To turn speed control off
²Press OFF or

Once speed control is switched off,
the previously programmed set
speed will be erased.
To set a speed
²Press SET+ / SETþ. For speed
control to operate, the speed
control must be ON and the
vehicle speed must be greater
than 48 km/h (30 mph).
If you drive up or down a steep hill, your vehicle speed may vary
momentarily slower or faster than the set speed. This is normal.
Speed control cannot reduce the vehicle speed if it increases above the
set speed on a downhill. If your vehicle speed is faster than the set
speed while driving on a downhill, you may want to shift to the next
lower gear or apply the brakes to reduce your vehicle speed.

²Turn the ignition to ªACCº. Open the center console armrest and fold
the presenter arm out. Place the wireless phone in the docking
station. If the phone is docked properly, the audio display should read
ªVCS ACTIVEº. The Vehicle Communication System will not function
if the phone is not properly docked.
²Press the ª iº Button and when voice communication is established
with the Lincoln Response Center, indicate that you are a new
customer and the specialist will introduce you to the features. The
purpose of this call is to verify that your Vehicle Communication
System is active and functioning properly. In the event that the
Vehicle Communication System does not function properly, please
contact your Lincoln dealership for assistance.
Leased Vehicles
If the vehicle is leased, the wireless phone should be returned to the
dealership at the end of the lease term. At the end of the lease term, you
have the option to purchase the wireless phone for the price of its
replacement. Please be sure to contact Sprint PCS at 1±866±PCS-AUTO
(1±866±727±2886) for wireless service options if you keep the phone or
call to deactivate your account prior to lease termination.
Second Owner/Re-Lessees
The Vehicle Communication System will not function without an
activated wireless phone with Sprint PCS. The wireless phone may be
purchased through Lincoln dealerships. Wireless service can be activated
with Sprint PCS. Just following the steps in theªFirst Time Activationº
section above.
Vehicle Communication System Limitations
²Vehicle Communication System services are available in the 48
contiguous states and Hawaii
²Vehicle Communication System services are not available in Alaska
²Only available within range of the cellular systems
²Connection limited by atmospheric and topographical conditions

Global Positioning Satellites are used to deliver location information
(only at the request of the vehicle occupants or in the event an airbag
deploys) and may not be available if signal is obstructed. (If a signal is
unavailable, the last valid position obtained before the signal was
obstructed will be sent.)
Vehicle Communication System is powered by the vehicle's battery and
will not operate if the battery is discharged or disconnected.
Vehicle Communication System specialist will make all reasonable efforts
to contact the Public Safety service providers but cannot be held
responsible for their response time or their activities.
Drivers have the responsibility to pay primary attention to the road and
drive safely. A driver may want to pull over to a safe parking spot before
using Vehicle Communication System services. Drivers who allow
themselves to become distracted may cause an accident. Please use this
technology responsibly.
Due to the specialized Lincoln software contained within the phone, your
local Sprint PCS store is unable to provide service or replacement units.
Issues or questions about equipment including the wireless phone should
be directed to your Lincoln dealer.
Phone accessories can be purchased at Sprint PCS stores. Billing or
services issues should be directed to Sprint PCS at 1±866±PCS-AUTO
(1±866±727±2886). Select ª2º for Client Services.

MESSAGE CENTER (IF EQUIPPED)
With the ignition in the RUN
position, the message center,
located on your instrument cluster,
displays important vehicle
information by monitoring vehicle
systems. When you change displays,
a brief indicator chime will sound. The system will also notify you of
potential vehicle problems with a system warnings display followed by a
long indicator chime.

These features are controlled by the message center controls located
above the radio.

STATUS
Selecting this function from the STATUS control causes the message
center to cycle through each of the systems being monitored. For each
of the monitored systems, the message center will indicate either an OK
message or a warning message for four seconds.
The sequence of the status check report is as follows:
²oil life in XX%
²AC (cabin) filter XX%
²charging system
²engine temperature
²brake fluid level
²washer fluid level
²doors closed (driver and passenger side, front and rear). This message
can only be reset by closing the door(s). If the RESET control is
pressed, PLEASE CLOSE DOOR will be displayed.
²trunk status
²exterior lamps (front and rear turn, brake, tail and side repeater lamp
(if equipped) status)

Message center functions
Dist To Empty (DTE)
Selecting this function from the
FUEL control will give you an
estimate of how far you can drive
with the remaining fuel in your tank
under normal driving conditions.
Remember to turn the ignition OFF when refueling your vehicle.
Otherwise, the display will not show the addition of fuel for a few
kilometers (miles).
The DTE function will display LOW FUEL LEVEL and sound a tone for
one second when you have 80 km (50 miles) to empty. This tone will
sound every 10 minutes until you refuel.

System warnings
System warnings alert you to possible problems or malfunctions in your
vehicle's operating systems.
In the event of a multiple warning situation, the message center will
cycle the display to show all warnings by displaying each one for 4
seconds.
The message center will display the last selected feature if there are no
more warning messages. This allows you to use the full functionality of
the message center after you acknowledge the warning by pressing the
RESET control and clearing the warning message.
Warning messages that have been reset are divided into two categories:
²They will reappear on the display ten minutes from the reset.
²They will not reappear until an ignition OFF-RUN cycle has been
completed.
This acts as a reminder that these warning conditions still exist within
the vehicle.

overheating. Stop the vehicle as soon as safely possible and turn off the
engine. If this warning stays on, contact your dealer as soon as possible.
PULL OFF ROAD SAFELY.Displayed when the engine is overheating.
Stop the vehicle as soon as safely possible and turn off the engine. If this
warning stays on, contact your dealer as soon as possible.
TURN OFF IGNITION.Displayed when the engine is overheating. Turn
off the engine. If this warning stays on, contact your dealer as soon as
possible.
DRIVER'S DOOR AJAR.Displayed when the driver's door is not
completely closed.
PASSENGER DOOR AJAR.Displayed when the passenger side door is
not completely closed.
DRIVER'S REAR DOOR AJAR.Displayed when the driver's rear door
is not completely closed.
PASSENGER REAR DOOR AJAR.Displayed when the passenger side
rear door is not completely closed.
CHECK ENGINE TEMP.Displayed when the engine coolant is
overheating. Stop the vehicle as soon as safely possible, turn off the
engine and let it cool. Check the coolant and coolant level. Refer to
Engine coolantin theMaintenance and specificationschapter. If the
warning stays on or continues to come on, contact your dealer as soon as
possible.
CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM.Displayed when the electrical system is
not maintaining proper voltage. If you are operating electrical accessories
when the engine is idling at a low speed, turn off as many of the
electrical loads as soon as possible. If the warning stays on or comes on
when the engine is operating at normal speeds, have the electrical
system checked as soon as possible.
TRANSMISSION OVERHEATED.Indicates the transmission is
overheating. This warning may appear when towing heavy loads or when
driving in a low gear at a high speed for an extended period of time.
Stop the vehicle as soon as safely possible, turn off the engine and let it
cool. Check the transmission fluid and level. Refer toTransmission
fluidin theMaintenance and specificationschapter. If the warning
stays on or continues to come on, contact your dealer for transmission
service as soon as possible.
