To close
Put the cap in the filler neck and turn

Kick starterRotate the kick starter away from the
engine. Push the starter down lightly
with your foot until the gears engage,
then kick smoothly and forcefully to
start the engine. This model has a
primary-coupled kick starter so the
engine can be started in any gear if
the clutch is disengaged. However,
shifting to neutral before starting is

Steering lockTo lock the steering
Turn the handlebars all the way to
the right and open the steering lock
cover.
Insert the key and turn it 1/8 turn
counterclockwise. Then, push the key
in while turning the handlebars slight-
ly to the left and turn the key 1/8 turn
clockwise.
Check that the steering is locked,
remove the key and close the lock
cover.

4. Engine overheating

wDo not remove the radiator cap when the engine and radiator are hot. Scalding hot fluid and steam may be
blown out under pressure, which could cause serious injury. Open the radiator cap as follows. Wait until the
engine has cooled. Remove the radiator cap stopper by removing the screw. Place a thick rag like a towel over
the radiator cap and slowly rotate the cap counterclockwise to the detent. This procedure allows any residual
pressure to escape. When the hissing sound has stopped, press down on the cap while turning counterclock-
wise and remove it.Wait until the
