There are three control buttons for the digital clock. Their functions are: HOUR - Push "H" to advance the hour
indicated.
MIN - Push "M" to advance the
minute indicated.
RESET - Push "R" to reset minutes to
":00" to facilitate resetting the clock to the correct time. When this is done:
Pressing "R" between 10 : 30 and 11 :29 changes the readout to 11 : 00. Pressing "R" between 11 : 30 and 12 : 29 changes the readout to 12 : 00. C440A01PHORN

D050C02A-GAT Good Driving Practices
o Never take the vehicle out of gear
and coast down a hill. This is ex- tremely hazardous. Always leave the vehicle in gear.
o Don't "ride" the brakes. This can cause them to overheat and mal-function. Instead, when you are driv- ing down a long hill, slow down andshift to a lower gear. When you do this, engine braking will help slow the car.
o Slow down before shifting to a lower gear. This will help avoid over-running theengine, which can cause damage.
o Slow down when you encounter
cross winds. This gives you muchbetter control of your car.
o Be sure the vehicle is completely
stopped before you attempt to shiftinto reverse. The transmission can be damaged if you do not. To shift into reverse, depress the clutch, move the shift lever to neutral, wait three seconds, then shift to the re- verse position. o Exercise extreme caution when driv-
ing on a slippery surface. Be espe-cially careful when braking, acceler- ating or shifting gears. On a slippery surface, an abruptchange in engine speed can cause the drive wheels to lose traction and the vehicle to go out of control.
CAUTION:
o The risk of rollover is greatly in- creased if you lose control of your vehicle at highway speeds.
o Loss of control often occurs if
two or more wheels drop off theroadway and the driver oversteers to reenter the roadway.
o In the event your vehicle leaves the roadway, do not steer sharply.Instead, slow down before pull-ing back into the travel lanes.
o In a collision crash, an unbelted
person is significantly more likelyto die than a person wearing a seatbelt.
o Never exceed posted speed lim-
its.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
D060A01P-GAT (Minibus/Van) (If installed) The highly efficient Hyundai automatic transmission has four forward speedsand one reverse speed. It has a con- ventional shift pattern as shown in the illustration. At night, with the side markers or head- lights switched on, the appropriate symbol on the quadrant will be illumi-nated according to the range selected. CAUTION:
Never shift into "R" or "P" positionwhile the vehicle is moving.

o Always use the parking brake. Do
not depend on placing the transmis- sion in "P" to keep the vehicle from moving.

ing on a slippery surface. Be espe-cially careful when braking, acceler- ating or shifting gears. On a slippery surface, an abrupt change in engine speed can cause the drive wheels to lose traction andthe vehicle to go out of control.
o Do not hold the vehicle on the up-
grade with the accelerator pedal. This can cause the transmission to overheat. Always use the brake pedal or parking brake. CAUTION:

FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE (4WD)
D090A01P-GAT (Minibus) (If installed) You can send your engine power to all front and rear wheels for maximumpower. 4WD is useful when you drive in snow, mud, ice, mountainous or sandy areas where good traction isrequired, or when your wheels lose traction using two-wheel drive. D090A01P

D090D02P-GAT Transfer shift switch operation By selecting the transfer shift switch(4H, 4L), the both axles of thevehicle are rigidly connected with each other. This improves the traction char- acteristics.
2H 4H
Select the 4H mode switch at speed below 60~70 km/h. It is not necessary to depress the clutch pedal (manualtransmission) or put the shift lever into "N" position (automatic transmission). Perform this operation when drivingstraight. 4H 2H
Select the 2H mode switch. This canbe done at any speed, and it is notnecessary to depress the clutch pedal (manual transmission) or put the shift lever into "N" position (automatic trans-mission). Perform this operation when driving straight.
CAUTION:
If four wheel drive is to be used, both the left and right free wheel hubs must be set to the "LOCK" position. Do not attempt to drivethe vehicle with the transfer shift switch is selected to either the "4H" or "4L" position if the free wheelhubs are in the "FREE" position. If the setting of the free wheel hubs is to be changed after extended use ofthe brake (such as for descending a long slope), allow them to cool first. The free wheel hubs can be becomeextremely hot and could cause se- vere burns.! D090C01P-GAT Auto vacuum type free wheel hubs (If installed) The auto vacuum type free wheel hub is designed to allow for automatic 4WDengagement when the transfer shift switch is selected to the 4H or 4L position. When engaging and disengaging, the auto vacuum type free wheel hubs will make a clicking noise. This is normal.

E050B02P-GAT To reinstall the spare tire Installation is the reverse order of dis- assembly.
CAUTION:
The spare tire should always besecurely in position. If a flat tire is changed, put the flat tire in the spare tire mounting posi- tion, and use the wheel nut wrenchto secure it firmly.

1. Open the tailgate
2. Remove the plastic cover.

(295 N). Then, remove the spare tire carrier wrench with care not to turn it in thereverse direction. Now, ensure that the tire is secured in position.
CAUTION:
If you cannot secure the spare tire in position, load it on the cargodeck and ask your nearest service shop for inspection.

E050D01PD050A01HP-GAT If a tire goes flat while you are driving:
1. Take your foot off the accelerator
pedal and let the car slow down while driving straight ahead. Do not apply the brakes immediately or at- tempt to pull off the road as this maycause a loss of control. When the car has slowed to such a speed that it is safe to do so, brake carefullyand pull off the road. Drive off the road as far as possible and park on firm, level ground. If you are on adivided highway, do not park in the median area between the two traffic lanes.
2. When the car is stopped, turn on your emergency hazard flashers, set the parking brake and put thetransmission in "P" (automatic trans- mission) or reverse (manual trans- mission).
3. Have all passengers get out of the car. Be sure they all get out on theside of the car that is away fromtraffic.
4. Change the tire according to the
instructions provided as following.

7CHANGING A FLAT TIRE
D060A01HP-GAT The procedure described on the fol- lowing pages can be used to rotatetires as well as to change a flat tire. D060D01A-AAT 3. Loosen Wheel Nuts The wheel nuts should be loosened slightly before raising the car. To loosenthe nuts, turn the wrench handle coun- terclockwise. When doing this, be sure that the socket is seated completelyover the nut so it cannot slip off. For maximum leverage, position the wrench so the handle is to the right asshown in the illustration. Then, while holding the wrench near the end of the handle, pull up on it with steady pres-sure. Do not remove the nuts at this time. Just loosen them about one-half turn. HSRFL056

The method for jacking up the vehicle should be remembered in order tochange a tire in the event of a puncture and in order to install tire chains. After stopping the engine and applying the parking brake on a flat level sur-face, also use chocks to hold the wheels. Position the jack only at the specified points indicated in the illustration, and the use of the jack at other points coulddamage the vehicle body.
