B340A01A-AAT COMBINATION TURN SIGNAL, HEADLIGHT AND HIGH-BEAMSWITCH Turn Signal Operation Pulling down on the lever causes the turn signals on the left side of the car to blink.Pushing upwards on the lever causes the turnsignals on the right side of the car to blink. Asthe turn is completed, the lever will automati-cally return to the center position and turn offthe turn signals at the same time. If either turnsignal indicator light blinks more rapidly thanusual, goes on but does not blink, or does notgo on at all, there is a malfunction in the system.Check for a burned-out fuse or bulb or see yourHyundai dealer.

B340C02FC-GAT Headlight Switch
To operate the headlights, turn the barrel on the end of the multi-function switch. The first posi-tion turns on the parking lights, sidelights, taillights and instrument panel lights. The secondposition turns on the headlights. NOTE: The ignition must be in the "ON" position toturn on the headlights. Parking light auto cut (If installed)
If you do not turn the parking lights "OFF" after driving, the parking lights will automati-cally shut "OFF" when the driver's door isopened. To turn them "ON" again you must simply turn the ignition key to the "ON" position.
B340F01A-GAT Daytime Running Lights (If Installed) Your Hyundai is equipped with daytime running lights. The daytime running lights are used toimprove visibility for oncoming traffic. Your
vehicle daytime running lights are designed toremain on continuously when the engine isoperating even though the headlight switch is inthe "OFF" position. However, the daytime run-
ning lights will be off while the parking brake isapplied.

2- 8 o Do not hold the vehicle on the upgrade with
the accelerator pedal. This can cause the transmission to overheat. Always use the brake pedal or parking brake.
C120A02A-AAT ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (If Installed) The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is designed to prevent wheel lock-up during sudden braking or on hazardous road surfaces. The ABS control module monitors the wheel speed and controls the pressure applied to each brake. Thus, in emergency situations or on slick roads, ABS will increase vehicle control during braking. NOTE: During ABS operation, a slight pulsation may be felt in the brake pedal when the brakes are applied. Also, a noise may be heard in the engine compartment while braking. These conditions are normal and indicate that the anti-lock brake system is functioning proper- ly. WARNING: ABS will not prevent accidents due to im- proper or dangerous driving maneuvers. Even though vehicle control is improved during emergency braking, always maintain a safe distance between you and objects ahead. Vehicle speeds should always be reduced during extreme road conditions. The braking distance for cars equipped with

o If a tire goes flat while you are driving, apply
the brakes gently and keep the car pointed straight ahead while you slow down. When
you are moving slowly enough for it to be safe to do so, pull off the road and stop in a safe place.
o If your car is equipped with an automatic
transaxle, don't let your car creep forward. To avoid creeping forward, keep your foot on the brake pedal when the car is stopped.
o Use caution when parking on a hill. Engage
the parking brake and place the gear selector lever in "P" (automatic transaxle) or in first or
reverse gear (manual transaxle). If your car is
facing downhill, turn the front wheels into the curb to help keep the car from rolling. If your car is facing uphill, turn the front wheels away from the curb to help keep the car from rolling. If there is no curb or if it is required by other conditions to keep the car from rolling, block the wheels.
o Under some conditions your parking brake can freeze in the engaged position. This is most likely to happen when there is an accu- mulation of snow or ice around or near the rear brakes or if the brakes are wet. If there is a risk that the parking brake may freeze, apply it only temporarily while you put the gear selector lever in "P" (automatic) or in first or reverse gear (manual transaxle) and block the rear wheels so the car cannot roll. Then release the parking brake.
C130A01A-AAT GOOD BRAKING PRACTICES WARNING: Nothing should be carried on top of the shelf panel behind the rear seat. If there were an accident or a sudden stop, such objects could move forward and cause damage to the ve- hicle or injure the occupants.
o After being parked, check to be sure the
parking brake is not engaged and that the parking brake indicator light is out before driving away.
o Driving through water may get the brakes
wet. They can also get wet when the car is washed. Wet brakes can be dangerous! Your
car will not stop as quickly if the brakes are wet. Wet brakes may cause the car to pull to one side. To dry the brakes, apply the brakes lightly until the braking action returns to nor-
mal, taking care to keep the car under control at all times. If the braking action does not return to normal, stop as soon as it is safe to do so and call your Hyundai dealer for assis- tance.
o Don't coast down hills with the car out of gear.
This is extremely hazardous. Keep the car in gear at all times, use the brakes to slow down, then shift to a lower gear so that engine braking will help you maintain a safe speed.
o Don't "ride" the brake pedal. Resting your foot on the brake pedal while driving can be dan- gerous because it can result in the brakes overheating and losing their effectiveness. It

6-20 CAUTION: A burned-out fuse indicates that there is aproblem in the electrical circuit. If you re-place a fuse and it blows as soon as theaccessory is turned on, the problem is seri-ous and should be referred to a Hyundaidealer for diagnosis and repair. Never re-place a fuse with anything except a fusewith the same or a lower amperage rating. Ahigher capacity fuse could cause damageand create a fire hazard.

