If the SRS SRI (Service Reminder Indicator) does not come on, or continuously remains on,have your vehicle immediately in- spected by your Hyundai dealer. Any work on the SRS system, such as removing, installing, repairing, or any work on the steering wheel must beperformed by a qualified Hyundai tech- nician. Improper handling of the SRS system may result in serious personalinjury.
o Do not install any accessories or
children’s toys in the Curtain Airbag deployment zones, as this may impair the operation of thesystem or throw parts of them into the vehicle cabin causing injury to occupants if the system is de-ployed.

NOTE: If the engine dies while driving after limp home procedure, you can start your engine within 8 seconds with-out limp home procedure again.
5. If the immobilizer indicator blinks for five seconds, you have to try the limp home procedure again from the beginning.
After doing the limp home procedure,you have to consult with your autho-rized Hyundai dealer as soon as pos- sible.
! CAUTION:
o If you fail to try the limp home procedure with the sequence of three times, you have to wait for about one hour to do the limp home procedure again.
o If you cannot start your engine in spite of limp home procedure, haveyour vehicle towed by an autho-rized Hyundai dealer.

Locking and Unlocking Front Doors With a Key
WARNING:
o Unlocked doors can be danger- ous. Before you drive away (espe- cially if there are children in the car), be sure that all the doors are securely closed and locked sothat the doors cannot be inadvert- ently opened from the inside. This helps ensure that the doors willnot be opened accidentally. Also, when combined with the proper use of seat belts, locking the doors helps keep occupants from being ejected from the car incase of an accident.
o Before opening the door, always
look for and avoid oncoming traf-fic.
o In case of accident, the door is
unlocked automatically (If In-stalled). o The door can be locked or unlocked
with a key.
o Lock the door by turning the key
toward the front of the vehicle and unlock it by turning the key toward the rear.

B040D01FC-GAT Locking From the Inside To lock the doors from the inside, sim- ply close the door and push the lock switch to the "LOCK" position. Whenthis is done, neither the outside nor the inside door handle can be used.B040E03A-AAT Child-protector Rear Door Lock (If Installed) Your Hyundai is equipped with a "child- protector" rear door lock assembly.When the lock mechanism is engaged, the rear door cannot be opened from the inside. Its use is recommended when-ever there are small children in the rear seat.
NOTE: When the door is locked, the red mark on the switch is not visible and the character "LOCK" on the switchis visible.

B040C04A-AAT Locking From the Outside The doors can be locked without a key. To lock the doors, first push the inside lock switch to the "LOCK" position sothat the red mark on the switch is not visible, then close the door. NOTE:
o If your vehicle is equipped with
central door locking system, the door will not lock if the key is leftin the ignition switch when the front doors close.
o When locking the door this way, be careful not to lock the door withthe ignition key left in the vehicle.
HLC2008 o To protect against theft, always
remove the ignition key, close all windows, and lock all doors and the trunk lid(4 Door)/tail gate(3/5 Door) when leaving your vehicleunattended.

When a seat belt is used, it should be placed as low and snugly as possible on the hips, notacross the abdomen. For specific rec- ommendations, consult a physician. The lap portion should be fastened snug on the hipsand as low as possible. Check belt fit periodically. A child's squirming could put the belt out of position. Children areafforded the most safety in the event of an accident when they are restrained by a proper restraint system in the rearseat. If a larger child (over age 13) must be seated in the front seat, the child should be securely restrained by theavailable lap/shoulder belt and the seat should be placed in the rearmost posi- tion. Children under the age of 13 shouldbe restrained securely in the rear seat. NEVER place a child under the age of 13 in the front seat. According to acci-dent statistics, children are safer when properly restrained in the rear seats than in the front seat. Larger childrennot in a child restraint should use one of the seat belts provided. You are required by law to use safetyrestraints for children. If small children ride in your vehicle you must put them in a child restraint system (safety seat).Children could be injured or killed in a crash if their restraints are not properly secured. For small children and babies,a child seat or infant seat must be used. Before buying a particular child restraint system, make sure it fits your car andseat belts, and fits your child. Follow all the instructions provided by the manu- facturer when installing the child re-straint system. WARNING:
o A child restraint system must be placed in the rear seat. Never in- stall a child or infant seat on the front passenger's seat.Should an accident occur and cause the passenger side airbag to deploy, it could severely injureor kill an infant or child seated in an infant or child seat. Thus, only use a child restraint in the rearseat of your vehicle.
o Since a safety belt or child re- straint system can become very hot if it is left in a closed vehicle, be sure to check the seat coverand buckles before placing a child there.
o When the child restraint system is not in use, store it in the trunk or fasten it with a safety belt so that itwill not be thrown forward in the case of a sudden stop or an acci- dent.

When fastening the rear seat shoulder belts or therear seat center belt, make sure they are inserted into the correct buckles to obtain maximum protection fromthe seat belt system and assure proper operation.

o Children who are too large to be in
a child restraint should sit in the rear seat and be restrained with the available lap/shoulder belts.Never allow children to ride in the front passenger seat.
o Always make sure that the shoul- der belt portion of the outboard lap/shoulder belt is positionedmidway over the shoulder, never across the neck or behind the back. Moving the child closer to thecenter of the vehicle may help provide a good shoulder belt fit. The lap belt portion of the lap/shoulder belt or the centre seat lap belt must always be positioned as low as possible on the child's hipsand as snug as possible.
o If the seat belt will not properly fit the child, Hyundai recommends the use of an approved booster seat in the rear seat in order toraise the child's seating height so that the seat belt will properly fit the child.B230F01A-AAT Installation on Rear Seat Center Position Use the center seat belt for the rear to secure the child restraint system as illust rated. After installation of the child
restraint system, rock the child seat back and forth, and side to side to ensure that it is properly secured by the seat belt.If the child seat moves, readjust the length of the seat belt. Then, if equipped, insert the child restraint tether straphook into the child restraint hook holder and tighten to secure the seat. o Never allow a child to stand up or
kneel on the seat.
o Never use an infant carrier or child safety seat that "hooks" over a seatback; it may not provide ad- equate security in an accident.
o Never allow a child to be held in a person's arms while they are in amoving vehicle, as this could re- sult in serious injury to the child in the event of an accident or asudden stop. Holding a child in a moving vehicle does not provide the child with any means of pro-tection during an accident, even if the person holding the child is wearing a seat belt.
o If the child restaint seat is not anchored properly, the risk of achild being seriously injured or killed in a collision greatly in- creases.

This child seat or infant seat should be of appropriate size for the child andshould be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. It is further required that the seat be placedin the vehicle's rear seat since this can make an important contribution to safety. To install a child restraint system in the outboard rear seats, extend the shoul- der/lap belt from its retractor. Install thechild restraint system, buckle the seat belt and allow the seat belt to take up any slack. Make sure that the lap por-tion of the belt is tight around the child restraint system and the shoulder por- tion of the belt is positioned so that itcannot interfere with the child's head or neck. After installation of the child re- straint system, try to move it in alldirections to be sure the child restraint system is securely installed.
