INSTRUMENTS AND CONTROLS35
Engine diagnostics warning light This is linked to the warning light on the instrument panel.Display of this warning light is accompanied by an audible signal and the message
'Engine emission control sys-
tem faulty' on the multi-function display.
If it flashes when the engine is running, this indicates a malfunction in the injection, ignition or emission control system. Th ere
is a risk of damage to the catalytic converter (petrol engine only).
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as possible.
Bulb blown warning lightDisplay of this indicator light is accompanied by an audible signal and the message 'Bulb... faulty' on the multi-func-
tion display, indicating the faulty bulb: a bulb in the dipped beam lights, the side lights, the direction indicator lights (except side repeaters) or the brake lights (except the central brake light).
Change the faulty bulb.
Windscreen/headlamp wash reservoir warning light Display of this warning light is accompanied by an audible signal and the message 'Screenwash low'on the multi-
function display.Fill the windscreen/headlamp wash reservoir the next time you stop. Particulate emission filter saturation warning light (diesel engine) Display of this warning light is accompanied by an audible signal. When it occurs with the engine running, this indicates the start of saturation of the particulate emission filter (excep- tionally long periods of town type driving conditions: reduced speed, long tailbacks...).
To regenerate the filter, you are advised to drive as soon as possible and when traffic conditions permit at a speed of 35 mph(60 km/h) or more for at least five minutes (until the warning light goes out).
If the light remains on, contact a PEUGEOT dealer.Note: After prolonged operation of the vehicle at a very low speed or at idle, you may sometimes notice steam coming from
the exhaust during acceleration. This has no effect on the performance of the vehicle or on the environment.

Do not cover the rain sensor located on thewindscreen behind the
interior mirror. When using an automatic
car wash, switch off the ignition or check that the wiper stalk is not inthe automatic position.
In winter, it is advisable to wait until the windscreen is completelyfree of ice before operating theautomatic wipe

When the ignition has been switched off for more than aminute with the control in a wipeposition (1, 2 or 3), it is necesaryto reactivate this function. To d o
this, move the stalk to any position, then move it back to the requiredposition. Maintenance position This position enables the wiper blades to be removed.
In the minute following switching off of the ignition, any action on the stalkpositions the wipers in the centre ofthe windscreen so that they may becleaned or replaced.
To park the wipers after this has been done, switch on the ignitionand operate the stalk.
Windscreen and headlamp wash Pull the windscreen wiper stalk towards you. The windscreen wash then the wind- screen wipers operate for a fixed
period. The windscreen wash andheadlamp wash operate simultane-ously for a few seconds,
only if the
dipped beam or main beam head-lamps are on.
Screenwash/headlamp wash low
When the minimum level of the reservoir is reached, thiswarning light comes on,accompanied by an audiblesignal and the message
'Screenwash low' on the multi-func-
tion display. Next time you stop, fill the screen-
wash / headlamp wash reservoir.
If the reservoir is empty, the warning light comes on when the ignition isswitched on, or every time the stalkis operated, until the reservoir isfilled.

CHANGING A BULB Front lights
In the engine compartment, remove the style cover secured by one or two butterfly screws, a plastic retainer clip andtwo screws. Note:
handle the bulbs with a dry cloth.
1 - Dipped beam headlamps: H7-55W or Xenon bulb.
WARNING: RISK OF ELECTROCUTION Xenon bulbs must be replaced by a PEUGEOT
dealer.
2 - Main beam headlamps: H1-55W.
Turn the protective cover of the faulty bulb a quarterof a turn and remove it.
Disconnect the connector.
Press the end of the securing clip to free it. Changethe bulb.
When fitting the new bulb, ensure that the directionnotches are positioned correctly and the securing
clip is fixed properly.
Reconnect the connector.
Refit the protective cover.
The headlamps are fitted with polycarbonate glass with aprotective coating. Do not clean them with a dry or abra-
sive cloth, nor with a detergent or solvent product.
3 - Side lights: W 5 W.
Pull the socket rearwards, remove the bulb and change it.
4 - Direction indicators: PY 21 W (amber).
Turn the bulb holder a quarter turn and remove it.
Change the bulb.
Refit the style cover.
Front foglamps: H1 - 55 W.
Note: In certain climatic conditions (low temperature,
humidity), condensation on the inside surface of the
headlamp glass is normal ; it disappears a few minutes
after the lights are switched on.

TOWING A TRAILER,
CARAVAN, BOAT ETC...
Only use original PEUGEOT tow bars which have been tested andapproved from the design stage ofyour vehicle. The tow bar must be fitted by a
PEUGEOT dealer. Driving advice Distribution of loads: distribute the
load in the trailer so that the heaviest loads are as close as possible to theaxle and the nose weight is close tothe maximum authorised without,
however, exceeding it. Cooling: towing a trailer on a slope
increases the coolant temperature. As the fan is electronically controlled, its cooling capacity is not dependenton the engine speed.
On the contrary, use a high gear to lower the engine speed, and reduceyour speed. In all cases, pay attention to thecoolant temperature. Note:
in certain cases of particularly
arduous use (towing the maximum load up a steep slope in high tem-peratures), the engine automatically
limits its power. In this case, cutting
off the air conditioning allows theengine power to be recovered, andtherefore the towing speed to be sig-nificantly increased (approximately12mph [20 km/h] more). If the coolant temperature warning light comes on, stop the vehicle and
switch off the engine as soon aspossible.
Tyres: check the tyre pressures of
the towing vehicle and of the trailer, observing the recommended pres-sure. Brakes: towing increases the brak-
ing distance. Drive at a moderate speed, change down early and brake
gradually. Side wind: sensitivity to side wind is
increased. Drive smoothly and at a moderate speed. Lighting Manual adjustmentAdjust your headlamps so as not to dazzle other road users (see sectionon ''Manual adjustment of head-lamps''). Check the electrical sig-
nalling of the trailer. Automatic beam correction For vehicles with Xenon bulbs, this system automatically corrects theheight of the beam, whatever the
load of the vehicle. The driver is thenassured of having optimum lightingand not causing a nuisance to otherroad users. In cases of malfunction, the driver is alerted by means of the warning lighton the instrument panel. In this situation the system adjusts your headlamps to the low position.
