Power steering reservoir
Open the reservoir, with the engine
cold. The level should always beabove the MINI mark, close to theMAXI mark. Manual gearbox This does not need an oil change. Check the level according to themanufacturer's servicing schedule.
Windscreen wash reservoir For best quality cleaning and for
your safety, we recommend that youuse products approved by
PEUGEOT (capacity 2.8 litres).
Air filter Regular replacement of the filter ele- ment is essential. If you drive in verydusty conditions, change it twice asoften.

tery checked by a PEUGEOT dea-
ler. Brake pads Brake pad wear depends on the style of driving, in particular forvehicles which are used in town, forshort journeys. It may be necessaryto check the thickness of the padseven between services. Autoadaptive automatic gearbox This does not need an oil change: have the level checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer according to themanufacturer's servicing schedule.

RUNNING OUT OF FUEL (DIESEL) If you should run out of fuel, it is necessary to re-prime the circuit: 1.4 litre HDI engine
- fill the fuel tank with at least five litres of diesel,
- operate the manual re-priming pump, until fuel appears in the transparent pipe under the bon-net,
- operate the starter until the engi- ne starts.

Engine compartment fuse box
To gain access to the box in the engine compartment (next to the
battery), unclip the cover. After carrying out work, close the
cover very carefully.The electrical circuit of your vehicle is designedto operate with standardor optional equipment.
Before installing other electricalequipment or accessories in yourvehicle, consult a PEUGEOT
dealer. Some electrical accessories or the way in which they are fittedmay have an adverse effect onthe operation of your vehicle (itselectronic control circuits, theaudio circuit and the electricalcharging circuit). PEUGEOT declines any respon- sibility for expenses incurredthrough the repair of your vehicleor for any malfunctions resultingfrom the installation of auxiliaryaccessories, not supplied andnot recommended by PEUGEOTand not installed in accordancewith PEUGEOT's instructions, inparticular for any equipment thepower consumption of whichexceeds 10 milliamps.
* The maxi fuses provide additional protection for the electrical systems. Any work on these must be carried out by a PEUGEOT dealer.

BATTERY
To charge the battery using a battery charger:
Ð Disconnect the battery,
Ð Follow the instructions for use given by the battery charger manufacturer,
Ð Reconnect starting with the negative (Ð) terminal,
Ð Check that the terminals and connectors are clean. If they are covered with sulphate (white or greenish deposit), disconnect them and clean them.
To start the vehicle from another battery:
Ð Connect the red cable to the positive (+) terminals of the two batteries,
Ð Connect one end of the green or black cable to the negative (Ð) terminal of the slave battery,
Ð Connect the other end of the green or black cable to an earth point on the bro- ken down vehicle as far as possible from the battery,
Operate the starter, let the engine run.
Wait for the engine to return to idle, then disconnect the cables.
- Never disconnect a terminal when the engine is running. - Never charge a battery without first disconnecting the terminals.
- After every disconnection of the battery, switch on the ignition and wait 1 minute before starting to allow the electronic systems to be initialised. If slight difficulties are experienced after this, please contact a
PEUGEOT dealer.
It is advisable to disconnect the battery if the vehicle is
not to be used for a period of more than one month.
ECONOMY MODE FUNCTION After the engine has stopped, with the key in the accessories position,
certain functions (windscreen wiper,electric windows, sunroof, courtesylights, audio equipment etc.) canonly be used for thirty minutes, to
prevent discharging the battery.
Once the thirty minutes are over, the message "Economy mode active"
appears on the multi-function dis-play and the active functions are put
on standby.
A flat battery will prevent the engine from starting.
