6. Benzin ist giftig.
Sollten Sie versehentlich Benzin ver-
schluckt, Benzindämpfe eingeatmet
oder Benzin in die Augen bekommen
haben, sofort einen Arzt aufsuchen.
Falls Benzin auf die Haut oder Klei-
dung gelangt, die betroffene Stelle
unverzüglich mit Seifenwasser abwa-
schen und ggf. die Kleidung wech-
seln.
7. Den Motor nur an gut belüftetem Ort
laufen lassen.
Den Motor keinesfalls in geschlosse-
nen Räumen anlassen und betreiben.
Abgase enthalten Kohlenmonoxid, ein
farb- und geruchloses Gas, das aber
äußerst giftig ist und in kurzer Zeit
bereits zu Bewusstlosigkeit und sogar
zum Tod führen kann.
8. Vorsicht beim Parken.
Zum Parken stets den Motor abstel-
len. Das Fahrzeug nicht auf abschüs-
sigem oder weichem Untergrund
abstellen, damit es nicht umfallen
kann.
9. Motor, Öltank, Schalldämpfer und
Abgaskanäle werden sehr heiß.
Bei Arbeiten am Motorrad darauf ach-
ten, die heißen Teile nicht versehent-
lich zu berühren.
10. Das Motorrad vor jedem Transport
fest verankern.
Die Maschine stets aufrecht im Trans-
portwagen aufstellen und den Kraft-
stoffhahn schließen (auf “OFF”
stellen). Anderenfalls kann Benzin
aus dem Vergaser oder dem Kraft-
stofftank austreten.6. L’ESSENCE PEUT CAUSER DES BLES-

Si vous avalez de l’essence, respirez des
vapeurs d’essence en excès ou laissez de
l’essence pénétrer dans vos yeux, prendre
immédiatement contact avec un médecin.
Si de l’essence est renversée sur votre peau
ou vos vêtements, laver immédiatement la
peau avec du savon et de l’eau et changer
de vêtements.
7. N’UTILISER LA MACHINE QUE DANS
UN ENDROIT AVEC AERATION ADE-
QUATE.
Ne jamais mettre le moteur en marche ni
le laisser tourner pendant un quelconque
laps de temps dans un endroit clos.
Les fumées d’échappement sont toxiques.
Ces fumées contiennent du monoxyde de
carbone incolore et inodore. Le monoxyde
de carbone est un gaz toxique dangereux
qui peut entraîner la perte de connais-
sance ou être mortel.
8. STATIONNER AVEC SOIN LA
MACHINE ET ARRETER LE MOTEUR.
Toujours arrêter le moteur si vous devez
abandonner la machine. Ne pas stationner
en pente ou sur un sol mou ou elle pourrait
se renverser.
9. LE MOTEUR, LE SYSTÈME D’ÉCHAP-
PEMENT ET LE RÉSERVOIR D’HUILE
SONT TRÈS CHAUDS LORSQUE LE
MOTEUR A TOURNÉ.
Bien veiller à ne pas toucher ces organes et
éviter tout contact avec les vêtements pen-
dant l’inspection ou la réparation du véhi-
cule.
10. FIXER SOLIDEMENT LA MACHINE
AVANT DE LA TRANSPORTER.
En cas de transport de la machine sur un
autre véhicule, toujours s’assurer qu’elle
est correctement fixée et posée sur ses
roues et que le robinet de carburant est
dans la position OFF (fermé). Sans quoi il
peut y avoir des fuites du carburateur et
du réservoir.

Diese Anleitung wurde zusammengestellt, um
dem Benutzer ein leicht verständliches Nach-
schlagewerk in die Hand zu geben, in dem alle
dargestellten Arbeitsvorgänge (Ein- und Aus-
bau, Zerlegung und Zusammenbau, Prüfung
und Reparatur) detailliert und in der entspre-
chenden Reihenfolge beschrieben sind.

LESEN DER BESCHREIBUNGEN
Um bei der Identifikation der Teile zu helfen
und die Arbeitsschritte zu verdeutlichen, sind
Explosionsdiagramme am Beginn jedes Aus-
bau- und Demontageabschnittes dargestellt.
1. Für die Ausbau- und Demontagearbeiten
ist meistens ein übersichtliches Explosi-
onsdiagramm 1 dargestellt.
2. Die Nummern 2 in dem Explosionsdia-
gramm sind in der Reihenfolge der Arbeiten
aufgeführt. Eine in einen Kreis eingeschrie-
bene Nummer bezeichnet einen Demonta-
geschritt.
3. Eine Erläuterung der Arbeiten und Hinweise
ist durch ablesefreundliche Symbolmarkie-
rungen 3 gegeben. Die Bedeutungen der
Symbolmarkierungen sind auf der nächsten
Seite aufgeführt.
4. Eine Arbeitsanweisungstabelle 4 beglei-
tet das Explosionsdiagramm und gibt die
Arbeitsreihenfolge, Bezeichnung der Teile,
Hinweise zu den Arbeiten usw. an.
5. Der Umfang des Ausbaus 5 ist in der
Arbeitsanweisungstabelle aufgeführt, um
nicht erforderliche Ausbauarbeiten zu ver-
meiden.
6. Für Arbeiten, für die weitere Informationen
benötigt werden, sind schrittweise Ergän-
zungen 6 zusätzlich zu dem Explosionsdia-
gramm und der Arbeitsanweisungstabelle
aufgeführt.

