G020D01TG-EAT MAINTENANCE PRECAUTIONS Improper or incomplete service may result in problems. This section givesinstructions only for the maintenance items that are easy to perform. Several procedures should be done byan authorised Hyundai dealer. NOTE: Improper owner maintenance dur- ing the warranty period may affectwarranty coverage. WARNING:
o Performing maintenance work on a vehicle can be dangerous. You can be seriously injured while performing some maintenanceprocedures. If you lack sufficient knowledge and experience or the proper tools and equipment to dothe work, have it done by an authorised Hyundai dealer.
o Working under the hood with the engine running is dangerous. Itbecomes even more dangerous when you wear jewelry or looseclothing. These can become en- tangled in moving parts and result in injury. Therefore, if you mustrun the engine while working un- der the hood, make certain that you remove all jewelry (especiallyrings, bracelets, watches, and necklaces) and all neckties, scarves, and similar loose cloth-ing before getting near the engine or cooling fans.
SG020B1-E DAILY OPERATING CHECKS The following items should be checked on a daily basis or whenever the vehicleis refuelled, whichever occurs sooner.
o Engine oil level.
o Engine coolant level.
o Power steering fluid level.
o Brake fluid level.
o Windscreen washer fluid level.
o Battery condition.
o Tyre condition and pressures.
o Operation and cleanliness of all light-
ing equipment.
o Windscreen wiper and washer opera- tion.
o Horn operation.
o Warning light operation.
o Adjustment and cleanliness of mir- rors.
o Seat and seat belt adjustment and operation.
o Fluid leakage. The vehicle must not be driven if the daily operating checks indicate that any item of equipment related to thesafety or roadworthiness of the vehicle is not functioning correctly.

NOTE: SAE 5W-20 (5W-30), ILSAC GF-3 en- gine oil is preferred regardless of regional option and engine varia-tion. If SAE 5W-20, ILSAC GF-3 en- gine oil is not available, secondary recommended engine oil for corre-sponding temperature range can be used.
G030B01TB-EAT Recommended Oil
1. Petrol engine The engine oil quality should meet the following classification. API SJ, SL or ABOVE, ILSAC GF-3 or ABOVE The oil viscosity should be selected according to the operating environment of the engine by means of the table shown above. The engine oil recom-mendations are complete in themselves and the use of additives is neither required nor recommended. The use ofengine oil additives may result in invali- dation of the vehicle warranty.
G030A01FC-EAT ENGINE OIL The correct engine oil level is of para- mount importance. An excessively highor low oil level may result in irreparable damage being sustained by the engine. The engine oil level must be checkedon a daily basis, whenever the vehicle is refuelled or before starting a long trip, whichever occurs sooner. In addition, it is imperative that only an approved grade and specification of oil is used to avoid the possibility of seri-ous engine damage and premature wear. The use of "budget price" oil is a false economy that must be avoided if themaximum reliability and useful life is to be obtained from the vehicle.

The engine oil quality should meet the following classification: API class: CH4 or ABOVE ACEA class: B4 or ABOVE NOTE: SAE 0W-30 oil is for extra cold zone and to be restricted by driving condi- tion and dealing area. (Especially, not recommended for sustained highloaded and high speed operation.) SG030C1-E Engine Oil Level Gasoline engine
Diesel engine
The engine oil level should be checked with the engine at normal operating tem- perature and the vehicle parked uponlevel ground. Prior to checking the level, the vehicle should be allowed to stand for severalminutes after the engine has been switched off to allow the oil to drain back to the sump.Withdraw the dipstick and wipe it with a clean rag. Replace the dipstick fully and withdraw again when the oil level may beread from the stick. Normal oil level is indicated when the oil is present between the two marks on the stick. It is notnecessary to add oil if the level is above the lower mark and in any case, oil must not be added to the degree that the levelexceeds the upper mark. Replace the dipstick fully after checking the level.

G030D02TB-EAT ENGINE OIL REPLENISHMENT
If the indicated oil level is at or below the lower mark of the dipstick, oil should be added until the level is at or below the upper mark.To add oil to the engine, remove the filler cap by rotating in an counterclock- wise direction and pour engine oil intothe engine. Before checking the level again, allow several minutes for the oil to drain into the sump. Replace the oilfiller cap rotating it in a clockwise direc- tion until tight. The quantity of oil required to raise thelevel from the minimum to maximum level is approximately 1.2 litre.

CAUTION:
The oil being drained from the en- gine will be hot. Care should beexercised to prevent scalding. WARNING:
Prolonged and repeated contact withused engine oils may result in seri- ous skin disorders including derma- titis and cancer. Avoid contact withskin as far as possible and always wash thoroughly after any contact. Keep used oils out of reach of chil-dren. It is illegal to pollute drains, water courses and soil. Use only authorised waste collection facili-ties including civic amenity sites and garages for the disposal of used oil and oil filters. SG100A3-E MANUAL TRANSAXLE LUBRICANT
CAUTION:
Engine coolant anti freeze must not be used in the windscreen washersystem since damage to the paintwork may result. Undiluted windscreen washer addi-tive must not be allowed to come into contact with the paintwork. If spillage occurs, flush the affectedarea immediately with water. Do not operate the windscreen washer for more than 15 seconds continuouslyor when the reservoir is empty since damage to the washer pump will result.

The manual transaxle lubricant must be checked and or changed at the inter- vals specified in the maintenance sched- ule. Only those lubricants specifiedshould be used in order to prevent gear shifting difficulties or transaxle dam- age. WARNING:
The transaxle lubricant level should only be checked when the engine is cold to preclude the possibility ofpersonal injury by contact with hot components. NOTE: It is recommended that the manual transaxle lubricant should be checked by Hyundai authorised re- pairer. Recommended Oil Use only the approved transaxle lubri- cant. The recommended lubricants arecomplete in themselves and the use of additives is neither required nor recom- mended. The use of additives mayinvalidate the vehicle warranty.
The level of windscreen washer fluid available should be checked on a daily basis. The level of fluid will be visiblethrough the side of the reservoir. When the fluid is to be replenished, only a proprietary screen wash additive shouldbe used and in the concentration rec- ommended by the manufacturer. The windscreen washer reservoir has a totalcapacity of 3 litres.