4. Replace the blown fuse by pressing a new fuse of the same rating into place. The fuse should be a snug fit. If it is not, have the fuseclip repaired or replaced by a Hyundai dealer.If you do not have a spare fuse, you may beable to borrow a fuse of the same or lowerrating from an accessory you can tempo-rarily get along without (the radio or cigarettelighter, for example). Always remember toreplace the borrowed fuse.

Replacing Accessory Fuse The fuse box for the lights and other electrical accessories will be found in the backside of multibox located in the left side of driver. Inside the boxyou will find a list showing the circuits protectedby each fuse. If any of your car’s lights or other electrical
accessories stop working, a blown fuse couldbe the reason. If the fuse has burned out, youwill see that the metal strip inside the fuse hasburned through. If you suspect a blown fuse,follow this procedure:

tions. 1. Turn off the ignition and all other switches.
2. Open the fuse box and examine each fuse.
Remove each fuse by pulling it toward you (a small "fuse puller" tool is contained in thefuse box to simplify this operation).
3. Be sure to check all other fuses even if you find one that appears to have burned out.

B570A01FC-EAT BONNET RELEASE Pull the release lever inside the vehicle to unlatch the bonnet. At the front of the vehicle, push the safety catch lever sidewards as shown and raise the bonnet by hand. Support the bonnet by means of the bonnet prop.Before closing the bonnet, ensure that the prop is correctly stowed. Lower the bonnet by hand to a position of approximately 30cm from the closed position and allow the bonnet to drop. Do not attempt to close the bonnet by lowering the panel to the closed position and pressing upon the panel work since this may result in damage to the panel. CAUTION: Ensure that the bonnet prop has been
removed prior to closing the bonnet. Al- ways check to ensure that the bonnet has latched prior to setting the vehicle in mo- tion.
WARNING: The bonnet prop must be correctly in-
serted into the panel to prevent the possi-bility of injury arising from the bonnet falling.

HFC2018-D SB440A1-E REMOTE FUEL FILLER FLAPRELEASE (Not all models) The fuel filler flap may be opened from inside the vehicle by pulling up on the fuel filler flap release. NOTE: If the fuel filler flap will not open becauseice has formed around it, tap lightly or push on it to break the ice and release it. Do not lever the flap. If necessary, spray around the flap with an approved deicer fluid (do not use radiator anti-freeze) or move the vehicle to a warm place and allow the ice to melt.

garding the retreatment programme must be observed in accordance with the Terms and Conditions outlined in the separate Anti Per- foration Warranty Booklet. NOTE: The underbody should never be steamcleaned since the underbody coating may be removed by this process. During the interim period between powerwashing the underbody, the more vulnera- ble areas such as wheel arches should be hosed off particularly during the winter sea- son to prevent prolonged contact with road salts.Ensure that the various drain points located at the bottom of the door panels and sills are kept clear to prevent water from becom- ing trapped within the cavities. Wherever possible, the parking of the vehicle in a confined, poorly ventilated location (a ga- rage for example) should be avoided when the vehicle is wet or is covered with snow or ice. Under these conditions, the internal cavities of the vehicle will remain damp for prolonged periods of time which will en- courage corrosion. Parking the vehicle where good ventilation exists (outside for example) is preferable.
SE040A1-E VALETING Regular cleaning of the exterior paintwork serves two important functions. Firstly, the removal of abrasive dirt and contaminants will maintain the lustre of the paintwork and will prevent discolouration and dulling due to prolonged con- tact. Secondly, the presence of damage through im- pact or abrasion will be apparent allowing early rectification to be made thus preventing corro- sion from becoming established and spreading beneath the paint film. To avoid "water spotting" the vehicle should not be washed in direct sun- light particularly in the case of vehicles having dark body colours. The heat from the sun rays is absorbed by the paint film increasing the surface temperature. This action causes water used for washing to evaporate quickly leaving behind the deposits from the water and the shampoo used. Use only a shampoo intended for the purpose and ensure that the body work is thoroughly wetted to soften the dirt film prior to attempting to remove this. After removing the dirt film with a soft sponge, the body work should be thoroughly rinsed and then dried with a good quality chamois leather to prevent streaking or spotting of the paint work. Household detergents, solvents and abrasive cleaning materials should not be used in order to avoid damaging the paint film.

In order that this treatment may retain maximum effectiveness it is recommend- ed that the underbody receives a power wash and a thorough inspection after each winter season.
