MAIN SWITCH (TT-R90E)
Functions of the respective switch positions
are as follows:
ON: The engine can be started only at this
position.
OFF: All electrical circuits are switched off.
The key can be removed in this position.
“ENGINE STOP” SWITCH
TT-R90
Make sure that the engine stop switch 1 is
positioned to “”. The engine stop switch has
been equipped to ensure safety in an emer-
gency such when the machine is up set or
trouble takes place in the throttle system. The
engine will not start or run when the engine
stop switch is turned to “”.
TT-R90E
The engine stop switch 1 is located on the left
handlebar. Continue pushing the engine stop
switch till the engine comes to a stop.

START SWITCH (TT-R90E)
The start switch 1 is located on the right han-
dlebar. Push this switch to crank the engine
with the starter.

SHIFT PEDAL
The gear ratios of the constant-mesh 3 speed
transmission are ideally spaced. The gears
can be shifted by using the shift pedal 1 on
the left side of the engine.
WARNING
When starting out on the machine, shift the
transmission into 1st after pulling in the front
brake lever and closing the throttle grip.

CONTROL FUNCTIONS
KICK STARTER
WARNING
Before starting the engine, be sure to shift
the transmission into neutral.
Rotate the kick starter 1 away from the
engine. Push the starter down lightly with your
foot until the gears engage, then kick smoothly
and forcefully to start the engine.

THROTTLE GRIP
The throttle grip 1 is located on the right han-
dlebar; it accelerates or decelerates the
engine. For acceleration, turn the grip toward
you; for deceleration, turn it away from you.

FRONT BRAKE LEVER
The front brake lever 1 is located on the right
handlebar. Pull it toward the handlebar to acti-
vate the front brake.

REAR BRAKE PEDAL
The rear brake pedal 1 is located on the right
side of the machine. Press down on the brake
pedal to activate the rear brake.

STARTING AND OPERATION
STARTING AND OPERATION
CAUTION:
Prior to operating the machine, perform
steps listed in pre-operation check list.
WARNING
Never start your engine or let it run for any
length of time in a closed area. The exhaust
fumes are poisonous and can cause loss of
consciousness and death within a short
time. Always operate your machine in an
area with adequate ventilation.
STARTING A COLD ENGINE
TT-R90
WARNING
Before starting the engine, be sure to shift
the transmission into neutral.
1. Turn the fuel cock to “ON”.
2. Operate the starter (choke) and com-
pletely close the throttle grip.
3. Slide the “ENGINE STOP” switch to the
“”.
4. Kick the kick starter with full strength to
start the engine.
5. After the engine starts, warm up for one
or two minutes. Make sure the stater
(choke) is returned to the original position
before riding.
TT-R90E
WARNING
Before starting the engine, be sure to shift
the transmission into neutral.
NOTE:
This model is equipped with an ignition cir-
cuit cut-off system. In case of electric start-
ing, the engine can be started only when the
transmission is in neutral.
If the engine fails to start by pushing the start
switch, release the switch, wait a few sec-
onds, and then try again. Each starting
attempt should be as short as possible to
preserve the battery. Do not crank the
engine more than 10 seconds on any one
attempt. If the engine does not start with the
starter motor, try using the kickstarter.1. Turn the fuel cock to “ON”.
2. Turn the main switch to “ON”.
3. Shift the transmission into neutral.
4. Operate the starter (choke) and com-
pletely close the throttle grip.
5. Start the engine by pushing the start
switch or by kicking the kickstarter.
6. After the engine starts, warm up for one
or two minutes. Make sure the stater
(choke) is returned to the original position
before riding.
STARTING A WARM ENGINE
To start a warm engine, refer to the “Starting a
cold engine” section. The starter (choke)
should not be used. The throttle should be
opened slightly.
CAUTION:
See “Engine break-in Section” prior to
operating engine for the first time.
WARMING UP
To get maximum engine life, always “warm-up”
the engine before starting off. Never accelerate
hard with a cold engine! To see whether or not
the engine is warm, see if it responds to throt-
tle normally with the stater (choke) turned off.
WARNING
Before starting off, be sure to turn up or
remove the side stand.
Failure to retract the side stand completely
can result in a serious accident when you
try to turn a corner.
ENGINE BREAK-IN
Brake-in is important to better fit the moving
and sliding parts as well as the installed parts.
It is also important to accustom the rider to the
machine better.
Avoid full-throttle run on a new machine for the
first 5 hours.
After the trial run, check for loose parts, oil
leakage and other problems.
Make full inspection and adjustment especially
of slack cables and drive chain and loose
spokes.
CAUTION:
After the break-in period, check every fit-
ting and fastener for looseness.
If any loose is found, retighten it securely.

