o To protect against theft, always
remove the ignition key, close all windows, and lock all doors andthe trunk lid when leaving your vehicle unattended.
Your Hyundai is equipped with a "child- protector" rear door lock assembly. When the lock mechanism is engaged, the rear door cannot be opened fromthe inside. Its use is recommended whenever there are small children in the rear seat. To engage the child-protector feature so the door cannot be opened from theinside, move the child-protector lever to the " " position and close the door. Move the lever to the opposite direc-tion of the " " position when normal door operation is desired.
B040D01S-AAT Locking From the Inside To lock the doors from the inside, simply close the door and push the lock switch to the "LOCK" position. When this is done, neither the outsidenor the inside door handle can be used. NOTE: When the door is locked, the red mark on the switch is not visible.

o When pushing the front portion

The power windows operate when the ignition key is in the "ON" position. The main switches are located on the driver's armrest and control the front and rearwindows on both sides of the vehicle. The windows may be opened by de- pressing the appropriate window switchand closed by pulling up the switch. To open the window on the driver's side, press the switch(1) halfway down. Thewindow moves as long as the switch is operated. To fully open the driver's window automatically, press the switchfully down. In automatic operation, the window will fully open even if you let go of the switch. To stop at the desiredopening, pull up and release the switch. HXG025-1

1) Be careful that someone's head, hands and body are not trapped by a closing window.
2) Never try to operate the main
switch on the driver's door andthe individual door window switch in opposing directions atthe same time. If this is done, the window will stop and cannot be opened or closed.

In order to prevent operation of the passenger front and rear windows, awindow lock switch(2) is provided on the armrest of the driver's door. To disable the power windows, press thewindow lock switch. To revert to nor- mal operation, press the window lock switch a second time. NOTE:
The power windows can be oper- ated for 30 seconds after the igni-tion key is turned to the "ACC" or "LOCK" positions, or removed from the ignition switch.If the front doors are opened during this 30 second period, the power windows can no longer be operatedwithout the ignition key turned to the "ON" position.

When the ignition switch is on and the windshield wiper switch is placed in the "AUTO" mode, please use caution in the following casesto avoid any hand injury: As the wiper system may automati- cally activate, the fingers or handmight be caught in the wiper.
o Do not touch the upper end of the windshield glass facing the rain sensor.
o Do not wipe the upper end of the
windshield glass with a cloth.

Rain Sensor
The rear window defroster and heated outside rearview mirrors are turned onby pushing in the switch. At the same time, the rear window defroster indica- tor light on the switch is turned on. Toturn the defroster off, push the switch a second time. The rear window de- froster automatically turns itself off af-ter about 20 minutes. To restart the defroster cycle, push in the switch again after it has turned itself off.

B370A01A-AAT HAZARD WARNING SYSTEM The hazard warning system should be used whenever you find it necessary to stop the car in a hazardous location. When you must make such an emer-gency stop, always pull off the road as far as possible. The hazard warning lights are turnedon by pushing in the hazard switch. This causes all turn signal lights to blink. The hazard warning lights willoperate even though the key is not in the ignition. To turn the hazard warning lights off,push the switch a second time. To heat the outsiderearview mirror glass, push in the switch for the rear window defroster. The rearview mirror glass will be heated fordefrosting or defogging and will give you improved rear vision in inclimate weather conditions. Push the switchagain to turn the heater off. The remote control outside rearviewmirror switch controls the adjustments for both right and left outside mirrors. To adjust the position of either mirror:
1. Move the selecting switch to the
right or left to activate the adjustable mechanism for the corresponding door mirror.

Be careful when judging the size or distance of any object seen in the passenger side rear view mirror. Itis a convex mirror with a curved surface. Any objects seen in this mirror are closer than they appear.
