B260N02A-AAT Malfunction Indicator Light (If Installed)
This light illuminates when there is a malfunction of an exhaust gas relatedcomponent, and the system is not functioning properly so that the ex- haust gas regulation values are notsatisfied. This light will also illuminate when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position, and then it will go out ina few seconds after the engine is started. If it illuminates while driving, or does not illuminate when the ignitionkey is turned to the "ON" position, take your car to your nearest authorized Hyundai dealer and have the systemchecked.
B260E01HP-GAT Seat Belt Warning Light
The seat belt warning light blinks for about 6 seconds when the ignition key is turned from the "OFF" position to"ON" or "START".
B260Q01E-GAT CRUISE Indicator (If Installed)
The cruise indicator light in the instru- ment cluster is illuminated when thecruise control main switch on the end of the barrel is pushed. The indicator light does not illuminatewhen the cruise control main switch is pushed a second time. Information about the use of cruisecontrol is beginning on page 1-72.B265C01LZ-AAT Electronic Stability Program Indicator Lights(If installed)
The electronic stability program indi- cators change operation according to the ignition switch position and whetherthe system is in operation or not. They will illuminate when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position, butshould go out after three seconds. If the ESP or ESP-OFF indicator stays on, take your car to your authorizedHyundai dealer and have the system checked. See section 2 for more infor- mation about the ESP.
B260R01E-GAT CRUISE SET Indicator
Light (If installed)
The set indicator light in the instrument cluster is illuminated when the cruisecontrol switch is pushed downward to "SET (COAST)". The set indicator light does not illumi-nate when the control switch is in the "CANCEL" position. B260U01TB-GAT
Immobilizer Warning Light (If Installed)
This indicator light comes on for some seconds after the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position. At this time, youcan start the engine. The light goes out after the engine is running. In case this light goes out before you start theengine, you must turn to the "LOCK" position and restart the engine. In case

B400B02GK-GAT The trip computer is a microcomputer- controlled driver information gauge that displays information related to driving,such as estimated distance to empty, average speed and drive time on the LCD. Reset Switch
o The reset switch is used to zero the
multi-functional display mode.
o Pushing in the reset switch on the left side of tacometer changes the display as follows; 1. Distance to Empty
o This mode provides the estimated
distance to empty from the current fuel level in the fuel tank.
o The trip computer may not register additional fuel if less than 6 liters offuel are added to the vehicle.
o When the battery has been rein- stalled after being discharged ordisconnected, drive more than 32kmfor an accurate distance to empty.

52MULTI-FUNCITION LIGHT SWITCH
B340A01A-AAT COMBINATION TURN SIGNAL, HEADLIGHT AND HIGH-BEAMSWITCHTurn Signal Operation Pulling down on the lever causes the turn signals on the left side of the car to blink. Pushing upwards on the levercauses the turn signals on the right side of the car to blink. As the turn is completed, the lever will automaticallyreturn to the center position and turn off the turn signals at the same time. If either turn signal indicator light blinksmore rapidly than usual, goes on but does not blink, or does not go on at all, there is a malfunction in the system.Check for a burned-out fuse or bulb or see your Hyundai dealer. B340B01A-AAT Lane Change Signal To indicate a lane change, move the lever up or down to a point where it begins flashing.The lever will automatically return to the center position when released.
B340C03E-AAT Headlight Switch To operate the headlights, turn the barrel on the end of the multi-function switch. The first position turns on theparking lights, sidelights, tail lights and instrument panel lights. The second position turns on the headlights. NOTE: The ignition must be in the "ON" position to turn on the headlights.

58CIGARETTE LIGHTERINSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHT CONTROL (RHEOSTAT)
B410A01A-AAT (If Installed) The instrument panel lights can be made brighter or dimmer by turning the instrument panel light control knob. B420A02A-AAT For the cigarette lighter to work, the key must be in the "ACC" position orthe "ON" position. To use the cigarette lighter, push it all the way into its socket. When theelement has heated, the lighter will pop out to the "ready" position. Do not hold the cigarette lighter pressedin. This can damage the heating ele- ment and create a fire hazard. If it is necessary to replace the ciga-rette lighter, use only a genuine Hyundai replacement or its approved equiva- lent.

B400A01A-AAT There are three control buttons for the digital clock. Their functions are:
HOUR - Push "H" to advance the hour indicated.
MIN - Push "M" to advance the minute indicated.
RESET- Push "R" to reset minutes to
":00" to facilitate resetting the clock to the correct time. When this is done:
Pressing "R" between 10 : 30 and 11 :29 changes the readout to 11 : 00. Pressing "R" between 11 : 30 and 12 :29 changes the readout to 12 : 00. Type A