rations de démontage et de remontage.
2. Sur les vues en éclaté, les pièces sont numéro-
tées 2 dans l’ordre des opérations à effectuer.
Un chiffre entouré d’un cercle correspond à une
étape de démontage.
3. Les vues en éclaté portent également des sym-
boles 3 qui rappellent des points importants à
ne pas oublier. La signification de ces symboles
est expliquée à la page suivante.
4. Les vues en éclaté sont suivies d’un tableau 4
fournissant l’ordre des opérations, le nom des
pièces, des remarques, etc.
5. Pour éviter la dépose superflue de pièces,
l’étendue de la dépose 5 est indiquée dans le
tableau de description du travail.
6. Pour les travaux qui demandent des explica-
tions supplémentaires, la vue en éclaté et le

STARTING AND BREAK-IN
CAUTION:
Before starting the machine, perform the
checks in the pre-operation check list.
WARNING
Never start or run the engine in a closed
area. The exhaust fumes are poisonous;
they can cause loss of consciousness and
death in a very short time. Always operate
the machine in a well-ventilated area.
STARTING A COLD ENGINE
1. Shift the transmission into neutral.
2. Turn the fuel cock to “ON” and full open the
starter knob (CHOKE).
3. With the throttle completely closed start the
engine by kicking the kickstarter crank
forcefully with firm stroke.
4. Run the engine at idle or slightly higher
until it warms up: this usually takes about
one or two minutes.
5. The engine is warmed up when it responds
normally to the throttle with the starter knob
(CHOKE) turned off.
CAUTION:
Do not warm up the engine for extended
periods.
STARTING A WARM ENGINE
Do not operate the starter knob (CHOKE).
Open the throttle slightly and start the engine
by kicking the kickstarter crank forcefully with
firm stroke.
CAUTION:
Observe the following break-in procedures
during initial operation to ensure optimum
performance and avoid engine damage.

BREAK-IN PROCEDURES
1. Before starting the engine, fill the fuel tank
with a break-in oil-fuel mixture as follows.
2. Perform the pre-operation checks on the
machine.
3. Start and warm up the engine. Check the
idle speed, and check the operation of the
controls and the engine stop switch.
4. Operate the machine in the lower gears at
moderate throttle openings for five to eight
minutes. Stop and check the spark plug
condition; it will show a rich condition dur-
ing break-in.
5. Allow the engine to cool. Restart the
engine and operate the machine as in the
step above for five minutes. Then, very
briefly shift to the higher gears and check
full-throttle response. Stop and check the
spark plug.
6. After again allowing the engine to cool,
restart and run the machine for five more
minutes. Full throttle and the higher gears
may be used, but sustained full-throttle
operation should be avoided. Check the
spark plug condition.
7. Allow the engine to cool, remove the top
end, and inspect the piston and cylinder.
Remove any high spots on the piston with
#600 grit wet sandpaper. Clean all compo-
nents and carefully reassemble the top
end.
8. Drain the break-in oil-fuel mixture from the
fuel tank and refill with the specified mix.
9. Restart the engine and check the operation
of the machine throughout its entire operat-
ing range. Stop and check the spark plug
condition. Restart the machine and operate
it for about 10 to 15 more minutes. The
machine will now be ready to race.

STORAGE
If your machine is to be stored for 60 days or
more, some preventive measures must be
taken to avoid deterioration. After cleaning the
machine thoroughly, prepare it for storage as
follows:
1. Drain the fuel tank, fuel lines, and the car-
buretor float bowl.
2. Remove the spark plug, pour a tablespoon
of SAE 10W-30 motor oil in the spark plug
hole, and reinstall the plug. With the engine
stop switch pushed in, kick the engine over
several times to coat the cylinder walls with
oil.
3. Remove the drive chain, clean it thoroughly
with solvent, and lubricate it. Reinstall the
chain or store it in a plastic bag tied to the
frame.
4. Lubricate all control cables.
5. Block the frame up to raise the wheels off
the ground.
6. Tie a plastic bag over the exhaust pipe out-
let to prevent moisture from entering.
7. If the machine is to be stored in a humid or
salt-air environment, coat all exposed
metal surfaces with a film of light oil. Do not
apply oil to rubber parts or the seat cover.
NOTE:
Make any necessary repairs before the
machine is stored.
