To apply the parking brake, pull the
lever up f ully. To release it, pull up
slightly, push the button, and lower
the lever. The parking brake
indicator on the instrument panel
should go out when the parking
brake is f ully released (see page ).
The clock displays the time with the
ignition switch in the ON (II)
position. If your vehicle’s battery is
disconnected or goes dead, you will
need to reset the clock.
For example: 1:06 will reset to 1:00
1:52 will reset to 2:00
The clock is set automatically. Change the hour by pressing and
holding the H button until the
numbers advance to the desired time.
Change the minutes by pressing and
holding the M button until the
numbers advance to the desired time.
You can quickly set the time to the
nearest hour. If the displayed time is
bef ore the half hour, press the R
button to set the clock back to the
previous hour. If the displayed time
is af ter the half hour, the clock sets
f orward to the beginning of the next
hour.

µ The SEEK f unction
searches up and down from the
current f requency to f ind a station
with a strong signal. To activate it,
press the or SEEK button, then
release it.
The SCAN function
samples all stations with strong
signals on the selected band. To
activate it, press the SCAN button, or
touch the SCAN icon (models with
navigation system), then release it.
You will see SCAN in the display.
The system will scan f or a station
with a strong signal. When it f inds
one, it will stop and play that station
f or about 5 seconds.
If you do nothing, the system will
scan f or the next strong station and
play it f or 5 seconds. When it plays a
station you want to listen to, press
the SCAN button again.
The band and f requency that the
radio was last tuned to is displayed.
To change bands, press the AM/FM
button (AM or FM button on
Canadian model). On the FM band,
ST will be displayed if the station is
broadcasting in stereo. Stereo
reproduction on AM is not available.
You can use any of f ive methods to
f ind radio stations on the selected
band:

preset buttons, and .
Use the TUNE knob to
tune the radio to a desired f requency.
Turn the knob right to tune to a
higher f requency, or lef t to tune to a
lower f requency.
The ignition switch must be in the
ACCESSORY (I) or ON (II) position.
Turn the system on by pushing the
VOL/PWR knob or the AM/FM
button (AM or FM button on
Canadian model). Adjust the volume
by turning the same knob. The audio system f or your vehicle
can also be operated using the voice
control system. See Navigation
section in your Quick Start Guide f or
an overview of this system and the
Navigation System manual f or
complete details.

Your vehicle is capable of receiving
XM
Satellite Radio anywhere in the
United States, except Hawaii and
Alaska.
XM
is a registered trade mark of
XM Satellite Radio, Inc. To switch between the
channel mode and the category
mode,pressandholdtheDISP/
MODE button until the mode
changes. On models with navigation
system, touch the MODE icon on the
audio display.
In the channel mode, you can select
all of the available channels. In the
category mode, such as Jazz, Rock,
Classical, etc., you can select all of
the channels within that category.
Each time you press and release the
DISP/MODE button, the display
changes in the f ollowing sequence:
channel name, channel number,
category, artist name, and music title.
You may experience periods when
XM Radio does not transmit the
artist’s name and song title
inf ormation. If this happens, there is
nothing wrong with your system. On models with navigation system,
push the AUDIO button to display
XM inf ormation on the screen.
Turn the TUNE knob lef t
or right to select channels. In the
category mode, you can only select
channels within that category.
In the
category mode, press either button
to select another category.
XM radio receives signals f rom two
satellites to produce clear, high-
quality digital reception. It of f ers
many channels in several categories.
Along with a large selection of
dif f erent types of music, XM radio
allows you to view channel and
category selections in the display.
To listen to XM radio, turn the
ignition switch to the ACCESSORY
(I) or ON (II) position. Push the
PWR/VOL knob to turn on the audio
system, and press the
button. Adjust the volume
by turning the PWR/VOL knob. The
last channel you listened to will show
in the display.

Depending on where you drive, you
may experience reception problems.
Interf erence can be caused by any of
these conditions:Driving on the north side of a
large commercial truck on an
east/west road.
Driving in tunnels.
Driving on a road beside a vertical
wall, steep clif f , or hill to the south
of you.
Driving on the lower level of a
multi-tiered road.
Driving on a single lane road
alongside dense trees taller than
50 ft. (15 m) to the south of you. If your XM Radio service has expired
or you purchased your vehicle f rom
a previous owner, you can listen to a
sampling of the broadcasts available
on XM Satellite Radio. With the
ignition switch in the ACCESSORY
(I) or ON (II) position, push the
PWR/VOL knob to turn on the audio
system and press the button.
A variety of music types and styles
will play.
If you decide to purchase XM
satellite radio service, contact XM
Radio at
, or at
1-800-852-9696. You will need to give
them your radio I.D. number and
your credit card number. To get your
radio I.D. number, turn the TUNE knob until ‘‘0’’ appears in the display.
Your I.D. will appear in the display.
After you’ve registered with XM
Radio, keep your audio system in the
Satellite Radio mode while you wait
f or activation. This should take about
30 minutes.
Driving on the north side of an
east/west mountain road.
While waiting f or activation, make
sure your vehicle remains in an open
area with good reception. Once your
audio system is activated, you should
be able to listen to XM radio
broadcasts. XM Radio will continue
to send an activation signal to your
vehicle for at least 12 hours from the
activation request. If the service has
not been activated after 36 hours,
contact XM Radio.
There may be other geographic
situations that could af f ect XM radio

The disc changer can play these disc

verification standards may not be
playable.
The changer cannot play DVD-V,
DVD-R/RW, MP3, or WMA f ormats.
Some CD-DA and CD-ROM mixed
discs are not playable.