B260F02GK-AAT The CD auto changer is located in the right side of the quarter trim.
o To use the CD auto changer.
1. Open the sliding lid of the CD autochanger.
2. To eject the compact disc maga- zine, press the EJECT button lo- cated inside the CD auto changer.
3. Insert the discs into the magazine.
4. Push the magazine into the CD auto changer and close the sliding lid.
o The CD auto changer can be used when the ignition switch is in either the "ON" or "ACC" position.
1. CD Select Button When the CD changer magazine con- tains discs, press the "CD" button and the CD changer can be used even if the radio is being used. The Hyundai CDchanger can hold up to eight discs. The disc number will be lit, and the track number, and elapsed time will be dis-played. 2. DISC Select Button To select the CD you want, push " " to change the disc number. 3. TRACK UP/DOWN
o The desired track on the disc cur-
rently being played can be selected using the track number.
o Press once to skip forward to the beginning of the next track. Press
once to skip back to the begin-
ning of the track.
4. FF/REW ( / ) If you want to fast forward or reverse through the compact disc track, push and hold in the FF ( ) or REW ( ) button.When you release the button, the com- pact disc player will resume playing. 5. REPEAT
o To repeat the track you are listening
to, press the RPT button. To cancel , press again.
o If you do not release RPT operation
when the track ends, it will automati-cally be replayed. This process will be continued until you push the button again.
6. SCAN Button
o Press the SCAN button to playback the first 10 seconds of each track.
o Press the SCAN button again within 10 sec. for the desired track.
NOTE:
o When replacing the fuse, replace it with a fuse having the correct capacity.
o This equipment is designed to be used only in a 12 volt DC batterysystem with negative ground.
o This unit is made of precision parts. Do not attempt to disas-semble or adjust any parts.
o When driving your vehicle, be sure
to keep the volume of the unit setlow enough to allow you to hear sounds coming from the outside.

C010A01O-AAT WARNING: ENGINE EXHAUST CAN BE DANGEROUS!
Engine exhaust fumes can be extremely dangerous. If, at any time, you smell exhaust fumes inside the vehicle, open the windows immediately. o Do not inhale exhaust fumes. Exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless gas that can cause unconsciousness and death by asphyxiation. o Be sure the exhaust system does not leak. The exhaust system should be checked whenever the vehicle is raised to change the oil or for any other purpose.If you hear a change in the sound of the exhaust or if you drive over something that strikes the underneath side of the car, have the exhaust system checked as soon as possible by your Hyundai dealer. o Do not run the engine in an enclosed area. Letting the engine idle in your garage, even with the garage door open, is a hazardous practice. Never run theengine in your garage any longer than it takes to start the engine and back the car out. o Avoid idling the engine for prolonged periods with people inside the car. If it is necessary to idle the engine for a prolonged period with people inside the car, be sure to do so only in an open area with the air intake set at "Fresh" and the fan operating at one of the higher speeds so fresh air is drawn into the interior. If you must drive with the tail gate open because you are carrying objects that make this necessary: 1. Close all windows. 2. Open side vents. 3. Set the air intake control at "Fresh", the air flow control at "Floor" or "Face" and the fan at one of the higher speeds.
To assure proper operation of the ventilation system, be sure the ventilation air intakes located just in front ofthe windshield are kept clear of snow, ice, leaves or other obstructions.

12ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS)

o Slow down before shifting to a lower
gear. Otherwise, the lower gear may not be engaged.
o Always use the parking brake. Do
not depend on placing the transaxlein "P" to keep the car from moving.
o Exercise extreme caution when driv-
ing on a slippery surface. Be espe-cially careful when braking, acceler- ating or shifting gears. On a slippery surface, an abrupt change in vehiclespeed can cause the drive wheels to lose traction and the vehicle to go out of control. o Loss of control often occurs if two
or more wheels drop off the road- way and the driver oversteers to reenter the roadway.
o In the event your vehicle leaves the roadway, do not steer sharply.Instead, slow down before pull-ing back into the travel lanes.
o Never exceed posted speed lim-
its.
o Excessive depressing of the accelerater pedal under the tireslip condition such as movingout of the mud or fresh snow etc, may cause severe damage to the transaxle. At this time, take otherway such as towing.
WARNING:
o Avoid high cornering speeds.
o Do not make quick steering wheel movements, such as sharp lanechanges or fast, sharp turns.
o Always wear your seat belts. In a collision crash, un unbeltedperson is significantly more likelyto die than a person wearing a seatbelt.
o The risk of rollover is greatly in-
creased if you lose control of yourvehicle at highway speeds. C120A03A-AAT (If Installed) The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is designed to prevent wheel lock-upduring sudden braking or on hazard- ous road surfaces. The ABS control module monitors the wheel speed andcontrols the pressure applied to each brake. Thus, in emergency situations or on slick roads, ABS will increasevehicle control during braking. NOTE:
o A click sound may be heard in the
engine compartment when the ve- hicle begins to move after the en- gine is started. These conditionsare normal and indicate that the anti-lock brake system (Electronic Stability Program) is functioningproperly.
o During ABS operation, a slight
pulsation may be felt in the brakepedal when the brakes are ap- plied. Also, a noise may be heard in the engine compartment whilebraking. These conditions are normal and indicate that the anti- lock brake system is functioningproperly.
