Advice
Dear Customer,
If you have not received a device-spe-
cific security code for your car radio,
your vehicle is fitted with a comfort
coding system for which you do not
require a code. If the battery has been
disconnected and then reconnected,
you must first switch on the ignition
with the key in the ignition lock before
you switch on the radio. If neverthe-
less you wish to have a code, please
contact your Škoda service partner or
importer.
The appliance complies with the EMC
safety requirements (EEC guideline
89/336EEC and 93/68/EEC) in accor-
dance with Standards EN 55013 and
EN 55020. Quick operation . . . . . . . . . . . . . .2

Important advice
Warning!!!
Please ensure that when driving a
vehicle you always prioritize concen-
trating your attention on the traffic!!!
Today’s demanding traffic conditions
always require your full attention be con-
centrated on other road users.
The comprehensive equipment details of
modern car radios, in addition to the host
of entertainment possibilities, also provi-
de a wide variety of information on traffic
and weather conditions, etc.
Please ensure that you only operate
the car radio when the traffic conditi-
ons really permit it.
Please heed the following tips!!!
• Familiarize yourself with the extensive
functions of your car radio before star-
ting your journey by referring as neces-
sary to the operating instructions.
• Please make any more extensive
adjustments, for instance in the Setup
menu, which are required as a rule only
once or rarely, before starting your jour-
ney and with the vehicle stationary. • If any ambiguities regarding the car
radio’s functions and/or any unforesee-
able effects should arise while driving,
clarify them as necessary using the
operating instructions when the vehicle
is stationary.
• Select the volume in the vehicle so that
you can still be aware of acoustic
signals from the outside the vehicle at
all times
Comfort radio coding
Your car radio is fitted with a device-spe-
cific Security code. You only need to
enter the code when you first set up the
radio in the vehicle. After the initial entry
of the code number, the radio “acquaints
itself” with its vehicle. You therefore do
not need to enter the code number again
if the on-board voltage is interrupted. The
radio checks the vehicle data automati-
cally when switched on by switching on
the ignition. Only if the radio establishes
that it is in another vehicle will the code
number need to be entered again. If you have not received a device-spe-
cific security code for your car radio,
your vehicle is fitted with a comfort
coding system for which you do not
require a code. If the battery has been
disconnected and then reconnected,
you must first switch on the ignition
with the key in the ignition lock before
you switch on the radio. If neverthe-
less you wish to have a code, please
contact your Škoda service partner or
importer.
The code number should not be car-
ried in the vehicle but kept in a safe
place at home.
Because the radio will not operate unless
the corresponding code is entered, it is
useless to steal it and this provides pro-
tection against theft.

Radio mode
RDS functions
RDS (Radio Data System) shows the
names of the programmes being received
.
While you are driving, RDS automatically
takes over the function of searching for
alternative frequencies for the set pro-
gramme and making the necessary
adjustments to ensure the best possible
reception within a transmission area, even
under unfavourable conditions.
Storing RDS programmes
When storing RDS programmes, the
appropriate station button should only be
pressed when the programme name is
shown on the display. This ensures to a
large extent that all the RDS data are
evaluated and can be stored.
Also ensure, when storing, that no "scrol-
ling text" is being shown on the display,
otherwise this is stored instead of the
programme name.
When a stored RDS programme is called
up, the appropriate programme name
appears on the display. If the stored frequency cannot be recei-
ved clearly, the radio automatically
selects an alternative frequency for the
same program (Best Station function).
General advice
When the conditions are unfavourable
conditions, e.g. on mountainous stret-
ches, the radio checks the alternative fre-
quencies very often. This can result in
momentary interruptions to the sound.
How RDS works
With RDS, in addition to the normal radio
signal an inaudible digital data stream is
also transmitted. This data stream con-
tains, among other things, the following
data:
Programme identification (PI code):
The radio recognizes the programme
being received from the PI code.
Programme service name (PS code):
The PS code provides the name to be
shown on the display . Via the PS
code, some programmes also provide
additional information to be shown on the
display.Alternative frequencies (AF list):
A programme is usually broadcast by
several transmitters on different frequen-
cies. The AF list contains the relevant fre-
quencies to which the receiver can be set
in order to receive the programme.
T
raffic programme identification (Traffic
Programme = TP; message on the
display):
The identification for a programme with
traffic information.
T
raffic announcement identification (TA=
Traffic Announcement):
The radio recognizes a traffic message
from the TA code. If necessary, the radio’s
volume is now raised and CD mode is
interrupted.
EON (Enhanced information Concerning
Other networks)
Programmes that use EON, pick up traffic
messages from other programmes. During
the message, the name of the other pro-
gramme is displayed.
