as listed
below.
WARNINGAlert other drivers that the car is stationary in compliance with local regulations:
hazard warning lights, warning triangle, etc. Any passengers on board should leave the
car, especially if it is heavily laden. Passengers should stay away from oncoming traffic
while the wheel is being changed. If parked on a slope or rough surface, chock the
wheels with wedges or other suitable devices to prevent the car from rolling.

Please note:
❒the jack weight is 3.5 kg
❒the jack requires no adjustment
❒the jack cannot be repaired and in the event of a fault it must be
replaced by another original one
❒no tool other than its cranking device may be fitted on the jack.
To change a wheel proceed as follows:
❒Stop the car is a position that is not dangerous for oncoming traffic
where you can change the wheel safely. The ground should be flat and
adequately firm. At night choose a lit area;
❒Turn the engine off and pull up the handbrake;
❒Engage first gear or reverse;
❒Take out tools, jack and space-saver spare wheel;
❒Tools are located in a compartment on the left side of the boot. To
have access, turn the clasp (A) anticlockwise and take off cover (B);
they are secured by a strap (C) that has to be released to remove
them;
❒Label (D) on the internal side of the cover shows how to remove and
refit tools in the compartment;
❒The space-saver spare wheel is located under the body at the back of
the car;

INFLATING PROCEDURE
WARNINGPut on the protection gloves provided
together with quick tyre repair kit.
❒Pull up the handbrake. Loosen tyre inflation valve cap, take the filler
hose (A) out and screw the ring nut (B) on the tyre valve;
❒make sure the compressor switch (D) is set at 0 (off), then start the
engine and fit plug (E) into the nearest outlet and turn on the
compressor by setting switch (D) to I (on). Inflate the tyre to the
pressure value specified in paragraph “Inflation pressure” in section
“Technical Specifications”. Check tyre pressure on gauge (F) with
compressor off to obtain precise reading;
❒if after 5 minutes it is still impossible to reach at least 1.5 bar,
disengage compressor from valve and outlet, then move the car forth
for approx. ten metres in order to distribute the sealing fluid inside the
tyre evenly, then repeat the inflation operation;

❒if also in this case, after 5 minutes from turning the
compressor on it is still impossible to reach at least
1.8 bar, do not start driving since the tyre is
excessively damaged and the quick tyre repair kit
cannot guarantee suitable sealing, contact Fiat
Dealership;
❒if the proper tyre pressure has been reached (see
paragraph “Inflation pressure” in section “Technical
Specifications”, start driving immediately;❒after driving for about 10 minutes stop and check
again the tyre pressure; pull up the handbrake;
WARNING
WARNING
WARNING
Apply the sticker in a visible position
for the driver to indicate that the tyre
has been treated with the quick tyre
repair kit. Drive carefully especially
when cornering. Do not exceed 80
km/h. Avoid heavy braking and
accelerating.
It is of vital importance to
communicate that the tyre has been
repaired using the quick tyre repair kit.
Hand the instruction brochure to the
personnel charged with treating the
tyre repaired with the kit. If the pressure falls below 1.8 bars, do
not drive any further: the quick tyre
repair kit Fix & Go automatic cannot
guarantee proper hold
because the tyre
is too much damaged.
Contact Fiat
Dealership.
❒if pressure read is at least 1.8 bar, restore proper
pressure (with engine running and handbrake on)
and restart;
❒drive with the utmost care to the nearest Fiat
Dealership.
