Press the button to increase
the fan speed and air flow. Press the
button to decrease them.
The driver’s side temperature and
passenger’s side temperature can be
set separately. Press either side’s
button to increase the temperature
of air f low. Press either side’s
button to decrease it. When you set
the temperature to its lower limit or
its upper limit, it will be displayed as
‘‘Lo’’ or ‘‘Hi’’.
This button turns the air
conditioning on and of f . The A/C
ON indicator comes on in the display
when the A/C is on.
When the indicator in the button is
on, air f rom the vehicle’s interior is
recirculated throughout the system. When the indicator is off, air is
brought in f rom the outside of the
vehicle (Fresh Air mode).
The outside air intakes f or the
heating and cooling system are at
the base of the windshield. Keep this
area clear of leaves and other debris.

Air mode under almost all conditions.
Keeping the system in Recirculation
mode, particularly with the A/C of f ,
can cause the windows to fog up.
Switch to Recirculation mode when
driving through dusty or smoky
conditions, then return to Fresh Air
mode.
This button turns the rear window
def ogger of f and on (see page ).
Air f lows f rom the f loor
vents. When you select , the
system automatically switches to
Fresh Air mode. Airf low is divided between
the vents in the dashboard and the
f loor vents. Air flows from the center
and corner vents in the dashboard.
Use the mode control button to select the vents the air flows from.
Some air will flow from the
dashboard vents in all modes.

When you select , the system
automatically switches to Fresh Air
mode and turns on the A/C.
Thedriver’ssidemodeand
passenger’s side mode can be
selected separately when the dual
button is pressed. However, whenis selected on the driver’s
side, mode selection on the
passenger’s side is not possible. The f low-through ventilation system
draws in outside air, circulates it
through the interior, then exhausts it
through vents near the rear window.
Set the temperature to maximum.
Make sure the A/C is of f .
Select and Fresh Air mode.
Set the f an to the desired speed.
The heater uses engine coolant to
warm the air. If the engine is cold, it
will be several minutes bef ore you
f eel warm air coming f rom the
system. Select and Fresh Air mode.
Set the f an to the desired speed.
Adjust the warmth of the air with
the temperature control buttons. Air conditioning places an extra load
on the engine. Watch the engine
coolant temperature gauge (see page
). If it moves near the red zone,
turn of f the A/C until the gauge
reads normally.
Turn on the A/C by pressing the
button. The indicator in the button
comesonwhenafanspeedis
selected.
Make sure the temperature is set
to maximum heat.
Select .
If the outside air is humid, select
Recirculation mode. If the outside
air is dry, select Fresh Air mode.
Set the f an to the desired speed. you can
cool it down more rapidly by partially
opening the windows, turning on the
A/C, and setting the fan to
maximum speed in Fresh Air mode.

passenger’s temperature cannot be
set separately f rom the driver’s.
You can set the temperatures and
modes f or the driver’s side and the
passenger’s side separately when
this button is pressed (indicator on).
When the indicator in the DUAL
button is off, you can adjust both
sides to the same temperature and
mode with the driver’s side
temperature control buttons and

When you press a f an control button,
the fan is taken out of AUTO mode
and starts to run at its lowest speed.
Press the button to make
the f an run f aster.
You can manually select various
f unctions of the climate control
system when it is in f ully automatic
mode. All other f eature remain
automatically controlled. Making any
manual selection causes the word
AUTO in the display to go out.
Press the OFF button. However, a
lack of air f low can cause the
windows to fog up. It is
recommended that you keep the f an
on at all times so stale air and
moisture do not build up in the
interior and cause fogging.
When the AUTO button on the
driver’s side is pressed, the
temperature control buttons on the
passenger’s side are disabled, and
the interior temperature is regulated
to the temperature set on the driver’s
side.WhentheAUTObuttononthe
passenger’s side is pressed,
temperature can be set on the driver’s
side and passenger’s side separately.
The system automatically selects the
proper mix of conditioned and/or
heated air that will, as quickly as
possible, raise or lower the interior
temperature to your pref erence.
When you set the temperature to its
lower or its upper limit, the system
runs at f ull cooling or heating only. It
does not regulate the interior
temperature.
The automatic climate control
system adjusts the f an speed and
airflow levels to maintain the interior
temperature you select.
In the AUTO mode, the vehicle’s
interior temperature is
independently regulated f or the
driver and passenger. If the driver’s
side of the vehicle is getting too
much sun, the system will adjust to a
lower temperature.
Press the AUTO button.
Set the desired temperature with
the temperature control buttons.
You will see AUTO in the system’s
display.