operation:
Your vehicle’s audio system has an
in-dash disc changer that holds up to
six discs. You operate this disc
changer with the same controls used
f or the radio. To operate the disc
changer, the ignition switch must be
in the ACCESSORY (I) or ON (II)
position.
With the ignition switch in the
ACCESSORY (I) or ON (II)
position, press and hold the LOAD
button until you hear a beep and
see ‘‘LOAD’’ in the display, then
release the button.
Insert a disc into the slot. Insert it
only about half way; the drive will
pull it in the rest of the way.
When the ‘‘DISC LOAD’’ appears
in the display, insert the next disc
into the slot.
Repeat this until all six positions
are loaded. The system will thenbegin playing the last disc loaded.
If you stop loading discs bef ore all
six positions are f illed, the system
will wait f or 15 seconds, stop the load
operation, and begin playing the last
disc loaded.
If you press the LOAD button while
a disc is playing, the system will stop
playing that disc and start the
loading sequence. It will then play
the disc just loaded. The disc number f or an empty
position is highlighted and the
green load indicator comes on.
When you see ‘‘LOAD’’ in the
display, insert the disc into the slot.
Insert it only about halfway; the
drive will pull it in the rest of the
way. Press and release the LOAD
button.

Do not use discs with adhesive labels.
The label can curl up and cause the
disc to jam in the unit.

To take the system out of disc mode,
press the AM/FM button (AM or
FMbuttononCanadianmodels),
press the button (U.S.
models), or insert a tape in the tape
player. To return to disc mode, press
the DISC/TAPE button (CD/DVD
buttononCanadianmodels).
When you press the RPT button or
touch the TRACK RPT icon on the
audio display (models with
navigation system), the system
continuously replays the current
track. As a reminder, you will see
REPEAT (TRACK REPEAT) in the
display. To turn this feature off,
press the RPT button, or touch
TRACK REPEAT again.
If you turn the system off while a
disc is playing, either with the PWR/
VOL knob or by turning of f the
ignition switch, the disc will stay in
the drive. When you turn the system
back on, the disc will begin playing
where it lef t of f .
WhenyoupressandholdtheRPT
button until D-RPT is in the display,
or when you touch the DISC RPT
icon on the audio display (models
with navigation system), the system
continuously replays the current disc.
To turn this feature off, press the
RPT button or touch DISC RPT
again. You can also play DVD-As in your
audio system the same way as
playing discs. When you press the RDM button or
touch the TRACK RDM icon
(models with navigation system), the
system plays the tracks of the
current disc in random order. You
will see RDM (TRACK RANDOM)
in the display. To turn this f eature
off, press the RDM button (touch
the TRACK RDM icon) again.

To remove a different disc from the
changer,firstselectitbypressing
the corresponding number on the
preset button (touching the
appropriate disc icon on models with
navigation system). When that disc
begins playing, press the eject button.
When you press the eject button
while listening to the radio, or with
the audio system turned of f , the disc
that was last selected is ejected.
Af ter that disc is ejected, pressing
the eject button again will eject the
next disc in numerical order. By
doing this six times, you can remove
all the discs f rom the changer.
You can also eject discs when the
ignition switch is of f :
To eject one disc, press and release
the eject button.
To eject all discs, press and hold the
eject button until the system beeps.
To remove the disc that is currently
playing, press the eject button. You
will see ‘‘EJECT’’ in the display.
When you remove the disc f rom the
slot, the system automatically begins
the load sequence so you can load
another disc in that position. If you
do not load another disc within 15
seconds, the system selects the
previous mode [AM, FM1, FM2,
tape,orXMRadio(U.S.models)].
If you do not remove the disc f rom
the slot, the system will reload the
disc af ter 15 seconds and put the
disc changer in pause mode. To
begin playing the disc, press the disc

The ignition switch must be in the

position. Make sure the open side of
thetapeisfacingright,theninsert
thetapemostof thewayintotheslot.
Thesystemwillpullthetapeinthe
rest of the way and begin to play it.
Thetapedirectionindicatorinthe
display comes on to show you which
side of the tape is playing. The
indicates the side you inserted
upward is now playing. If you want to
play the other side, press the PLAY/
PROG (preset 2) button or touch the
PLAY/PROGiconontheaudio
display (models with navigation
system). When the player reaches
the end of the tape, it will
automatically reverse direction and
play the other side.
Dolby noise reduction turns on
when you insert a tape. Theindicator and NR icon (models with navigation system) will come on
in the display. If the tape was not
recorded in Dolby, turn it of f by
pressing the (preset 4) button
or touching the NR icon on the audio
display. Dolby remains of f until you
press the button (touch the icon)
again.
To remove the tape, press the
EJECT button. If you want to turn
the player of f , press the VOL/PWR
knob or turn of f the ignition. The
tape will remain in the drive. When
youturnthesystembackon,the
tape will begin playing where it lef t
off.
To switch to the radio, Satellite Radio (U.S. models) or disc changer
while a tape is playing, press the
AM/FM button (AM or FM button
on Canadian models), button
or DISC/TAPE button (CD/DVD
buttononCanadianmodels).To
change back to the tape player, press
the DISC/TAPE button (TAPE/
AUXbuttononCanadianmodels).
To rewind the tape,
push the (preset 1 ) button or
touch the REW icon on the audio
display (models with navigation
system). You will see REW in the
display (TAPE REW on models with
navigation system). To fast forward
the tape, push the (preset 3)
button or touch the FF icon. You will
seeFFdisplayed(TAPEFFon
models with navigation system).
Press the , , or PLAY/
PROG button (icon) to take the
system out of rewind or f ast f orward.
