Programmable Automatic
Door Locks
Your vehicle has an automatic lock/unlock feature
which enables you to program the vehicle’s power door
locks. You can program this feature through the
Driver Information Center (DIC). SeeDIC Vehicle
Customization on page 3-63for more information on
DIC programming.
Rear Door Security Locks
With this feature, you can lock the rear doors so they
can’t be opened from the inside by passengers.
This feature is located
on the inside edge of
the rear doors.To use the locks, do the following:
1. Open one of the rear doors.
2. Move the lever forward to engage the rear door
security lock.
3. Close the door.
4. Do the same thing to the other rear door.
The rear doors cannot be opened from the inside when
this feature is in use. If you want to open the rear
door while the security lock is engaged, unlock the door
and open the door from the outside. Move the lever
rearward to disengage the child security lock feature.
Lockout Protection
This feature protects you from locking your key in the
vehicle when the key is in the ignition and a door
is open.
If the power lock switch is pressed when a door is open
and the key is in the ignition, all of the doors will lock
and then the driver’s door will unlock.

Liftgate/Liftglass
{CAUTION:
It can be dangerous to drive with the liftgate or
liftglass open because carbon monoxide (CO)
gas can come into your vehicle. You cannot see
or smell CO. It can cause unconsciousness and
even death. If you must drive with the liftgate
open or if electrical wiring or other cable
connections must pass through the seal
between the body and the liftgate or liftglass:
Make sure all other windows are shut.
Turn the fan on your climate control system
to its highest speed and select the control
setting that will force outside air into your
vehicle. See “Climate Control System” in
the Index.
If you have air outlets on or under the
instrument panel, open them all the way.
SeeEngine Exhaust on page 2-26.To unlock the liftgate and liftgate glass from the outside
use either the power door locks or the remote keyless
entry system.
The liftgate glass can be opened using the pushbutton
on the liftgate after the doors have been unlocked.
To open the entire liftgate, lift the handle located in the
center of the door.
To lock the liftgate and liftgate glass from the outside
use the remote keyless entry system or the power
door locks.

Power Windows
The controls for the power windows are located on the
armrest on each of the side doors. The switches
operate the windows when the ignition is in RUN,
ACCESSORY or while Retained Accessory Power
(RAP) is active. SeeRetained Accessory Power (RAP)
on page 2-17.
The driver’s door also has a switch for each of the
passenger’s windows.
Press the top of the switch to lower the window.
Pull up the top of the switch to raise the window.
Express-Down Windows
The driver and front passenger windows also have an
express-down feature that allows the windows to
be lowered without holding the switch. Press down fully
on the window switch, then release, to activate the
express-down mode. This mode can be canceled at any
time by pulling up on the switch. To open the window
partway, press the switch to the rst position until
the window is at the desired position.
Window Lockout
o
(Window Lockout):Press the lockout switch to
prevent passengers from operating the power windows
from their switches. A light in the lockout switch will
come on to show that the switch has been activated.
Press the lockout switch again to return to normal
operation.

Sun Visors
Sun Visors with Slide Rod
Your vehicle may have this feature. Pull the sun visor
down to block glare. Detach the sun visor from the
center mount and slide it along the rod from side-to-side
to cover the driver or passenger side of the front
window. Swing the sun visor to the side to cover the
side window. It can be moved along the rod from
side-to-side in this position also.
Sun Visors with Fixed Rod and Pull-out
Extension
Your vehicle may have this feature. Pull the sun visor
down to block glare. Pull the sun visor extender out
for additional coverage. Detach the sun visor from the
center mount and swing it to the side to cover the
side window.
Lighted Visor Vanity Mirror
Your vehicle has lighted visor vanity mirrors on both the
driver’s and passenger’s sun visors. Pull the sun
visor down and lift the mirror cover to turn the lamps on.
Theft-Deterrent Systems
Vehicle theft is big business, especially in some cities.
Although your vehicle has a number of theft-deterrent
features, we know that nothing we put on it can make it
impossible to steal.
Content Theft-Deterrent
Your vehicle has a content theft-deterrent alarm system.
With this system, the
security light in the
instrument panel cluster will
ash as you open the door
if your ignition is off.
This light reminds you to activate the theft-deterrent
system. Here is how to do it:
1. Open the door.
2. Lock the door with the remote keyless entry (RKE)
transmitter. The security light should come on and
stay on.
3. Close all doors. The security light should go off
after about 30 seconds. The alarm is not armed
until the security light goes off.
