To ensure that sufficient vacuum exists within the brake system dur-ing cold weather start-up condi- tions, it is necessary to run the engine at idle after starting the en-gine. NOTE: Fluid levels, such as engine oil, engine coolant, brake fluid, and windshield washer fluid, should be checked daily and/or weekly, orwhenever you refuel. Further details are described in the "CONSUMER INFORMATION" sec-tion. B020A01P-GAT During the running-in period for the first 1,000km(600miles), it is advisable to drive your new vehicle using the following precautions as a guideline toaid long life as well as future economy and performance.
1. Do not race the engine at high

For the maintenance items to be doneby the owner, prepare the appropriate materials and tools and follow the pro- cedures given in the "Consumer infor- mation" section of this manual. However, the periodic inspection andmaintenance should not be attempted by the owner, but should be done by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.Correct performance of the periodic inspection and maintenance items re- quires specialized knowledge andequipment. Having these items performed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer with thelatest technology and equipment will ensure that your vehicle is maintained for optimum performance, economy,and safety. In addition, having all periodic inspec-tion and maintenance done by an au-thorized HYUNDAI dealer is a prereq- uisite for validity of the warranty on your vehicle in the event of a claim.Refer to the separate "Service Book- let" for the periodic inspection and maintenance items and intervals. Tire replacement
Tires which do not meet the size specifications must not be used. Re- placement of the tires must be made as a set of the two front tires, the tworear tires, or all four tires.A mixture of bias-ply tires and radialtires must not be used. For driving safely, and in order to

Tire air pressure
The air pressure of the tires mustalways be maintained in accordance with the specifications, and should be measured when the tires are cool.If any changes in driving conditions(speed and/or load weight) occur, theair pressure of the tires must meet the specifications which apply to the new driving conditions. If the vehicle isgoing to be driven under varying load weight, etc., the air pressure must be adjusted in order to meet the highestspecifications of the conditions under which the vehicle is driven (high speeds and maximum load weight). F010T01P-GAT Tire storage Storage of the tires should be in a dark, well-ventilated place.Tires not mounted on rims should bestored vertically. Be sure that the tires are not in contact with fuel, oil grease, etc.

7CHECKING THE ENGINE OIL
If you notice anything that does not
operate correctly or appear to be func- tioning correctly, inspect it carefully and seek assistance from your Hyundai dealer if service is needed.
Adequate care of your vehicle at regu-
lar intervals serves to preserve thevalue and appearance as long aspossible.
Some maintenance items can be car-
ried out by the owner (Consumer Information), while other should be done only by an authorized dealer(Periodic Inspection and Mainte- nance). This section describes only those items which can be carried outby the owner. In the event a malfunc- tion or other problem is discovered, have it corrected by an authorizedHYUNDAI dealer. This section con- tains information on inspection main- tenance procedures that you can doyourself, if you so desire. Follow the instructions and cautions for each of the various procedures. When checking or servicing the in-side of the engine compartment, besure the engine is stopped and has had a chance to cool down. If it is necessary to do work in the enginecompartment with the engine running, be especially careful that your cloth- ing, hair, etc., becomes not caught bythe fan, V-belts, or other moving parts.
