Also, when combined withthe proper use of seat belts, locking thedoors helps keep occupants from beingejected from the car in case of an acci-dent.
o Before opening the door, always look for and avoid oncoming traffic.

operation of the ignition key. For example, turn the ignition key once for digit number"1", and twice for "2", and so on. However,for the digit number "0", you must turn theignition key for 10 times.
2. Wait for 3~10 seconds.
3. You may set the remaining number of digits by following the same procedures 1 and 2.
4. If all of four digits have been tried success- fully, turn the ignition key "ON" and checkthat the immobilizer indicator illuminates.From this time, you have to start your enginewithin 30 seconds. If you start your engineafter 30 seconds, your engine will not start.
NOTE:If the engine dies while driving after limphome procedure, you can start your enginewithin 8 seconds without limp home proce-dure again.
5. If the immobilizer indicator blinks for five seconds, you have to try the limp home procedure again from the beginning.
After doing the limp home procedure, you haveto consult with your authorized Hyundai dealeras soon as possible. CAUTION:
o If you fail to try the limp home procedure with the sequence of three times, youhave to wait for about one hour to do thelimp home procedure again.
o If you cannot start your engine in spite of limp home procedure, have your vehicletowed by an authorized Hyundai dealer.
B880D02A-GAT Limp home procedures In case the immobilizer warning indicator blinks for five seconds when the ignition key isturned to "ON" position, this indicates that theimmobilizer system is out of order. And youcannot start the engine without the limp homeprocedures with ignition key. The following procedure is how to start the engine with the function of the limp home. (0,1, 2, 3 as a sample password). NOTE: You can get the limp home password whenthe vehicle is first delivered to you. If you donot have the password, consult your autho-rized Hyundai dealer.

This will releasethe seat on its track so you can move it forwardor rearward to the desired position. WARNING:To minimize risk of severe injury in theevent of a collision or a sudden stop, boththe driver and passenger seatbacks shouldalways be in an upright position while thevehicle is in motion. The protection provid-ed by the seat belts and airbags in a frontalcollision may be reduced significantly whenthe seatbacks are reclined. There is greaterrisk that the driver and passenger will slideunder the seat belt which may result inserious injury if a crash occurs when theseatbacks are reclined. The seat belt cannotprovide full protection to an occupant if theseat back is reclined.
3) Do not leave children alone in the car.
Always remove the ignition key for theirsafety.
Headrests are designed to help reduce the risk of neck injuries.

under the seat cushion to the headrest stay of front driver and passenger seat.
6. Insert the removed headrests between the seatback and seat cushion, so that they willnot be thrown forward in the case of asudden stop or an accident.
7. To return the seatback and seat cushion to its normal position, reverse the above pro-cedure.
o When you return the seatback to its upright position, always be sure it is locked intoposition by pulling and pushing on the top ofseatback.
WARNING:
o When you return the folded down seat back to its upright position, make surethe seat belts are in position to be acces-sible and to function properly.
o The purpose of the fold down rear seat back and the fold forward rear seat cush-ion is to increase cargo space. Do notallow passengers to sit in the cargo areawhile the car is moving. This is not aproper seating position and no seat beltsare available for use when the seat backis folded down. Passengers who are notproperly seated and wearing seat beltscould sustain serious injuries or death incase of an accident or a sudden stop.
o Objects should not extend higher than the top of the front seatbacks. This couldallow cargo to slide forward and causeinjury or damage during sudden stops.
4. Pull the seat cushion release lever upward,
then fold up the seat cushion.
CAUTION:To prevent damage, ensure that the reardrinkholder, located in the rear console, isclosed before folding the rear seatback andseat cushion.

Children who are too large for child restraintsystems should always occupy the rear seatand use the available lap/shoulder belts. Thelap portion should be fastened snug on thehips and as low as possible. Check belt fitperiodically. A child's squirming could put thebelt out of position. Children are afforded themost safety in the event of an accident whenthey are restrained by a proper restraint sys-tem in the rear seat. If a larger child (over age13) must be seated in the front seat, the childshould be securely restrained by the availablelap/shoulder belt and the seat should be placedin the rearmost position. WARNING: Sitting in a reclined position or lying downwhen your vehicle is in motion can be dan-gerous. Even if you buckle up, your seatbelts can't do their job when you're reclined.The shoulder belt can't do its job because itwon't be against your body. Instead, it willbe in front of you. In a crash you could gointo it with great force, receiving seriousneck or other injuries.The lap belt can't do its job either. In a crashthe belt could go up over your abdomen.The belt forces would be applied there, notat your strong pelvic bones.This could cause serious internal injuries.For proper protection when the vehicle is inmotion, have the seatback upright. Then sitback in the seat and wear your seat beltproperly. See page 1-15.

Parts of the system that are damagedshould be replaced as soon as possible. B160C01A-AAT Keep Belts Clean and DrySeat belts should be kept clean and dry. If belts become dirty, they can be cleaned by using amild soap solution and warm water. Bleach,dye, strong detergents or abrasives should notbe used because they may damage and weakenthe fabric. B160D01A-AAT When to Replace Seat Belts Entire in-use seat belt assembly or assemblies should be replaced if the vehicle has beeninvolved in an accident. The shoulder portion shouldbe adjusted so that it lies across your chest andmidway over your shoulder nearest the doorand not your neck.To adjust the height of the seat belt anchor,lower or raise the height adjuster into an appro-priate position. 1. Before fastening the rear seat center belt, confirm the metal tab (a) and buckle (b) are latched together.
2. After confirming that (a) and (b) are latched, pull the seat belt out of the retractor andinsert the metal tab (c) into the buckle (d).
There will be an audible "click" when the tablocks in the buckle. The seat belt automaticallyadjusts to the proper length only after the lap beltis adjusted manually so that it fits snugly aroundyour hips. If you lean forward in a slow, easymotion, the belt will extend and let you movearound. If there is a sudden stop or impact, thebelt will lock into position.