The ignition switch must be in the
ACCESSORY (I) or ON (II) position.
Turn the system on by pushing the
VOL/PWR knob or the AM/FM
button (AM or FM button on
Canadian model). Adjust the volume
by turning the same knob.
The band and f requency that the
radio was last tuned to is displayed.
To change bands, press the AM/FM
button (AM or FM button on
Canadian model). On the FM band,
ST will be displayed if the station is
broadcasting in stereo. Stereo
reproduction on AM is not available. You can use any of f ive methods to
f ind radio stations on the selected
band:

preset buttons, and .
Use the TUNE knob to
tune the radio to a desired f requency.
Turn the knob right to tune to a
higher f requency, or lef t to tune to a
lower f requency.
The SEEK f unction
searches up and down from the
current f requency to f ind a station
with a strong signal. To activate it,
press the or SEEK button, then
release it. If you do nothing, the system will
scan f or the next strong station and
play it f or 5 seconds. When it plays a
station you want to listen to, press
the SCAN button again.The SCAN function
samples all stations with strong
signals on the selected band. To
activate it, press the SCAN button, or
touch the SCAN icon (models with
navigation system), then release it.
You will see SCAN in the display.
The system will scan f or a station
with a strong signal. When it f inds
one, it will stop and play that station
f or about 5 seconds.

system) can store one f requency on
AM and two f requencies on FM.

function to tune the radio to a
desired station.
Repeat steps 1 to 3 to store a total
of six stations on AM and twelve
stations on FM. If you are
traveling far from home and can no
longer receive your preset stations,
you can use the Auto Select f eature
to find stations in the local area.
Press the A. SEL button or the
AUTO SELECT icon (models with
navigation system). ‘‘A.SEL’’ (AUTO
SEL) f lashes in the display, and the
system goes into scan mode f or
several seconds. It stores the
f requencies of six AM, and twelve
FM stations in the preset buttons.
You will see a ‘‘0’’ displayed or see no
station number on the preset icons
af ter pressing a preset button (icon)
if Auto Select cannot f ind a strong
station f or every preset button. If you do not like the stations Auto
Select has stored, you can store
other f requencies on the preset
buttons (icons). Use the TUNE,
SEEK, or SCAN f unctions to f ind
stations, then store them in the
preset buttons (icons) as previously
described.

The SCAN f unction gives
you a sampling of all channels while
in the channel mode. In the category
mode, only the stations within that
category are scanned. To activate
SCAN, press the SCAN button or
touch the SCAN icon on the audio
display (models with navigation
system). The system plays each
channel in numerical order f or a f ew
seconds, then selects the next
channel. When you hear a channel
you want to continue listening to,
press the button or touch the icon
again. To store a channel:

buttons or preset icons (models with
navigation system). Each button
stores one channel f rom the XM1
band and one channel f rom the XM2
band.
To store a channel: Press the button. Either
XM1 or XM2 will show in the
display.
Use the TUNE knob, or the
CATEGORY or SCAN buttons to
tune to a desired channel.
In the category mode, only channels
within that category can be selected.
In the channel mode, all channels
can be selected. Pick the preset button (icon) you
want f or that channel. Press and
hold the button (icon) until you
hear a beep.
Repeat steps 2 and 3 to store the
f irst six channels.
Press the button again.
The other XM band will show.
Store the next six channels using
steps 2 and 3.
Once a channel is stored, simply
press and release the proper preset
button (icon) to tune to it.
The presets will be lost if your
vehicle’s battery goes dead, is
disconnected, or the radio f use is
removed.