ATTENTION:
Avant d’utiliser le véhicule, toujours effectuer
les contrôles et entretiens avant utilisation
recommandés.
AVERTISSEMENT
Ne jamais mettre le moteur en marche ni le laisser
tourner aussi peu de temps soit-il dans un local
fermé. Les gaz d’échappement sont délétères et
peuvent provoquer une perte de connaissance et
même la mort en peu de temps. Ne laisser tourner
le moteur que dans un endroit bien ventilé.
MISE EN MARCHE A FROID
TT-R90
AVERTISSEMENT
Avant de mettre le moteur en marche, veiller à
ce que le véhicule soit au point mort.
1. Placer le robinet de carburant sur “ON”.
2. Ouvrir le starter au maximum et couper les
gaz complètement.
3. Faire basculer le coupe-circuit du moteur à la
position “” (marche).
4. Lancer le moteur en actionnant le kick de tou-
tes ses forces.
5. Une fois le moteur en marche, le laisser
chauffer pendant une ou deux minutes.
S’assurer d’avoir bien refermé le starter avant
de se mettre en route.
TT-R90E
AVERTISSEMENT
Avant de mettre le moteur en marche, veiller à
ce que le véhicule soit au point mort.
N.B.:
Ce modèle est équipé d’un coupe-circuit d’allu-
mage. En cas de démarrage par le circuit électri-
que, le moteur peut être mis en marche seulement
lorsque la transmission est au point mort.
Si le moteur ne démarre pas avec le commutateur
de démarrage, relâcher le commutateur, attendre
quelques secondes et ressayer. Chaque essai doit
être bref, sinon la batterie risque de s’user. Ne pas
essayer de mettre le moteur en marche plus de 10
secondes chaque fois. Si le moteur ne démarre
pas, essayer avec le kick.1. Placer le robinet de carburant sur “ON”.
2. Mettre le commutateur principal en position
de marche “ON”.
3. Mettre au point mort.
4. Ouvrir le starter au maximum et couper les
gaz complètement.
5. Démarrer le moteur en appuyant sur le com-
mutateur de démarrage ou en activant le kick.
6. Une fois le moteur en marche, le laisser
chauffer pendant une ou deux minutes.
S’assurer d’avoir bien refermé le starter avant
de se mettre en route.
MISE EN MARCHE A CHAUD
Se reporter à la section “Mise en marche d’un
moteur froid”. Ne pas utiliser le starter. Ne pas
accélérer brutalement.
ATTENTION:
Se reporter à la section “Rodage” avant la pre-
mière mise en marche du moteur.
MISE EN TEMPERATURE
Toujours “réchauffer” le moteur avant de démarrer
afin de prolonger au maximum la durée de service du
moteur. Ne jamais accélérer à l’excès lorsque le
moteur est froid! Le moteur est chaud lorsqu’il répond
normalement aux accélérations, le starter étant fermé.
AVERTISSEMENT
Avant de démarrer, bien veiller à relever ou à
retirer la béquille latérale.
Une béquille mal relevée risque d’être la cause
d’un accident grave dans les virages.
RODAGE
Un rodage est important, car les organes mobiles et
immobiles du moteur doivent s’user et se roder
mutuellement pour obtenir les jeux de marche cor-
rects. Un rodage permet également au pilote de
s’ahbituer à son véhicule.
Éviter de rouler à pleins gaz pendant les premières
5 heures d’utilisation du véhicule.
Après le premier essai, contrôler le serrage des pièces,
s’assurer qu’il n’y a pas de fuites ou tout autre problème.
Il convient d’effectuer une inspection et un réglage
complets du véhicule, et tout particulièrement de la
tension des câbles et de la chaîne ainsi que du ser-
rage des rayons.
ATTENTION:
Après le rodage, contrôler le serrage de toute la
visserie.
Resserrer correctement toute fixation desserrée.
