If the warning light illuminates while driving:
1. Drive to the nearest safe location and carefully stop
your vehicle.
2. With the engine OFF, check the generator drive belt
for looseness or breakage.
3. If the belt is adjusted properly, a problem exists
somewhere in the electrical charging system. Have
an Authorized Kia Dealer locate and correct the
problem as soon as possible.Engine Oil Pressure Warning This warning light indicates the engine oil pressure is
low.
If the warning light comes ON while driving:
1. Drive safely to the side of the road and stop.
2. With the engine OFF, check the engine oil level. If
the level is low, add oil as required.
If the warning light remains ON after adding oil or if
oil is not available, call an Authorized Kia Dealer.Low Fuel Level Warning This warning light indicates the fuel tank is near
empty. The warning light will come on when the fuel
level has dropped to about 9 liters (2.4 US gal.).
Refuel as soon as possible.
✽
NOTICE
Do not drive the vehicle with a loose or broken
generator belt; the engine could be damaged by
overheating because this belt also drives the water
pump.
✽
NOTICE
If the engine is not stopped as soon as possible,
severe engine damage could result.
Do not drive the vehicle when the Engine Oil
Pressure Warning Light is ON.

Keeping a vehicle in good operating condition is
important both for economy and safety. Therefore,
have an Authorized Kia Dealer perform scheduled
inspections and maintenance.
Special Driving ConditionsHazardous DrivingWhen hazardous driving is encountered because of
water, snow, ice, mud, sand, or similar hazard, follow
these suggestions:
Drive cautiously and allow extra distance for
braking.
Avoid sudden movements in braking or steering.
When braking in vehicles without anti-lock brakes,
depress the brake pedal with a controlled up-and-
down motion until the vehicle is stopped.
5-7
WARNING - Engine OFF Motion
Never turn the engine OFF to coast down hills
or anytime the vehicle is in motion. The power
steering and power brakes will not function
without the engine running. Instead, downshift
to any appropriate gear for engine braking
effect.
✽
NOTICE
Do not pump the brake pedal on ABS equipped
vehicle.

2. Make sure the air conditioner is off.
3. If coolant or steam is boiling out of the radiator,
stop the engine, then turn the ignition switch to the
ON position. Do not restart the engine. The radiator
cooling fan will automatically operate with the
ignition switch in the ON position. If the cooling
fan does not operate, call an Authorized Kia Dealer
for assistance.
If coolant is not boiling out, allow the engine to
idle and open the hood to permit the engine to cool
gradually.
If the temperature does not go down with the
engine idling, stop the engine and allow sufficient
time for it to cool.4. The coolant level should then be checked. If the
level in the reservoir is low, look for leaks at the
radiator hoses and connections, heater hoses and
connections, radiator, and water pump. If you find a
major leak or another problem that may have
caused the engine to overheat, do not operate the
engine until the problem has been corrected. Call
an Authorized Kia Dealer for assistance.
If you do not find a leak or other problem, carefully
add coolant to the reservoir.
If the engine frequently overheats, have the cooling
system checked and repaired.
6-3
WARNING - Removing
Radiator Cap
Do not remove the radiator cap when the
engine and radiator are hot. Scalding hot
coolant and steam may blow out under
pressure. This could cause serious injury.
