Luggage cover:
Pull out lower blind, draw it over the luggage and
engage into track on the D pillar. When the tailgate is
opened the blind is lifted up automatically so that it
need not be retracted for loading or unloading the
vehicle.
Lower the blind to its bottom stop before closing the
tailgate.
To retract the lower blind, press left and right lock
button (1). The luggage cover rail is raised. Now
disengage it from the track on the D pillar and slowly
guide it into its receptacle.

Pull out upper blind (safety net) and engage into eyelets
on the roof (1). This is a particularly important safety
factor when the vehicle is loaded higher than the top of
the seat backrest.Removal of twin-reel roller blind:
Fold backrest sections forward, push cover mechanism
to the left and remove.

Rear-facing bench seat
The rear-facing bench seat can be unfolded to enlarge
the seating area.
By pressing down on the handle, lift the backrest into
place. Raise the seat cushion in a similar manner.
Hook the safety belts into the brackets (1) provided.

Prior to occupying the rear-facing bench seat, the
rear seat backrests must be in an upright position
and locked in place.To avoid possible injury to the rear-facing bench
seat occupants, the bench should be used by no
more than two passengers not taller than 5 ft.
(150 cm).

If the rear-facing bench seat is to be occupied, the
forward-facing split rear bench seat must be equipped
with head restraints.
To stow the rear-facing bench seat, proceed in reverse
order, pulling the seat cushion up by its strap (2).Cup holder next to seat
Fold down cup holder to open.
Caution!
Keep cup holder closed while traveling. Place only
containers that fit into the cup holder to prevent spills.
Do not fill containers to a height where the contents
could spill during vehicle maneuvers, especially hot
liquids.

Loading instructions
The handling characteristics of a fully loaded vehicle
depend greatly on the load distribution. It is therefore
recommended to load the vehicle according to the
illustrations shown, with the heaviest items being
placed towards the front of the vehicle.
The total load weight including vehicle occupants and
luggage / cargo should not exceed the vehicle capacity
weight indicated on the certification label which can be
found on the left door pillar.Always place items being carried against front or rear
seat backrests, and fasten them as securely as possible.
The heaviest portion of the cargo should always be kept
as low as possible since it influences the handling
characteristics of the vehicle.
For additional safety when transporting cargo while the
rear bench seats are unoccupied, fasten the outer seat
belts crosswise into the opposite side buckles.

Eight rings are located in the cargo compartment.
Additional two rings can be found ahead of the split rear
bench seat on the cross member.
Carefully secure cargo by applying even load on all
rings with rope of sufficient strength to hold down the
cargo.

Always fasten items being carried as securely as
possible.In an accident, during hard braking or sudden
maneuvers, loose items will be thrown around
inside the vehicle, and can cause injury to vehicle
occupants unless the items are securely fastened in
the vehicle.To help avoid personal injury during a collision or
sudden maneuver, exercise care when transporting
cargo.Never drive vehicle with tailgate open. Deadly
carbon monoxide (CO) gases may enter vehicle
interior resulting in unconsciousness and death.

Parcel net in front passenger footwell
A small convenience parcel net is located in the front
passenger footwell. It is for small and light items, such
as road maps, mail, etc..Cellular telephone
The vehicle is prepared for the installation of a cellular
telephone. For further information and installation
contact your authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.

Do not place heavy or fragile objects, or objects
having sharp edges, in the parcel net.In an accident, during hard braking or sudden
maneuvers, they could be thrown around inside
the vehicle, and cause injury to vehicle occupants.

Some jurisdictions prohibit the driver from using a
cellular telephone while driving a vehicle. Whether
or not prohibited by law, for safety reasons, the
driver should not use the cellular telephone while
the vehicle is in motion. Stop the vehicle in a safe
location before answering or placing a call.
