Hood Release
1. To open the hood, rst
pull the handle with this
symbol on it. It is
located inside the
vehicle under
the instrument panel
on the driver’s side.
2. Then go to the front of the vehicle and release the
secondary hood release.
3. Lift the hood, release the prop rod from its retainer
and put the prop rod into the slot in the hood.
Before closing the hood, be sure all the ller caps are
on properly. Then lift the hood to relieve pressure on
the prop rod. Remove the prop rod from its slot in
the hood and return the prop to its retainer. Lower the
hood 6 to 8 inches (15 to 20 cm) above the vehicle and
release it to latch fully. Check to make sure the hood
is closed and repeat the process if necessary.

Bulb Replacement

For any bulb changing procedure not listed in this
section, contact your dealer.
Halogen Bulbs
{CAUTION:
Halogen bulbs have pressurized gas inside and
can burst if you drop or scratch the bulb. You or
others could be injured. Be sure to read and
follow the instructions on the bulb package.
Headlamps, Front Turn Signal, and
Parking Lamps
To replace a headlamp or front turn signal/parking lamp
bulb, do the following:
1. Open the hood. SeeHood Release on page 5-11
for more information.
2. Lift the inner quick release clips.3. Pull the headlamp assembly away from the vehicle.
4. Remove the cover from the headlamp bulb.
5. Disconnect the wiring harness (C).
6. Remove the headlamp bulb (A) or front turn
signal/parking lamp bulb (B) by turning the socket
counterclockwise.
7. Reinstall by reversing Steps 1 through 6.

(f)Lubricate all key lock cylinders, hood latch assembly,
secondary latch, pivots, spring anchor, release pawl,
rear compartment hinges, outer liftgate handle pivot
points, rear door detent link, roller mechanism, liftgate
handle pivot points, latch bolt, fuel door hinge, cargo
door hinge, locks and folding seat hardware. More
frequent lubrication may be required when exposed to a
corrosive environment. Applying silicone grease on
weatherstrips with a clean cloth will make them
last longer, seal better and not stick or squeak.
(g)Check vent hose at transfer case for kinks and
proper installation.
(h)Change automatic transmission uid and lter if the
vehicle is mainly driven under one or more of these
conditions:
In heavy city traffic where the outside temperature
regularly reaches 90°F (32°C) or higher.
In hilly or mountainous terrain.
When doing frequent trailer towing.
Uses such as found in taxi, police or delivery
service.(i)Drain, ush and rell cooling system. This service
can be complex; you should have your dealer perform
this service. See Engine Coolant on page 5-25 for
what to use. Inspect hoses. Clean radiator, condenser,
pressure cap and ller neck. Pressure test the cooling
system and pressure cap.
(j)A uid loss in any vehicle system could indicate a
problem. Have the system inspected and repaired and
the uid level checked. Add uid if needed.
(k)If you drive regularly under dusty conditions,
inspect the lter at each engine oil change.
