Control system
Standard display menu
Press buttonk orj to select
the functions in the standard display
menu.
The following functions are available:
Display digital speedometer
Press buttonj twice.
The current vehicle speed is shown in
the multifunction display.
AUDIO menu
The functions in the
AUDIO menu operate
the audio equipment which you currently
have turned on.
If no audio equipment is currently turned
on, the message
AUDIO OFF is shown in the
display.
The following functions are available:

The headings used in the menus table
are designed to facilitate navigation
within the system and are not neces-
sarily identical to those shown in the
control system displays.
The first function displayed in each
menu will automatically show you
which part of the system you are in.

Control system
Operate the CD player
Turn on COMAND and select CD. Refer
to separate COMAND operating in-
structions.
Press buttonè orÿ repeatedly
until the settings for the CD currently
being played are shown in the display.

until the desired track is selected.
NAVI menu
The
NAVI menu contains the functions
needed to operate your navigation system.
Press buttonè orÿ repeatedly
until you see the message
NAVI in the
display.
If the navigation system is off, the mes-
sage
NAVI OFF is shown in the display.
If the navigation system is on, the mes-
sage
NAVI READY is shown in the dis-
play.
Please refer to the COMAND manual for in-
structions on how to activate the route
guidance system*.

Additional optional satellite radio
equipment and a subscription to satel-
lite radio service provider are required
for satellite radio operation. Contact an
authorized Mercedes-Benz Light Truck
Center for details and availability for
your vehicle.

Satellite radio service may be unavail-
able or interrupted from time to time
for a variety of reasons, such as envi-
ronmental or topographic conditions
and other things beyond the service
provider’s or our control. Service might
also not be available in certain places
(e.g. in tunnels, parking garages, or
within or next to buildings) or near
other technologies.

To select a CD from the magazine,
press a number on the COMAND sys-
tem key pad located in the center dash-
board.

Useful features
Shortly after the completion of your ac-
quaintance call, you will receive a user ID
and password.
By visiting www.mbusa.com and selecting
“Tele Aid” (USA only), you will have access
to account information, remote door un-
lock, profile and more.System self-check
Initially, after switching on ignition, mal-
functions are detected and indicated (the
indicator lamps in the SOS button, the
Roadside Assistance button• and the
Information button¡ stay on longer
than 10 seconds or do not come on). The
message
TELE AID – DRIVE TO WORKSHOP!
appears for approx. ten seconds in the
multifunction display.

The SOS button is located above the in-
terior rear view mirror.
The Roadside Assistance button•
and the Information button¡ are
located below the center armrest
cover.

The Tele Aid system utilizes the cellular
network for communication and the
GPS (Global Positioning System) satel-
lites for vehicle location. If either of
these signals are unavailable, the
Tele Aid system may not function and if
this occurs, assistance must be sum-
moned by other means.
Warning!G
If the indicator lamps in the SOS button, in
the Roadside Assistance button and/or in
the Information button do not come on dur-
ing the system self-check or if any of these
indicators remain illuminated constantly in
red and/or the message
TELE AID -
DRIVE TO WORKSHOP
is displayed in the
multifunction display after the system
self-check, a malfunction in the system has
been detected.
If a malfunction is indicated as outlined
above, the system may not operate as ex-
pected. Have the system checked at the
nearest Mercedes-Benz Light Truck Center
as soon as possible.

Gear range
Number of gears which are available to
the automatic transmission for shifting.
The automatic gear shifting process
can be adapted to specific operating
conditions using the gear selector le-
ver.
GPS
(G
lobal Positioning System)
Satellite-based system for relaying
geographic location information to and
from vehicles equipped with special re-
ceivers. Employs CD digital maps for
navigation.

Instrument cluster
The displays and indicator/warning
lamps in the driver’s field of vision, in-
cluding the tachometer, speedometer,
engine temperature and fuel gauge.
Kickdown
Depressing the accelerator past the
point of resistance shifts the transmis-
sion down to the lowest possible gear.
This very quickly accelerates the vehi-
cle and should not be used for normal
acceleration needs.

Line of fall
The direct line that an object moves
downhill when influenced by the force
of gravity alone. Locking knob
Button on the door which indicates
whether the door is locked or un-
locked. Pushing the locking knob down
on an individual door from inside will
lock that door.
Maintenance System (U.S. vehicles)
Maintenance service indicator in the
speedometer display that informs the
driver when the next vehicle mainte-
nance service is due. The Maintenance
System tracks distance driven and the
time elapsed since your last mainte-
nance service, and calls for the next
maintenance service accordingly.
