The courtesy light between the map
lights comes on when you turn the
parking lights on. To adjust its
brightness, turn the Select/Reset
knob on the instrument panel.
The individual map lights come on
whenanydoororthetailgateis
opened, or when the remote
transmitter is used to unlock the
doors.
The individual map lights in the
second and third rows can be
turned on and of f by pressing the
lens.
The tailgate light comes on when
you open the tailgate if the light
switch is in the ON position.
The lights go out about 6 seconds
after all the doors and the tailgate
are closed. With any door or the
tailgate lef t open, the lights stay
on about 3 minutes, then go out. Turn on the f ront and second row
individual map lights by pushing the
lens. Push the lens again to turn it
off. You can also operate these lights
with the light control switch (see
page ).
The light in the tailgate has an on-of f
switch to control if the light comes
on when the tailgate is opened.
The courtesy lights in the f ront
doors and around the ignition switch
come on when you open any door.
Af ter you close the door, the ignition
switch light stays on f or several
seconds.

Turn the dial clockwise to increase
the fan speed and airflow. Turn the
dial counterclockwise to decrease it.When the indicator in the button is
on, air f rom the vehicle’s interior is
sent throughout the system again.
When the indicator is off, air is
brought in f rom the outside of the
vehicle (fresh air mode).
The outside air intakes f or the
heating and cooling system are at
the base of the windshield. Keep this
area clear of leaves and other debris.
Thesystemshouldbeleftinfresh
air mode under almost all conditions.
Keeping the system in recirculation
mode, particularly with the A/C of f ,
can cause the windows to fog up.
Switch to recirculation mode when
driving through dusty or smoky
conditions, then return to fresh air
mode.
Select the f an speed by pressing the
fan control buttons ( or ).
The f an speed is shown in vertical
bars in the display.
Turning this dial clockwise increases
the temperature of the airflow.
The temperature setting is shown in
the display. On EX and EX-L models, see page

system cannot regulate the inside
temperature if you set the dial below
the outside air temperature.

This button turns the rear window

Use the mode control dial or button
to select the vents the air flows from.
Some air will flow from the
dashboard corner vents in all modes.
Each time you press the MODE
button, the display shows the mode

The heater uses engine coolant to
warm the air. If the engine is cold, it
will be several minutes bef ore you
f eel warm air coming f rom the
system.
The f low-through ventilation system
draws in outside air, circulates it
through the interior, then exhausts it
through vents near the rear side
panels.
Set the temperature to the lower
limit.
Make sure the A/C is of f .
Select and fresh air mode.
Set the f an to the desired speed. Select and fresh air mode.

Adjust the warmth of the air with
the temperature control dial.Air conditioning places an extra load
on the engine. Watch the engine

temperature is above 32°F (0°C). Air conditioning, as it cools, removes
moisture from the air. When used in
combination with the heater, it
makes the interior warm and dry and
can prevent the windows f rom
f ogging up.

cool it down more rapidly by partially
opening the windows, turning on the
A/C, and setting the fan to
maximum speed in f resh air mode.
The vehicle has two A/C
units, one is in the f ront, and the
other is in the rear. The LX units are
independently controlled. The EX
and EX-L units are controlled by the
f ront panel controls, unless the RR
A/C MANUAL button is selected.
To cool the interior with MAX A/C: Set the f an to the desired speed.
Select MAX A/C mode.
