o Automotive fuels are flammable/
explosive materials. When refuel- ing, please note the followingguidelines carefully.
o Before touching the fuel nozzle or
fuel filler cap, have one's hands incontact with metal parts away from the filler neck to discharge static electricity.
o Do not get back in the vehicle while refueling. Do not operateanything that can produce staticelectricity. Static electricity dis- charge can ignite fuel vapors re- sulting in explosion.
o When using a portable fuel con- tainer be sure to place the con-tainer on the ground while refuel-ing. Static electricity discharge from the container can ignite fuel vapors causing a fire. While start-ing refueling contact should be maintained until the filling is com- plete.

2FUEL RECOMMENDATIONS
B010A02A-EAT Petrol Engines THIS VEHICLE MUST ONLY BE OP- ERATED WITH UNLEADED FUEL.SERIOUS DAMAGE WILL RESULT FROM THE USE OF LEADED FUEL. However, care must be exercised when filling the vehicle tank from jerry cans orby means of a funnel that the fuel being used is unleaded. The use of leaded fuel in this vehicle willresult in irreversible pollution of the catalyst element. Such pollution will prevent correct operation of the cata-lyst and give rise to increased operating temperatures leading to the catalyst element melting and restricting the ex-haust flow along with an increase in exhaust emission levels.
Unleaded fuel with a Research Octane Number (RON) of 91 or higher must beused in this vehicle. To prevent accidental filling of the fuel tank with leaded fuel, a small diameterfiller neck along with a restrictor flap are fitted to ensure that only unleaded fuel pump nozzles may enter the filler neck.
!
CAUTION:
The vehicle warranty will not extend to damage arising from the use of incorrect fuels.
! Diesel Engines Diesel fuel of 52 to 54 cetane is the correct rating to use in your HyundaiAccent. If two types of diesel fuel are available, use summer or winter fuel properly according to the following tem-perature conditions.
o Above 23°F (-5°C) ... Summer type
diesel fuel.
o Below 23°F (-5°C) ... Winter type
diesel fuel.
Watch the fuel level in the tank very carefully : If the engine stops due to fuel failure, the circuits must be completelypurged to permit restarting.
CAUTION:
Do not let any petrol or water enterthe tank. If this happens, the tankshould be completely drained and the fuel lines should all be cleaned out. This will stop the fuel pumpfrom becoming contaminated.

IMMOBILISER SYSTEM
6SB035A1-FE The immobiliser system is an anti-theft device, designed to prevent and deter vehicle theft. B880B03A-GAT Keys All of the locks fitted to the vehicle are operated by the same key. However, since it is possible to lock the doors without the use of the key, care should be exercised to ensure that the keydoes not become locked inside the vehicle by mistake. NOTE: If you make your own duplicate key, you will not be able to cancel the system or start the engine. B880C02A-GAT Key Numbers

1) Do not race the engine without a load
(i.e revving the engine in neutral).
2) During the first 600 miles the maxi- mum engine speed should be re- stricted to 3,000 rpm and graduallyincreased thereafter. And while driv- ing, keep under three quarters of maximum vehicle speed.
3) Avoid prolonged constant speed op- eration. The internal components ofthe engine will become run-in morequickly if the operation speed is var- ied during the running-in period.
4) Never allow the engine to labour. Use the gearbox freely and avoid largethrottle openings when the engine speed is below 1,500 rpm.
5) Avoid rapid acceleration and maxi- mum throttle openings.
6) Avoid harsh braking during the first 100 miles of urban motoring or 1,000 miles of motorway driving to allow the friction facings of the brake padsand shoes to bed against the discs and drums properly.
7) No trailer towing should be under- taken during the running-in period. CAUTION:
o The password should be recorded and kept in a safe place in case the need to order further keys arises.
o If you forget the password, con-
sult your authorized Hyundaidealer. o When starting the engine, do not
use the key with other immobi- lizer keys around. Otherwise the engine may not start or may stopsoon after it starts. Keep each keys separately not to have any malfunction after youreceive your new vehicle.
The vehicle key number is recorded upon a metal tag attached to the keyswhen the vehicle is first delivered to you.

42WARNING AND INDICATOR LIGHTS
!
B260B01S-GAT
SRS (Airbag) Service Reminder Indicator (SRI)
The SRS service reminder indicator (SRI) comes on and flashes for about 6seconds after the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position or after the engine is started, after which it will go out. This light also comes on when the SRS is not working properly. If the SRI doesnot come on, or continuously remains on after flashing for about 6 seconds when you turned the ignition key to the"ON" position or started the engine, or if it comes on whilst driving, have the SRS inspected by an authorized HyundaiDealer. B260P02Y-EAT
ABS Service
Reminder Indicator (SRI)(Not all models)
When the key is turned to the "ON" position, the Anti-Lock Brake System SRI will come on and then go off in a fewseconds. If the ABS SRI remains on, comes on while driving, or does not come on when the key is turned to the"ON" position, this indicates that there may be a problem with the ABS. If this occurs, have your vehiclechecked by your Hyundai dealer as soon as possible. The normal braking system will still be operational, butwithout the assistance of the anti-lock brake system. SB210E1-E
Overdrive OFF Indicator Light(Automatic Transaxle only)
When the overdrive (4th gear) switch is turned off and the operation of overdrive (4th gear) is cancelled, the overdrivewarning light (O/D OFF) will be illumi- nated. When the switch is at the on position, the gearbox will operate in thenormal fully automatic mode and the warning light will be extinguished. SB210G1-E Turn Signal Indicator Light
Operation of a turn signal is indicated by the warning light located in the in- strument cluster. If the light fails toilluminate or does not flash, a malfunc- tion within the turn signal system is indicated.
WARNING:
If the both ABS SRI and Parking Brake/ Brake fluid level warning lights re- main "ON" or come on while driving, there may be a problem with E.B.D(Electronic brake force distribution). If this occurs, avoid sudden stops and have your vehicle checked byyour Hyundai dealer as soon as pos- sible.
