Battery charge warning light This comes on when the ignition is switched on.
Lighting while the engine is runningmay indicate: - faulty operation of the charging cir- cuit,
- slack battery or starter terminals,
-a cut or slack alternator belt,
- an alternator failure.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer. Anti-lock braking system (ABS) warning light If the warning light remains on or comes on above 12 km/h, this indi-
cates an ABS system fault. Nevertheless, the vehicle retains conventional assisted braking.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Traction control (ASR) warning light
If the warning light remains on or comes on while the engine is running
and the vehicle is moving, contact a PEUGEOT dealer. It flashes when the system comes into operation and comes on perma-
nently when the system is disarmed.
Diesel engine pre-heating warning light This comes on when the ignition is switched on. Wait until it goes out before operating the starter.
Engine autodiagnostics warning light This comes on when the ignition is switched on. Lighting while the engine is running indicates:
- an emission control system fault,
or
-a particle emission filter fault.
If it flashes while the engine is running, this indicates an injection or ignition sys-
tem fault. There is a risk of destruction of the catalytic converter (petrol engineonly).
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as possible.

Low brake fluid level warning light Lighting of this warning light while the engine is
running indicates that the handbrakeis applied or has not been released
correctly, or that the brake fluid level
is too low.
Simultaneous lighting of the ABS warning light and the low brake fluidlevel warning light indicates a brakeforce distribution system fault.
Stop immediately.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer.

HEATING / AIR CONDITIONING
1. Air conditioning control The air conditioning is designed to
operate in all seasons. In summer, itenables the temperature to be lowe-
red and in winter, above 0 ¡C, it
increases the effectiveness of thedemisting. Press the switch, the indi-cator light comes on. The air conditioning does not ope-rate while the air flow adjustmentcontrol is in the minimum position. Note:
It is quite normal that the
condensation created by the air condi- tioning results in a flow of water under
the vehicle when it is stationary. This permits recirculation of the insi-
de air. Recirculation permits isolation of the passenger compartment from exter-nal odours and smoke. Used simultaneously with the air conditioning, recirculation permitsimprovement of the air conditioningperformance at cold settings. When the recirculation is used in a humid climate, there is a risk of mis-ting of the windows.
2. Air intake

6. Additional heating system rear air blower control
This is linked with the airflow adjustment 3.
"Outside air intake" posi- tion.
As soon as possible, place control 2
in this position to avoid the risks ofmisting of the windows and deterio-
ration of the air quality.
3. Air flow adjustment
Turn the control from the
Off position to the Max
position to obtain an air
flow sufficient to ensure
your comfort.
4. Temperature adjustment To be adjusted to your requirements.
5. Air distribution adjustment Windscreen and side win-dows (demisting - de-icing).
To quickly de-ice or demist the wind-
screen and side windows: Demisting the rear hinged door win-dows and the mirrors With the engine running, pressing the button once demists the rear hin-ged door windows and the mirrors.
This switches off automatically after a few minutes. It is possible to stop demisting by pressing the button. Pressing the button again resumes demisting. Important precaution Operate the air conditioning system for 5 to 10 minutes, once or twice a month,
to keep it in perfect working order.
If the system does not produce cold air, do not use it and contact a PEUGEOT
dealer. Note:
to optimise the operation of
the air conditioning, leave the vents open. Ð set the temperature and air flow controls to maximum,
Ð close the centre vents,
Ð place the exterior air intake control2 in the "Outside air intake" posi-
tion,
Ð switch on the air conditioning bypressing button 1.
