Never use the window wiper to remove ice or snow from the windscreen. In these conditions, the
wiper is submitted to excessive effort that results in motor protection cutting in and wiper
operation inhibition for few seconds as a consequence. If operation is not restored contact Fiat
Dealership.
WINDOW CLEANING
WINDSCREEN WIPER/WASHER
This device can only work when the ignition key is at MAR.
A - Windscreen wiper off.
B - Flick wipe.
C - Slow continuous wipe.
D - Fast continuous wipe.
E - Temporary fast continuous wipe (unstable position): when the stalk is
released, it returns to position (A) automatically stopping the wiper.
When the stalk is pulled towards the steering wheel, the windscreen and
headlight washer jets starts operating (where fitted) providing the dipped
beam headlights are switched on.

ANCHORING THE LOAD
There are special rings in the boot to anchor cords to firmly hold in place
the load being transported.
IMPORTANT When travelling at night with a load in the boot, the height
of the dipped beams should be adjusted (see “Headlights” in this section).
To ensure the regulator works properly, make sure that the load does
not exceed the values given.
WARNINGHeavy loads not securely anchored could seriously injure passengers in the event of
an accident.

WARNINGIf you are travelling in areas where refuelling can be difficult and you want to carry
a can of petrol, attain to the law in force. Use a homologated can only and secure
it to the load anchoring hooks. Even given these precautions, the risk of fire in the
event of an accident is increased.

HEADLIGHTS
ADJUSTING THE HEADLIGHT BEAM
IMPORTANT Proper adjustment of the headlight beams is of vital
importance for your safety and comfort and also for the other road
users. This is also covered by a specific law. To ensure you and other
drivers have the best visibility conditions when travelling with the
headlights on, the headlights must be set properly.
Contact Fiat Dealership to have the headlights properly adjusted.
ADJUSTING THE HEADLIGHT SLANT
When the car is loaded, it slopes backwards. This means that the
headlight beam rises. In this case, it is necessary to return it to the
correct position.
An electric adjuster (A) is fitted on the instrument panel.
Correct positions as a function of the load
Position 0 - up to three people on the front seats.
Position 1 - up to six people.
Position 2 - six people + max 130 kg load in the boot.
Position 3 - driver + load stowed in the boot up to a maximum of 300 kg.
Only for 4 or 5 seat VAN versions, the max. permissible load is
350 kg.
IMPORTANT To ensure the regulator works properly, make sure the
load in the boot does not exceed the maximum values given in paragraph
“Weights” in section “Technical Specifications”.

HEADLIGHT BEAM ADJUSTMENT ABROAD
The dipped beam headlights are adjusted for circulation in the country in
which the car is marketed. In countries with opposite circulation, to
avoid glaring oncoming vehicles, it is necessary to cover the areas of the
headlight using a special sticker tape provided for the purpose.
The figures shown the passage from left-hand driving to right-hand
driving.

CONTAINING RUNNING COSTS
Here are some suggestions which may help you to
keep the running costs of your car down and lower
the amount of toxic emissions released into the
atmosphere.
GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS
Car maintenance
Have checks and adjustments carried out in
accordance with the “Service schedule”.
Tyres
Check the pressure of the tyres routinely at an
interval of no more than 4 weeks: if the pressure is
too low, consumption levels increase as resistance to
rolling is higher.
Unnecessary loads
Do not travel with too much luggage stowed in the
boot. The weight of the car (especially when driving in
town) and its trim greatly affects consumption and
stability.Roof rack/ski rack
Remove the roof rack or the ski rack from the roof as
soon as they are no longer used. These accessories
lower air penetration and adversely affect
consumption levels. When needing to carry
particularly voluminous objects, preferably use a
trailer.
Electric devices
Use electric devices only for the amount of time
needed. Rear heated window, additional headlights,
windscreen wipers and heater fan need a considerable
amount of energy, therefore increasing the
requirement of current increases fuel consumption (up
to +25% in the urban cycle).
Climate control
The air conditioner is an additional load which greatly
affects the engine leading to higher consumption (on
average up to +20%). When the temperature outside
the vehicle permits it, use the air vents where possible.
Aerodynamic accessories
The use of non-certified aerodynamic items may
adversely affect air drag and consumption levels.
