1-3 Four-Way Power Lumbar Control (Option)
If your vehicle has this
option, the driver's and
passenger's seatback lumbar
support can be adjusted four
ways by moving the single
control located on the
outboard side of the seat.
To increase or decrease support, hold the control
forward or rearward. To move the lumbar up or down,
hold the control upward or downward.
If you have the independent front cushion moved down
as far as it will go, you may feel the lumbar support
higher in your back. Readjust the position of the cushion
until you are comfortable. You may also want to adjust
the seatback for maximum comfort.
Memory Seat and Mirrors (If Equipped)
If your vehicle has this
feature, the controls are
located on the driver's
door panel, and are used to
program and recall memory
settings for the driver's
seating, outside mirror
positions and comfort
controls. See ªComfort
Controlsº in the Index for
more information.
1-5
To recall the exit position, your vehicle must be in
PARK (P). Push and release the EXIT button and the
seat will move to the exit position previously stored for
the currently identified driver. You will hear one beep.
If an exit position has not been stored for the currently
identified driver, the seat will move all the way back.
To stop recall movement of the seat at any time, press
the driver's power seat control located on the outboard
side of the front seat.
Mirrors, lumbar and shoulder belt height adjuster
positions will not be stored or recalled for the
exit position.
If you would like your stored driving or exit position
to be recalled when unlocking your vehicle with the
transmitter, see ªPersonal Choice Features, Memory
Seat Recallº in the Index.Heated Seats (Option)
If your vehicle has this option, press this button to turn
on the heating element in the seat.
The heated seat controls
are located next to the
climate controls on the
instrument panel.
When the heated seat control is first pressed, the
HI setting is activated. Press the button again for
the LO setting. The third press of the button turns
the feature off.
The LO setting warms the seatback and cushion until the
seat nears body temperature. The HI setting heats the
seat to a slightly higher temperature.
A light on the control reminds you that the heating
system is in use. When the ignition is turned off, the
heating element is also turned off.

Operation
The numbers on the back of the transmitters correspond
to DRIVER #1 and DRIVER #2 on the DIC
(if equipped). See ªDICº in the Index for
more information.
The driver's door will
unlock when the button
with the unlock symbol is
pressed. If pressed again
within five seconds, all the
doors will unlock.
Pressing any button will also illuminate the interior
lamps (see ªIlluminated Entryº in the Index).
All doors will lock when the button with the lock
symbol is pressed.
The trunk will unlock when the trunk button is pressed,
and the ignition is in LOCK or OFF. The trunk button
will also work when the ignition is on, but only while
the transaxle is in PARK (P).Instant Alarm
When the button with the horn symbol on the remote
keyless entry transmitter is pressed, the horn will sound
and the headlamps and taillamps will flash for up to
30 seconds. This can be turned off by pressing the
instant alarm button again or by turning the ignition on.
With the content theft-deterrent feature, you may also
turn off the instant alarm by unlocking the vehicle with
a key.
Personal Choice Features
Each remote keyless entry transmitter can be
programmed to the driver's preference for automatic
door locks, security feedback, delayed locking, memory
seat, perimeter lighting, parallel park assist mirror and
window lockout. See each feature in the Index. You can
also personalize your comfort control temperature, mode
and fan settings. See ªComfort Controls, Personal
Choiceº in the Index.
If your vehicle is equipped with the Driver
Information Center (DIC), you can also program
these features through the DIC. See ªDriver
Information Center (DIC)º in the Index.
2-51 Electrochromic Day/Night Rearview Mirror
with Compass (If Equipped)
Your vehicle may have an electrochromic inside
rearview mirror with a compass. Your vehicle's mirror
may also contain OnStar
controls.
(On/Off): This is the on/off button for mirrors
equipped with OnStar controls.
Pressing the MIRROR button (or the on/off button for
mirrors equipped with OnStar controls) located at the
bottom of the mirror, turns the automatic dimming
feature on or off.
The mirror also includes an eight
-point compass
display in the upper right corner of the mirror face.
When on, the compass automatically calibrates as
the vehicle is driven.
When cleaning the mirror, use a paper towel or similar
material dampened with glass cleaner. Do not spray
glass cleaner directly on the mirror as that may cause
the liquid cleaner to enter the mirror housing.Mirror Operation
To turn on the automatic dimming feature, press
MIRROR (or press and hold the on/off button for
about three seconds for mirrors equipped with OnStar
controls). To turn off automatic dimming, press
MIRROR (or press and hold the on/off button for
about three seconds for mirrors equipped with OnStar
controls) again. The green indicator light will be
illuminated when this feature is active. The automatic
dimming feature will be active each time the vehicle
is started.
Compass Operation
Press COMPASS (or the on/off button for mirrors
equipped with OnStar controls) once to turn the
compass on or off.
When the ignition and the compass feature are on,
the compass will show two character boxes for
approximately two seconds. After two seconds, the
mirror will display the compass heading.
2-52
Compass Calibration
If, after two seconds, the display does not show a
compass heading (N for North, for example), there may
be a strong magnetic field interfering with the compass.
Such interference may be caused by a magnetic antenna
mount, magnetic note pad holder or a similar magnetic
item. If the letter C should ever appear in the compass
window, the compass may need calibration.
The mirror can be calibrated by driving the vehicle in
circles at 5 mph (8 km/h) or less until the display reads
a direction.
Mirrors equipped with OnStar controls can be placed in
calibration mode by pressing and holding the on/off
button until a C is shown in the compass display.
Compass Variance
The mirror is set in zone eight upon leaving the factory.
It will be necessary to adjust the compass to compensate
for compass variance if you live outside zone eight.
Under certain circumstances, as during a long distance
cross
-country trip, it will be necessary to adjust for
compass variance. Compass variance is the difference
between earth's magnetic north and true geographic
north. If not adjusted to account for compass variance,
your compass could give false readings. To adjust for compass variance, do the following:
1. Find your current location and variance zone number
on the following zone map.
2. Press and hold COMPASS (or the on/off button for
mirrors equipped with OnStar controls) until a zone
number appears in the display.
2-53
3. Once a zone number appears in the display, press the
COMPASS button (or the on/off button for mirrors
equipped with OnStar controls) quickly until the
correct zone number appears in the display. Stop
pressing the button and the mirror will return to
normal operation. If C appears in the compass
window, the compass may need calibration. See
ªCompass Calibrationº explained previously.
Power Remote Control Outside
Rearview Mirrors
Your vehicle has power mirror controls located on the
driver's door armrest.Press L or R on the selector switch located below the
control pad to choose the right or left mirror. If you
place the switch in the center position, no mirror
movement will occur. To adjust a mirror, use the arrows
located on the control pad to move the mirror in the
direction you want it to go.
Adjust each mirror so you can see some of the side of
your vehicle and the area behind your vehicle.
If your vehicle is equipped with the memory seat and
mirrors feature, these mirror positions, along with the
driver's seat position can be stored in memory. See
ªMemory Seat and Mirrorsº in the Index.
Parallel Park Assist Mirror (If Equipped)
If you have the DIC feature, the passenger's outside
rearview mirror also includes a tilt
-down feature that
operates when the shift lever is in REVERSE (R).
When the vehicle is shifted out of REVERSE (R), the
passenger mirror will return to its original position after
a five
-second delay. This delay prevents movement of
the mirror if multiple gear transitions (reverse to drive to
reverse) occur during a parallel parking maneuver. This
feature can be programmed on or off through the
personal choice selection menu. See ªDriver
Information Centerº or ªPersonal Choice Featuresº
in the Index for programming instructions.
