Seats
Information on seat adjustment can be
found in the “Getting started” section
(page 34).
Easy-entry/exit feature
With the easy-entry/exit feature activated
the steering wheel tilts upwards. This
allows easier entry into and exit from the
vehicle when the driver’s door is opened.
However, the engine must be turned off.The easy-entry/exit feature can be
switched on or off in the individual setting
menu

When the key is inserted in the starter
switch and the driver’s door is closed, the
steering wheel returns to the last position
set for it.

You must ensure that no one can become
trapped or injured by the moving steering
wheel when the easy-entry/exit feature is
activated, the driver’s door is being opened
and the engine is turned off. Do not leave
children unattended in the vehicle, or with
access to an unlocked vehicle. Unsuper-
vised use of vehicle equipment may cause
an accident and/or serious personal injury.

Press switch 1 upwards and hold until
the head restraint is fully extended.
Pull head restraint out.
Installing front seat head restraint
Press switch 1 upwards and hold for
about five seconds.
Press the head restraint down until it
engages.
Adjust head restraint to the desired po-
sition.
Warning!

For your protection, drive only with properly
positioned head restraints.
Adjust head restraint to support the back of
the head approximately at ear level.
Do not drive the vehicle without the seat
head restraints. Head restraints are intend-
ed to help reduce injuries during an acci-
dent.
Do not interchange head restraints from
front and rear seat.
iTilt the seat backrest rearward for eas-
ier removal and installation of the head
restraints.

Removing rear seat head restraints
Pull out head restraint with both hands. Installing rear seat head restraints
Insert the head restraint and push it
down to the stop.
Ensure proper head restraint positioning,
(
page 36). Synchronizing head restraints and the
seat adjustment fore and aft
If the power supply was interrupted (bat-
tery disconnected or discharged), the head
restraints and the seat adjustment fore
and aft are no longer adjusted automatical-
ly.
The head restraints and the seat adjust-
ment fore and aft must be resynchronized:
Turn key in starter switch to position2.
Move the seat completely forward
(page 35) and the head restraint fully
down (
page 36) and hold the switch-
es for approximately one second.
iThe head restraint(s) should be stored
in a secure place.

Some models may be equipped with driv-
er’s multicontour seat. This seat has a
movable seat cushion and inflatable air
cushions built into the seat backrest to
provide additional lumbar and side sup-
port.
The seat cushion movement and amount of
seat backrest cushion height and curva-
ture can be continuously varied with regu-
lators on the right side of the seat after
turning the SmartKey in the starter switch

Check that the ignition is switched on.
All the lamps in the instrument cluster

Adjust the seat cushion to the length of

Driver’s and front passenger seats
The switch is located in the center console.

!If one or both of the lamps on the seat
heater switch are blinking, there is in-
sufficient voltage available as too many
electrical consumers are turned on.
The seat heater switches off automati-
cally.
The seat heater will switch back on
again automatically as soon as suffi-
cient voltage is available.
iThe system switches over to normal
heating mode after approximately five
minutes. Only one indicator lamp re-
mains lit. iThe seat heater will be automatically
switched off after approximately
30 minutes.

Be sure that the ignition is switched on

SmartKey is inserted in the starter
switch.
Storing positions into memory
Adjust the seats, steering wheel and
rear view mirrors to the desired posi-
tion (
page 34).
Press memory button1.
Release memory button and push posi-
tion button2 within three seconds.
All the settings are stored at the select-
ed position.
Recalling positions from memory
Press and hold position button2 until
the seat, steering wheel and rear view
mirrors have fully moved to the stored
positions.iReleasing the button immediately
stops movement to the stored posi-
tions.Warning!

Do not operate the power seats using the
memory button if the seat backrest is in an
excessively reclined position. Doing so
could cause damage to front or rear seats.
First move seat backrest to an upright posi-
tion.
