ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM (ESP)
C310A01JM-AAT (If installed) The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) system is designed to stabilize thevehicle during cornering manuevers. ESP checks where you are steering and where the vehicle is actually go-ing. ESP applies the brakes at indi- vidual wheels and intervenes in the engine management system to stabi-lize the vehicle. The Electronic Stability Program (ESP) system is an electronic system de- signed to help the driver maintain ve- hicle control under adverse conditions.It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. C310B01JM-AAT ESP ON/OFF Mode When the ESP is operating, the ESP indicator in the instrument cluster willblink. If you turn the system off by pressing the ESP switch, the ESP-OFF indica-tor will come on and stay on. In the ESP-OFF mode, the stability control will be deactivated. Adjust your drivingaccordingly. To turn the system back on, press the switch again. The ESP- OFF indicator should go off. NOTE: The ESP mode will automatically be turned ON after the engine isturned off and restarted.

D040A01FC-GAT TEMPORARY SPARE TIRE The following instructions for the tem- porary spare tire should be observed:
1. Check inflation pressure as soon as possible after installing the spare tire, and adjust to the specified pres- sure. The tire pressure should be periodically checked and maintainedat the specified pressure while the tire is stored.

be used on any other wheels, norshould standard tires, snow tires, wheel covers or trim rings be used with the temporary spare wheel. Ifsuch use is attempted, damage to these items or other car compo- nents may occur.
6. The temporary spare tire pressure should be checked once a monthwhile the tire is stored.

I050A01E-GAT TIRE CHAINS Tire chains, if necessary should be installed on the front wheels. Be sure that the chains are installed in accor- dance with the manufacturer's instruc-tions.To minimize tire and chain wear, donot continue to use tire chains when they are no longer needed.
WARNING:
o When driving on roads covered with snow or ice, drive at less than 30 km/h (20 mph).
o Use the SAE "S" class or wire &
plastic chains.
o If you have noise caused by chains contacting the body, re-tighten the chain to avoid con- tact with the vehicle body.
o To prevent body damage, re- tighten the chains after driving0.5 ~ 1 km.
I040A01S-GAT SNOW TIRES If you equip your car with snow tires, they should be the same size and have the same load capacity as the original tires. Snow tires should beinstalled on all four wheels; other- wise, poor handling may result. Snow tires should carry 28 kPa (4 psi) more air pressure than the pres- sure recommended for the standardtires on the tire label on, or up to the maximum pressure shown on the tire sidewall whichever is less. Do not drive faster than 120 km/h (75 mph) when your car is equipped with snow tires.
CAUTION:
Always observe the following:
o Check pressures when the tires are cold. That is, after the car has been parked for at least three hours and hasn't been drivenmore than 1.6 km or one mile since starting up.
o Check the pressure of your spare tire each time you check the pressure of other tires.
o Never overload your car. Be es- pecially careful about overload-ing if you equip your car with a luggage rack or car top carrier.

o Driving on worn-out tires is dan- gerous! Worn-out tires can cause loss of braking effectiveness,steering control and traction. When replacing tires, never mix radial and bias-ply tires on thesame car. If you replace radial tires with bias-ply tires, they must be installed in sets of four.
o Your vehicle is equipped with tires designed to provide for saferide and handling capability.Do not use a size and type of tireand wheel that is different from the one that is originally installed on your vehicle. The original tires on your car have tread wear indicators. The tread wear indicators appear when the tread depth is 1.6 mm (0.06 in.). The tireshould be replaced when these ap- pear as a solid bar across two or more grooves of the tread. Alwaysreplace your tires with those of the recommended size. SD050A2-E (Not all models) The spare wheel is stored under the luggage compartment floor and is ac-cessed from within the luggage com- partment by lifting the carpet and the floor panel.To remove the spare wheel, unscrew the retainer, rotating this in an anti clockwise direction and lift out the wheel.To replace the wheel, screw the retainer by hand until tight having located the wheel in the luggage compartment floorwell. SI030A2-E SNOW TYRES If it is desired to fit snow tyres to the vehicle, it must be ascertained thatthe original size and load carrying ca- pacity are met by the replacement tyres. When using snow tyres, thevehicle should not be driven at speeds in excess of 60 MPH.
In modern high-speed motoring, cor- rect tyre pressures are vitally impor- tant. Incorrect tyre pressures can af- fect vehicle safety by causing reducedadhesion, steering response and tyre failure through overheating. The tyre pressure must only be checked whenthe tyres are cold.
