The menu ''Guidance options''
provides access to the following functions:
– changing of the route calculation criteria,
– voice synthesis adjustment of guidance messages,
– description of the information relating to the navigation CD-Rom,
– management of the addresses stored in the directory.
Guidance options
The last criterion used is displayed. Select a criterion from the list, then validate by pressing the dial. When the criterion of your choice has been selected, select the
"OK"
function then confirm by pressing thedial. Adjusting the voice synthesiser Select the type of voice "male"or
"female" , after inserting the configu-
ration CD-Rom.
Adjust the volume of the voice synthesis by turning the dial, then validate bypressing the dial. Note: the volume can also be adjusted
during a message, using the audio/ telephone button or the steeringwheel control. Management of the directory This function enables you to rename
an address stored in the directory. Select the description corresponding to the stored address to be changed. Select the
"Rename" function, then
confirm by pressing the dial.Select the "OK"function, then confirm
by pressing the dial to record the changes made. Stopping/Resuming guidance
"Stop guidance" During guidance, select this function then validate.
"Resume guidance" In the absence of guidance, select this function then validate to activateguidance to the last destination programmed. Note: after re-starting the engine, a
screen appears enabling you to resume guidance activated before
the ignition was switched off.

ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM
(ABS) AND THE ELECTRONICBRAKE FORCE DISTRIBUTION(EBFD)
The ABS, in conjunction with the electronic brake force distribution, increases the stability andmanoevrability of your vehicle onbraking, in particular on poor or slip-pery road surfaces. Note: when changing wheels (tyres
and rims), make sure that these are approved. The anti-lock braking system comes into operation automatically whenthere is a risk of wheel lock.
When this warning lightcomes on, accompanied bya buzzer and the message"ABS fault" , it indicates
that there is a malfunction of
the ABS, which can cause a loss ofcontrol of the vehicle when braking.
When this warning lightcomes on, connected to the
STOPand ABS warning
lights, accompanied by abuzzer and the message
'Braking fault' , it indicates that there
is a malfunction of the electronicbrake force distribution, which cancause a loss of control of the vehiclewhen braking.
Normal operation of the ABS may make itself felt by slight vibrationsof the brake pedal. In emergency braking, press very firmly without releasingthe pressure.
EMERGENCY BRAKING
ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
In an emergency, this system enables the optimum braking pres-
sure to be reached more quickly, thus reducing the stopping distance. It is triggered by the speed at which
the brake pedal is activated. The
effect of this is a reduction in theresistance of the pedal and an
increase in braking efficiency.
Stop immediately. In both cases, consult a PEUGEOT
dealer.

TRACTION CONTROL (ASR)
AND DYNAMIC STABILITY
CONTROL (ESP) These systems are linked and com-
plement the ABS.
The ASR system optimises drive to prevent the wheels skidding, by act-ing on the brakes of the drive wheelsand on the engine. It also allows thedirectional stability of the vehicle tobe improved on acceleration. If there is a variation between the tra- jectory followed by the vehicle and
that required by the driver, the ESPsystem automatically acts on theengine and the brake of one or morewheels, in order to put the vehicleback on course.Operating check
When a malfunction of thesystems occurs, the switchlight flashes and the warninglight comes on, accompa-nied by an audible signal
and the message "ESP/ASR not
functioning" on the multifunction
display.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer to have the system checked.

Disarming the ASR/ESP systems In exceptional conditions (starting a vehicle which is bogged down, stuck
in snow, on soft ground, ...), it may
be advisable to disarm the ASR and
ESP systems, so that the wheels canmove freely and regain grip.
Press the "ESP OFF" switch,
located on the central section of the fascia.
The switch lights up and thewarning light comes on: the
ASR and ESP systems aredisarmed.
These are triggered again: automatically if the ignition is
switched off,
automatically above 30 mph (50 km/h),
manually by pressing the switchagain.
Operation of the ASR and ESP systems
The warning light flashes if
the ASR or ESP is activated.
The ESP/ASR systems offer exceptional safety innormal driving, but thisshould not encourage thedriver to take extra risks
or drive at high speed. The correct functioning of these systems depends on observationof the manufacturer's recommen-dations regarding the wheels (tyresand rims), the braking components, the electronic components, and thePEUGEOT assembly and opera-tion procedures. After an impact, have the system
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
