Deactivation indicator lights
The lighting of one of the following in-
d i c a t o r l i g h t s c o n i r m s t h a t t h e c o r r e s -
ponding system has been switched off
intentionally. Passenger air bag system
disarmed.
The passenger air bag system
is activated automatically when
the vehicle is started.
A special switch, located in the glove
box, permits the disarming of this sys-
t e m . T h i s i s c o n i r m e d b y c o n t i n u o u s
lighting of this indicator light. Deactivation of the dynamic
stability control
(ESP).
The ESP system is activated automati-
cally when the vehicle is started.
A special button, located in the
centre of the fascia, permits the
deactivation of this system as
well as of the steering/ESP cou-
p l i n g s y s t e m ( S S P ) . T h i s i s c o n i r m e d
by continuous lighting of this indicator
light and of the indicator light on the but-
ton.

has been selected, you gain access to
the following parameters:
- selection of the palette of colours available for the display,
- setting of the brightness and bril- liance of the display,
- setting of the date and time (12 or 24 hour mode, adjustment of the
minutes on GPS),
- selection of the units (temperature in °Celsius or °Fahrenheit; consump-
tion in l/100 km or mpg or km/l).

"Video" menu
Sounds
Once the "Sounds" menu has been se-
lected, you gain access to the following
parameters:
- setting of the voice commands,
- setting of the voice synthesiser (vol-
ume, male or female),
- activation of the auxiliary input AUX. Language selection
Once the "Language selection" menu
has been selected, you gain access to
the following parameters:
- selection of the display language
(Français, English, Italiano, Portugues,
Espanol, Deutsch, Nederlands),
- selection of the information and voice c om m ands language ( F r anç ais ,
English, Italiano, Portugues, Espanol,
Deutsch, Nederlands).
You can connect video equipment (cam-
corder, digital camera, DVD player, ...) to
the three audio/video sockets, located in
the glove box.
Videos can only be displayed when
stationary.
Once this menu has been selected, you
can select:
- "Activate video mode" to activate/ deactivate the video,
- "Video parameters" to set the dis- play format, the brightness, the con-
trast and the colours.
Press the "MODE" or "DARK" but-
ton to disconnect the displaying of
the video.
Press the "SOURCE" button several
times in succession to select an audio
source other than that of the video.
The RT4 GPS audio/telephone must
reinitialise and re-start in order to
change the voice used by the voice
synthesiser (male or female) or the
language used by the system.
For safety reasons, it is imperative
t h a t c o n i g u r a t i o n o f t h e m u l t i f u n c -
tion displays by the driver takes
place when stationary.

Glove box with light
This has an upper open storage com-
partment, a recess and locations for
storing a bottle of water, the vehicle's
handbook, ...
Its lid has locations for storing a pen,
a pair of spectacles, tokens, cards, a
can, ...
To open the glove box, raise the
handle.
It is lit when the lid is opened.
Raise the lid to gain access to the
ashtray and the lighter.
To empty the ashtray, after opening,
remove its receptacle.
To use the lighter, press it and wait
a few seconds until it pops out auto-
matically.
To connect a 12 V accessory (max
power: 120 Watts), remove the lighter
and connect the appropriate adaptor.

disarming switch

I f t h e v e h i c l e i s i t t e d w i t h a i r c o n d i -
tioning, it provides access to the ven-
tilation nozzle B , which can be opened
or closed, distributing the same condi-
tioned air as the vents in the passenger

AIR BAGS The air bags do not operate
when the ignition is switched off.
This equipment will only operate
once. If a second impact occurs (du-
ring the same or a subsequent acci-
dent), the air bag will not operate. Front air bags
System which protects the head and
chest of the driver and front passenger
in the event of a front impact.
The driver's air bag is incorporated in the
centre of the steering wheel; the front
passenger's air bag is incorpora ted in
the fascia above the glove box.
Activation
The air bags are triggered simulta-
neously, unless the passenger's front
air bag is disarmed, in the event of a
se rious front impact applied to all or part
of the front impact zone

gitudinal centreline of the vehicle on a
horizontal plane and directed from the
front to the rear of the vehicle.
T h e f r o n t a i r b a g i n l a t e s b e t w e e n t h e
front occupant of the vehicle and the
fascia to cushion his forward move-
ment.
Impact detection zones

Triggering of the air bag(s) is ac-
companied by a slight emission of
harmless smoke and a noise, due to
the activation of the pyrotechnic cart-
ridge incorporated in the system.
This smoke is not harmful, but sen-
sitive individuals may experience
slight irritation.
The noise of the detonation may
result in a slight loss of hearing for
a short time.
System designed to maximise the safety
of the occupants (with the exception of
the rear centre passenger) in the event
of violent collisions. It supplements the
action of the force-limiting seat belts.
If a collision occurs, the electronic de-
tectors record and analyse the front and
side impacts sustained in the impact
detection zones:
- in the case of a serious impact, the
air bags are triggered instantly and
protect the occupants of the vehicle
(with the exception of the rear centre
passenger); immediately after the
i m p a c t , t h e a i r b a g s d e l a t e r a p i d l y
so that they do not hinder visibility or
the exit of the occupants,
- in the case of a minor or rear impact or in certain roll-over conditions, the
air bags will not be triggered; the
s e a t b e l t a l o n e i s s u f i c i e n t t o p r o -
vide optimum protection in these
situations.

CHANGING A WHEEL
Procedure for changing a faulty wheel
for the spare wheel using the tools pro-
vided with the vehicle.
The tools are installed in the boot under
t h e l o o r .
To gain access to them:
open the boot,
r a i s e t h e l o o r ,
secure it by hooking the cord(s) on
the hook(s) on the rear shelf sup-
port,
remove the box containing the
tools.
1. Wheelbrace.
Permits removal of the wheel trim and removal of the wheel
i x i n g b o l t s .
2. Jack with integral handle.
Permits raising of the vehicle.
3. "Bolt cover" tool.
Permits removal of the bolt protectors (covers) on alloy
wheels.
4. Socket for the anti-theft bolts
(located in the glove box).
Permits adaptation of the wheelbrace to the special
"anti-theft" bolts.
