Use temperature controls1 and7
(page 218) to separately adjust the air
temperature on each side of the passenger
compartment. You should raise or lower
the temperature setting in small incre-
ments, preferably starting at 72°F (22°C).
The climate control will adjust to the set
temperature as fast as possible.
Increasing

Turn temperature control1 and/or
7 (
page 218) slightly clockwise.
The climate control system will corre-
spondingly adjust the interior air tem-
perature.
Decreasing

Turn temperature control1 and/or
7 (
page 218) slightly counterclock-
wise.
The climate control system will corre-
spondingly adjust the interior air tem-
perature.

Climate control
Deactivating rear climate control
Press button´.
The indicator lamp on the button goes
out.
The cooling function switches off after
a short delay.Adjusting air distribution
Use the air distribution controls2 or4
to adjust the air distribution for the rear
passenger compartment.
The symbols on the controls represent the
following functions:
Adjusting manually

Press the desired air distribution
control2 or4.
The indicator lamp in the Ubutton
goes out.Adjusting automatically

Press buttonU.
The indicator lamp in the button comes
on. The air distribution is adjusted au-
tomatically.
Adjusting air volume
The air volume for the rear zone corre-
sponds to the air volume settings for the
front passenger side. You can switch off
the air supply for the rear zone.
You can switch off the supplied amount of
air volume.

Press button´.
iThe temperature is adjusted according
to the settings for the front passenger
side made on the front climate control
panel (
page 222).
iSwitch off the rear automatic climate
control for improved cooling or heating
output in the front passenger compart-
ment.
You can also switch off the rear auto-
matic climate control from the front
passenger compartment (
page 220).

3-zone automatic climate control*
Adjusting air distribution

ments of the U.S. Department of Transpor-
tation.
Manufacturer’s identification mark
The manufacturer’s identification mark2
(
page 381) denotes the tire
manufacturer.
New tires have a mark with two symbols.
Retreaded tires have a mark with four sym-
bols. For more information on retreaded
tires, see (
page 353).
Tire size
The code3 (page 381) indicates the
tire size.Tire type code
The code4 (
page 381) may, at the
option of the manufacturer, be used as a
descriptive code for identifying significant
characteristics of the tire.
Date of manufacture
The date of manufacture5 (
page 381)
identifies the week and year of manufac-
ture.
The first two figures identify the week,
starting with “01” to represent the first full
week of the calendar year. The second two
figures represent the year.
For example, “3202” represents the 32nd
week of 2002.
