B330B01P-GAT Removal of the headrest To remove the headrest, pull it out while pressing the lock knob in thedirection of the arrow. When installing the headrest, first check to be sure that it is facing in the correctdirection, and then insert it into the seatback and press downward until it locks in place.Check to be sure that the lock knob is in the correct position, as shown in the figure, and then try to pull the headrestup to be sure it doesn't come out.
WARNING:
It is dangerous to drive without installing the head restraints.neck injuries when properly ad- justed.
o Do not adjust the headrest height while the vehicle is in motion.
B081D01P-GAT Tilting Forward and Rearward (If installed) The headrest may be tilted forward to each different position by pulling theheadrest forward. If the height of the adjusting seat belt is too near your neck, you will not begetting the most effective protection. The shoulder portion should be ad- justed so that it lies across your chestand midway over your shoulder near- est the door and not your neck. B170A01A

To adjust the height of seat belt anchor, lower or raise the height adjuster into anappropriate position. To raise the height adjuster, pull it up. To lower it, push it down while pressing the height adjusterbutton. Release the button to lock the anchor into position. Try sliding the releasebutton to make sure that it has locked into the position.
B180A02A-GAT Driver's and Passenger's 3-Point System with Webbing ClampLocking Retractor (If installed) To Fasten Your Belt To fasten your seat belt, pull it out of the retractor and insert the metal tab into the buckle. There will be an audible"click" when the tab locks into the buckle. The seat belt automatically adjusts tothe proper length only after the lap belt is adjusted manually so that it fits snugly around your hips. If you leanforward in a slow, easy motion, the belt will extend and let you move around.B180A01L
WARNING:
o The height adjuster must be in the locked position whenever the vehicle is moving.
o The misadjustment of height of the shoulder belt could reducethe effectiveness of the seat beltin a crash.

o A child restraint system must be placed in the rear seat. Never install a child or infant seat onthe front passenger's seat. Should an accident occur and cause the passenger side airbagto deploy, it could severely in- jure or kill an infant or child seated in an infant or child seat. Thus,only use a child restraint in the rear seat of your vehicle.
o Since a safety belt or child re- straint system can become veryhot if it is left in a closed vehicle, be sure to check the seat coverand buckles before placing a child there.
o When the child restraint system is not in use, fasten it with asafety belt so that it will not be thrown forward in the case of asudden stop or an accident.
o Children who are too large to be ina child restraint should sit in the rear seat and be restrained withthe available lap/shoulder belts.
o Always make sure that the shoul-
der belt portion of the outboardlap/shoulder belt is positioned midway over the shoulder, never across the neck. Moving the childcloser to the center of the vehicle may help provide a good shoul- der belt fit. The lap belt portion ofthe lap/shoulder belt or the cen- ter seat lap belt must always be positioned as low as possible onthe child's hips and as snug as possible.
o If the seat belt will not properly fit the child, we recommend the useof an approved booster seat in the rear seat in order to raise thechild's seating height so that the seat belt will properly fit the child.
o Never allow a child to stand up or kneel on the seat.o Never use an infant carrier or child safety seat that "hooks" over a seatback; it may not provide ad-equate security in an accident.
o Never allow a child to be held in a
person's arms while they are in amoving vehicle, as this could re- sult in serious injury to the child in the event of an accident or asudden stop. Holding a child in a moving vehicle does not provide the child with any means of pro-tection during an accident, even if the person holding the child is wearing a seat belt.
o If the child restaint seat is not anchored properly, the risk of achild being seriously injured orkilled in a collision greatly in- creases.

3. Altimeter (If installed) Before driving the vehicle, set the pointer to 0 on the dial by turning the adjusting knob. The meter will indicate the heightat the destination.

B870C01A-GAT Manual Antenna
Your car uses a manual stainless steel antenna to receive both AM and FM broadcast signals. Pull up the antennausing your fingers, as shown in the drawing. NOTE: Before entering an automatic car wash or a place with a low height clearance, be sure that the antenna is fully retracted. B870B01Y-AAT Power Antenna (If installed) The antenna will automatically be ex- tended when the radio power switch is turned on while the ignition key is ineither the "ON" or "ACC" position. The antenna will automatically be retracted and stored when either the radio powerswitch is turned off or the ignition key is set to the "LOCK" position.
CAUTION:
o Be sure to remove the antenna before washing the car in an au-tomatic car wash or the antenna may be damaged.
o When reinstalling your antenna, it is important that it is fully tight-ened to ensure proper reception.

D140A02P-GAT ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) (If installed) The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is designed to prevent wheel lock-upduring sudden braking or on hazard- ous road surfaces. A computer moni- tors the wheel speed and controls thepressure applied to each brake. Thus, in emergency situations or on slick roads, your ABS will increase vehiclecontrol during braking. NOTE: During ABS operation, a slight pul- sation may be felt in the brake pedalwhen the brakes are applied. Also, a noise may be heard in the engine compartment while driving. Theseconditions are normal and indicate that the anti-lock brake system is functioning properly. WARNING:
ABS will not prevent accidents dueto improper or dangerous driving maneuvers. Even though vehicle control is improved during emer-gency braking, always maintain a safe distance between you and ob- jects ahead. Vehicle speeds shouldalways be reduced during extreme road conditions. The braking distance for carsequipped with an anti-lock braking system may be longer than for those without it in the following road con-ditions. During these conditions, the ve- hicle should be driven at reducedspeeds:
o On rough, gravel or snow-cov- ered roads.
o With tire chains installed.
o On roads where the road surface
is pitted or has different surface height.
D130A01P-GAT LOADING Loading should not be to the point at which the Maximum Gross VehicleWeight is exceeded. Loading should be as uniform as pos- sible.Driving stability will be reduced if the load is unequal between front/rear or left/right.Avoid sudden starts, sudden braking, and sharp cornering.
