Synchronizing power windows
The power window must be resynchro-
nized each time
after the battery has been disconnect-
ed.
if the power windows cannot be fully
opened (Express-open) or closed (Ex-
press-close).
Synchronizing the power windows
Switch on ignition.
Pull the power window switches until
the side windows are closed.
Hold the switches for approximately
one second.
The power window are adjusted.

sliding /pop-up roof* if there is the possibil-
ity of anyone being harmed by the opening
or closing procedure.
In the event that the procedure causes po-
tential danger, the procedure can be imme-
diately halted by releasing the button on the
SmartKey. To reverse direction of move-
ment, press Œ for opening or ‹ for
closing.

Opening and closing the roller sun-
blinds for the panorama sliding/pop-up roof
The sliding/pop-up roof and the roller sun-
blinds can be opened and closed electri-
cally. The switch for the sliding/pop-up
roof and the roller sunblinds is on the over-
head control panel.
The roller sunblinds only operate with pan-
orama sliding/pop-up roof closed. 1

Turn SmartKey in the starter switch to
position 1 or 2.
Opening and closing the roller sun-
blinds
To open or close the roller sunblinds,
move the switch to the resistance point
in the required direction 1to4 .
Release the switch when the roller sun-
blinds have reached the desired posi-
tion.

When opening or closing the panorama
sliding / pop-up roof, make sure there is no
danger of anyone being harmed by the open-
ing or closing procedure.
If the panorama sliding / pop-up roof is
closed with the convenience closing feature
and becomes blocked, it will not open auto-
matically. Should this occur, press the
Œ button on the SmartKey and hold it
down; the panorama sliding / pop-up roof
opens again.
The panorama roof is made out of glass. In
the event of an accident, the glass may shat-
ter. This may result in an opening in the roof.
In a vehicle rollover, occupants not wearing
their seat belts or not wearing them properly
may be thrown out of the opening. Such an
opening also presents a potential for injury
for occupants wearing their seat belts prop-
erly as entire body parts or portions of them
may protrude from the passenger compart-
ment.

roof switch or the rear roller sunblind
switch past the resistance point in

The roller sunblinds opens completely.
Stopping the roller sunblinds
Move the switch in any direction. Opening and closing the panorama

The panorama sliding/pop-up roof only op-
erates with the roller sunblinds opened.
1 Push up to raise roof at rear
2 Pull down to lower roof at rear
3 Push forward to slide roof closed
4 Push back to slide roof open

When closing the roller sunblinds, make
sure that no one is in danger of being injured
by the closing procedure. The closing of the
roller sunblinds can be immediately halted
by releasing the switch.

sliding / pop-up roof, make sure there is no

ing or closing procedure.
The opening procedure of the panorama
sliding/pop-up roof can be immediately
halted by releasing the switch or, if the
switch was moved past the resistance point
and released, by moving the switch in any di-
rection.
The closing procedure of the panorama
sliding/pop-up roof can be immediately
halted by releasing the switch.
When leaving the vehicle, always remove the
SmartKey from starter switch and lock your
vehicle. Do not leave children unattended in
the vehicle, or with access to an unlocked
vehicle. Unsupervised use of vehicle equip-
ment may cause an accident and/or serious
personal injury.

To open, close, raise or lower the pan-
orama sliding/pop-up roof, move the
switch to the resistance point in the re-
quired direction 1to4 .
Release the switch when the roof has
reached the desired position. Opening the panorama
sliding/pop-up roof automatically
Move the switch past the resistance
point in direction
4 and release.
The panorama sliding/pop-up roof will
not open completely.
Press the switch again to open it com-
pletely.
Stopping the panorama
sliding / pop-up roof
Move the switch in any direction.
!Do not transport any objects that pro-
trude out of the panorama
sliding / pop-up roof as the seals could
be damaged.
Do not open the panorama
sliding / pop-up roof if there is snow or
ice on the roof, as this could result in
malfunctions.
The panorama sliding/pop-up roof can
be opened or closed manually should
an electrical malfunction occur
(page 292).

gins to slide open after approximately
one second.
Release transmit button to stop proce-

sion or sudden maneuver, exercise care
when stowing objects in the vehicle. Put lug-

pile luggage or cargo higher than the seat
backs. Do not place anything on the luggage
cover below the rear window.
Luggage nets cannot secure hard or heavy
objects.
Keep compartment lids closed. This will help
to prevent stored objects from being thrown
about and injuring vehicle occupants during
an accident.

Secure vehicle from movement by set-
ting the parking brake. Move the gear
selector lever to positionN.
Now you have more room to take out
the insert.
Slide ashtray insert in direction of
arrow 2 until it disengages.
Grip ashtray at indents (arrows 3) and
remove insert from ashtray frame.
Reinstalling the ashtray insert
Install insert by pushing back into
frame until it engages again. Rear seat ashtray

Removing ashtray insert
Press latch 1 to disengage ashtray in-
sert and remove it.
Reinstalling the ashtray insert
Install ashtray insert.
Close the ashtray.
Cigarette lighter

Turn SmartKey in the starter switch to
position 1 or 2.
Slide cover 2 rearward.
Push in cigarette lighter 1.
The cigarette lighter will pop out auto-
matically when hot.

Remove front ashtray only with vehicle
standing still. Set the parking brake to se-
cure vehicle from movement. Move gear se-
lector lever to position

Useful features
Telephone*
Radio transmitters, such as a portable tele-
phone or a citizens band unit, should only
be used inside the vehicle if they are con-
nected to an antenna that is installed on
the outside of the vehicle.
The external antenna must be approved by
Mercedes-Benz. Please contact an autho-
rized Mercedes-Benz Center for informa-
tion on the installation of an approved
external antenna. Refer to the radio trans-
mitter operation instructions regarding use
of an external antenna.

Never touch the heating element or sides of
the cigarette lighter; they are extremely hot.
Hold the knob only.
When leaving the vehicle, always remove the
SmartKey from the starter switch and lock
your vehicle. Do not leave children unat-
